Making Space To Feel
by Lexy Davis
Feeling emotions is not something we're taught how to do. A lot of us are left feeling confused, overreactive, numb, avoidant and so much more with our emotions. So during this meditation, I guide you through a practice that has a somatic lens with lots of compassion. You may feel an opening of your heart and begin to explore the complexity of who you are. May you continue to return home to yourself and remember you are already whole. Thank you Sarah Blondin + Nicole Lohse for guiding me.

Hi sweet pea.
I'm so grateful that you press play on this meditation and that you decided to prioritize yourself and make time to be mindful and to go within.
I know this can be the hardest part sometimes to create this space.
You've done the hardest part.
So begin to settle in.
Settle into your body.
Settle into the bed,
The floor,
The sand and just get as cozy as you possibly can,
Allowing comfort in to your being.
Adding any blankets,
Candles,
Anything to enhance the comfort.
You can always press pause and return back when you're ready.
Not often in life that we are prioritizing being cozy,
So allow this to be.
What else would help you feel safe in this moment?
For us to move through any activation we must feel safe.
It's okay if you don't feel safe often.
Most of us don't,
But maybe you can begin to imagine what safety would feel like and with time the sensation will grow.
So I want you to notice your breath and if it feels safe for you please close down the eyes and if not just having a soft gaze somewhere.
Not judging yourself for what you choose,
But just choosing what the heart desires.
Checking in with where is my breath.
Now I'd like you to gently place one hand or both hands on your heart and connecting with this heart center.
How is my heart today?
And inviting your heart to open and soften.
Saying I am holding you,
I am here with you.
Feel free to wrap your arms around your body and give yourself a really warm cuddle.
A super loving and tender hug.
Now releasing the arms and just settling into a position that you can stay in for the next few moments.
If it feels okay breathing in and out through the nose making your exhalation longer than your inhales and this helps soothe the nervous system even quicker.
How do you notice yourself right here in this moment?
Can you allow yourself to be here just as you are?
Putting down the weight of the world,
Your different hats and identities,
No longer needing to please anyone else.
All you have to do is take care of your own heart.
You don't have to hold it together anymore.
You can be held now.
You can open your heart and be vulnerable.
Take a big breath in and sigh it out.
The sigh of relief knowing that you too deserve to receive the love that you give others.
Now you can take a moment to shower yourself in white sparkling light covering the front,
Back and sides of your being.
Maybe asking for your angels to protect your energy and clear away anything that is not for your highest good.
Ask to feel your angels energy even more so that you can be held in unconditional love as you begin to explore all parts of yourself knowing that you are never alone.
The support is always there.
All you have to do is ask for it.
Now let's begin to connect to the truest you.
The you you don't allow yourself to be and often forget at times.
The you that likes to stay small and keep your emotions locked in.
The you that doesn't want to be a burden to anyone else.
The you you sometimes shame.
Even the you that experiences the utmost joy.
Notice any emotions that start to bubble up to the surface as you allow yourself to be all of you.
Remember that each feeling is bringing us home to our love center.
They are like little mailmen delivering you a package and each package is wrapped in a different sensation but inside all of them is your eternal love.
So begin to get curious.
Curious with compassion as you start to explore your internal world.
Breathing in inviting the feeling and as you exhale releasing any hold on expectations of your feelings.
Breathing in inviting more.
Exhaling surrendering to your emotions.
You are safe.
You are allowed to feel exactly what you're feeling.
There is no right or wrong.
Every emotion matters.
And maybe noticing the complexity of your emotions we usually feel more than one at a time.
We carry so much depth and we often forget this.
So it's okay if you're feeling polarizing emotions.
Just notice what you do feel and be grateful that you can feel.
There is no need to change or avoid what you're feeling.
They aren't here to harm you.
They are here to awaken you to your love.
They begin in your body through sensations like the clenching of your jaw,
The shoulders up towards your ears,
The throbbing in your low back,
The heat in your cheeks or the fluttering in your belly.
Maybe even a rawness of your open heart.
What is alive within you right now?
As you begin to sit with your emotional body more you can start to notice which sensations may be correlated to which emotion.
Taking a moment now to say I feel within me at this moment.
I feel fear within me at this moment.
We're confused,
Insecure,
Lonely,
Ashamed,
Guilty,
Annoyed,
Grateful,
Proud,
Inspired.
Anything that you feel just name it I feel in this moment.
As we acknowledge our feelings we begin to heal.
Our feelings just want to be seen and heard and loved.
They do not ask for much and I know it might seem scary to admit what you're feeling and that if you admit it may grow which may be true because it does get bigger sometimes and then suddenly it transforms and you feel lighter and you open.
So what if you allowed yourself to just feel and explore this transformation within you as you let the body do its natural healing wisdom.
Feel free to expand your curiosity and see what this emotion is here to share with you.
Can you release any stories about the feelings you're feeling?
We often try to escape our feelings with judgments of how or what we should be feeling.
Can you allow what is to just be?
Now take a moment to find a new area in the body that feels whole,
Open,
Okay or safe.
It doesn't need to be a big area just any slice of wholeness and openness you can find within you.
Now take a moment to zoom out and can you notice that you are the wholeness that these emotions and wounds and pieces of you that may be hurt or feel confused are parts within your wholeness.
Imagine supporting yourself from a place of already being whole.
There's nothing to fix.
Your fragmented parts don't need to be changed they just need to be welcomed back home.
You are whole and nothing is wrong with you.
At the very core of you is love and that is your truest essence.
Can you sense that love within doesn't require you to be or do anything that is always there and you have to get still and feel your way back to this place.
Once you arrive you need not do anything but receive.
Bring awareness back into the breath.
Taking a moment to expand the belly out wide as you inhale and as you exhale gently soften deeper and bring the belly back towards the spine.
Can you notice the sounds around you?
Can you feel the earth holding you as you lay or sit here?
Feeling your clothes touching your skin or maybe the sun or rain kissing the skin.
Your tongue in the bottom of your mouth.
Feel free to bring any sort of movement gentle gentle movement into the body.
Knowing there is no place to be but this present moment and you're allowed to move slow.
In your own time begin to softly open the eyes and start to take in the world around you.
And as you take in the world notice what's happening in the body as you move from the internal back into the external holding both at the same time.
Thank you so much for opening your heart with me.
My name is Lexi Davis and I'm so so grateful you allowed me to guide you today and I'd like to thank Sarah Blondin and Nicole Laus for guiding me to these places within myself and allowing me to share what I've learned to you listening with me right now.
May you continue to feel everything that's being asked to be felt sending you so much love and peace.

