We've all handed out titles and labels to others, and we're all probably going to get and give a few more along the way. Remember - what we put out in the universe is what we receive. Titles are just that - a description and sometimes are held for a moment, or some you may never know, but we must remember that they don't hold any power.

Welcome to Shift Today with Allison.

That's me.

Thanks for showing up.

I'm Allison Shuhozzi and as an intuitive coach and Reiki Master,

I continue to collect a bundle of pivotal moments and funny stories that have helped me keep it real along my journey.

And I hope that this podcast will ignite a spark of confidence within you to connect with your intuition and whispers of wisdom to share along the way.

So get ready because it's time to shift today with me,

Allison.

Hello,

Hello and welcome.

Today is a new day.

And hopefully by the end of this podcast,

You'll have an idea of a shift that you want to make,

Even if it's just for today.

Part of the reason I started this podcast is one thing I truly do enjoy is I love hearing other people's stories.

I love their stories of the past.

I love to know how they got where they are today and where they want to go tomorrow.

So I thought this would be a great episode to kick off by talking about titles and labels and the meaning that they carry and how I thought they were a big part of my identity throughout my life until recently.

So this seems like an easy way I can share a little bit about who I am before we dive into some other fun and possibly heavy topics in future episodes.

So currently right now,

It'll hopefully be done before this podcast airs,

But I am revamping a website that I have,

Which is where I will keep all of my show notes,

I'll have my writing,

My quotes,

And some other fun stuff and different ways that you can connect with me.

But one thing I did have on there that I wrote back in 2015,

It's a little kitschy piece and it's titled,

What's Your Title?

Well,

That's interesting.

And I thought,

Gosh,

Perfect episode to kick off my podcast.

Well,

I define a title as something acquired personally,

Professionally,

And it can also lead to a label that someone might have given me as a way to make themselves feel better.

So it might not have really necessarily been something kind.

Let's be honest,

And I'm not an angel either.

So I've probably given out various labels and titles myself to other people.

And that's just part of life,

Right?

We're human.

So in recent years,

And through my journey as a lightworker,

And real recently in the last couple years,

With becoming a Reiki master and a coach,

I've significantly made shifts in how I acknowledge and define moments.

And again,

Those are some huge episodes that we'll have in the future.

And we'll dive more into those ideas and how I'm living differently.

But for a minute,

Let's reminisce.

And let me share some of the titles and the labels that have defined me.

And then I found on this list and I've added a few recent ones.

So obviously the normal ones,

I'm a daughter,

A granddaughter.

I'm a niece,

I'm a cousin,

I'm a friend.

I'm a wife,

I'm an ex-wife,

And then became a wife again.

So second marriage has definitely been the one to go with.

My true love.

I'm a daughter-in-law.

I'm a stepmom.

I'm a salad lover.

Love me some salad.

I'm an only child.

I'm a college graduate,

A costume designer.

I've been a sales associate,

A volunteer coordinator.

I've been a mountain biker,

A development director,

An event coordinator,

A community relations officer,

A partner's senior partner.

I've been a board member for various organizations.

I'm an Olympic torchbearer.

I'm a West Nile survivor along with numerous other health encounters.

I've been called sassy in a very playful,

Nice way and probably in other ways as well.

I've been a communications director.

I've been called a steamroller.

I've been called a pit bull,

A mama bear,

A loudmouth,

A bitch.

I've been a small business consultant.

I'm a mom.

I'm a life coach,

A Reiki practitioner,

And a master.

I've been a movie extra.

I consider myself a writer and a crafter and a painter.

And my new titles recently are I'm a women's retreat co-creator and now drumroll podcaster.

I should have had my husband do a drumroll,

He's a drummer.

Okay,

Well,

This isn't everything obviously,

But it's a good taste of what I'm talking about.

So just writing this list out brought back a flood of memories and definitely will lead to some future episodes.

And you can probably guess which ones are official titles and the ones that were given out of spite.

Well,

I do remember here's,

Here's a little backstory in one of them.

I remember when a co worker told me that somebody had called me a pit bull.

And I thought,

All right,

Well,

I laughed really hard.

I will never forget this moment.

I left really hard.

And I said,

Well,

That's a compliment.

And she was like,

Seriously,

I don't think it was meant as a compliment.

I said,

Well,

Because I didn't realize I was a strong aggressive type with silky smooth hair and a buff body.

So that's how I looked at it.

Instead of looking at it as the negative,

I'm like,

Well,

I must be pretty fantastic.

So have you ever thought back to all of the titles that you've held?

Try,

Try writing them down,

Give it a try.

It's very refreshing.

It's super eye opening.

And it definitely brings back memories for sure.

And talk about shifts,

I had no idea how many shifts I have made throughout my life.

And it was pretty telling.

So today,

Right now,

I really try to embrace and grasp all the treasures and the opportunities that I am given now,

In the moments and trust me over the years,

I have been given so many amazing opportunities that have just been inspiring.

And so now I'm doing it again.

I'm buckling up,

Because I'm jumping into this whole new shift by stepping completely out of my comfort zone and sharing with you and starting this podcast.

I'm used to being the one behind the scenes.

I'm used to being the one trying to raise everyone else up to make them look better.

And now I'm trying to do this.

I continue actually on that path,

But by sharing the experiences that I've had.

So I used to also be very hardcore professional,

Very buttoned up,

Very,

Very much driven,

Focused on titles,

Focused on bigger paychecks.

But then life changes,

And I was forced to pause.

And now I know I'm heading in a whole new direction.

And the cool thing is,

Is now I'm including you in it.

So if we look back titles are just that it's a title,

It's a description.

And sometimes they're only held for a moment.

And some may not,

You might never know because of somebody might have given you.

But one thing we must remember,

And I try to remind myself of this is they don't hold any power.

A title cannot hold any power.

I remember a time when I felt like I had to hide that I was an only child because I would get teased or ridiculed.

And for some reason,

There was a stigma being an only child,

Or being a quote unquote,

Only.

I also remember a time when I was wearing a medical.

I was had so many medical issues,

I felt like I was wearing a blanket of them.

Because it seemed like it was never ending.

It was like you couldn't look at me without knowing,

Oh,

She's got a neck issue.

Oh,

She's had this out,

Blah,

Blah,

Blah.

That always seemed like something.

Have you ever felt that way?

Just overwhelmed by things?

Which really,

If you look back,

Were titles,

There was a label or title that went with it.

Well,

Here's something to think about.

You may have a severe medical diagnosis,

Or you might be a survivor.

Congratulations.

You may be a president,

A janitor,

A mom or a step parent,

A teacher,

A musician,

A police officer,

A YouTuber,

A gamer,

A drug addict,

An alcoholic,

And so on.

I mean,

There's so many titles.

But this is just a small portion of who you really are,

Who your whole person is.

And you have the power to redefine your now and your future.

The past is over.

But you can change your relationship with your reactions to the past and how you think about the past.

And again,

That's a whole other episode we're going to talk about in the future.

But right now the power is within you and it's within me too.

And I know that I'm more than a title.

And I believe you are too.

We've all handed out titles and labels to others.

And we're all probably going to get and give a few more along the way.

Well remember,

What we put out into the universe is what we receive.

So just for today,

Try to live in the present and focus on the title you're creating today that will be left behind tomorrow.

All right,

Well,

Thank you so much for joining me.

I know this is a little snippet,

But more to come in the future.

I hope that you're able to make a shift today into a greater tomorrow.

Thanks for joining me for Shift Today with Allison.
