One Hour Of Bawu Sounds
by Alon Marcus
Music for meditation and relaxation. Here is a legend about Bawu. Long ago in the Ailao Mountains, a kind Hani girl was kidnapped by a devil, who cut out her tongue when she refused to marry him. A forest bird helped her speak again by placing her tongue in a bamboo tube, and the music she played led her lover to rescue her. This bamboo instrument, called Bawu, has since been passed down to express deep love and longing.