Before I started this meditation I felt in distress feeling very drained, restless, anxious, stressed, overwhelmed, alone, annoyed and frustrated this meditation helped me become more mindful of what caused me to get so anxious and overwhelmed and restless, listening to this meditation help slow my mind down and noticed how warm my face felt in the beginning from getting and feeling so upset so I just followed along to the sound of your soothing voice telling myself that I was safe and okay and that it was okay to feel how I was feeling. I focused on my breathing and followed along listening and focusing on your soothing voice in the meditation telling me I'm safe and that I'm allowed to feel the way I feel. This meditation helped trained me to calm my nervous system down and this meditation did just that! I let myself lay back and melt away in my chair in my car and layed and sat with my feelings alone in silence with no one else around me because I needed time to allow myself to break down and have a much needed cry and gave myself the permission to feel how I was feeling before the meditation without anyone else’s judgement like oh what’s wrong with her? This meditation helped me be more in control of my thoughts, feelings, emotions and my surroundings during the meditation calming my nervous system letting my body and mind rest and surrender letting go everything that I felt in the begging and your voice really helped calm me down! I absolutely love this meditation it definitely helped!

This is a really great emergency meditation, when you feel down. But worked for me even though I felt great. I met Joy inside of me, that told me: “You know what you want. And you can do it. That brings you joy.”
