Let's begin by finding a really comfortable seated position,
With your feet firmly planted on the ground and your spine nice and straight,
Taking a few deep breaths now,
Inhaling through your nose,
Exhaling through your mouth,
And with each breath allowing any tension or distractions to dissolve,
Breathing in a sense of comfort and ease,
And breathing out any tension,
Any worry that you might be bringing with you today.
As we begin our meditation and cultivating creativity,
Bring to mind a project or a challenge that you've been working on that requires some creative thinking,
Maybe something that's been on your mind,
Something you've been working on already,
Or maybe a creative project that you want to begin working on in the future.
As we continue,
Hold this project in your mind and give yourself the freedom to explore it through this meditation.
Now bring your attention to your breath,
And with each inhale imagine that you are bringing in a greater sense of focus and clarity,
And with each exhale imagine that you are releasing any mental clutter or distractions,
Breathing in and breathing out,
Feeling that focus and clarity coming into your body with each breath,
Feeling that release of mental clutter and distractions around you.
As you continue to breathe deeply,
Bring to mind a really peaceful,
Really inspiring place.
This could be whatever is peaceful and inspiring for you,
Could be a natural setting such as a forest or a beach,
Maybe an indoor space,
A building,
Something that's really inspiring for you.
And now allow yourself to fully immerse yourself in this environment,
Using your senses to observe all the colors,
All the textures,
All the sounds and smells around you,
Noticing perhaps how this peaceful place brings an even greater focus and clarity to your mind as you rest there.
And in this peaceful place,
Look now for a quiet spot to sit,
Walking to that place and seeing in your mind's eye your body sitting down and getting comfortable,
Closing your eyes and going even further inward now.
And from this even deeper place of relaxation and inspiration,
Bring your attention back to the project or the challenge that you've been working on.
Play out in your mind some of the questions,
Some of the opportunities,
Some of the challenges that you face.
Allow yourself to become fully immersed in that creative process,
Without judgment,
Without expectation,
Just allowing it to unfold easily and gently,
Visualizing that project or challenge as something like a blank canvas,
Or maybe a puzzle that you're in charge of solving.
Using your creative inspiration in this calm frame of mind,
Imagine yourself now working through this creative challenge,
Either moving the pieces of the puzzle around or visualizing the colors and shapes appearing on the blank canvas in front of you,
Allowing yourself to experiment with all sorts of different ideas,
All sorts of different perspectives without getting attached to any one of them,
Seeing those puzzle pieces of the project moving around in the screen of your mind,
Or seeing that canvas of this creative project filling up with new opportunities,
New solutions,
New ways forward.
Allow yourself to take risks and make mistakes as you visualize this creative process,
Knowing that every idea is a step closer to the final solution.
The next idea might not be the final one,
But it's going to get you one step closer to completing that puzzle or filling that canvas.
As we come to the end of our meditation,
I want to invite you to reflect on a few questions.
What creative ideas or solutions came up for you in this meditation?
How can you apply these ideas or solutions to the project or challenge that you've been working on?
What did you learn about yourself and your creative process from this experience?
How can you cultivate creativity in your daily life beyond this specific project or challenge?
Beginning now to move your body very gently and slowly as we begin to come out of this meditation,
Giving a bit of a stretch,
Allowing your eyes to open in their own time,
And now taking a few moments to journal about your reflections.
Or perhaps simply sitting in silence,
Allowing any of these insights or inspirations to continue to unfold in your conscious mind.
