Gratitude preparation.

For this meditation,

What you need is a notepad and a pen.

You want to make sure you're in a quiet place,

Your phone is on silent,

And you're just going to give yourself a few minutes.

What often tends to happen when we're having a bad day or a bad week or a bad month and heaven forbid a bad year,

It's really hard to focus on good things.

It's really hard to focus on the positive things.

You know,

People often say,

Oh,

It's fine,

Just focus on something happy.

But when you're feeling sad or you're feeling stressed or you're feeling down,

That can be difficult.

So what you can use meditation for is to train your mind to feel good.

Because if your mind feels good,

It has a positive impact on your body and everything around you.

So train your mind to feel good and your reality will be good.

So on a piece of paper and with a pen,

What you want to do is write down three things you're grateful for.

So it might be as simple as,

I am grateful for nature.

I'm grateful the sun is shining today.

I'm grateful I went for a swim in the ocean.

Or it could be bigger things,

You know,

I'm grateful that I've got a warm cooked meal every day at the end of the day from my family.

I'm grateful I got a good grade at school yesterday.

Just choose three separate items to be grateful for.

Write them down on your piece of paper.

And when you've done those three things,

We're going to use those as a guide for your gratitude meditation.

So you'll be closing your eyes during that meditation.

You won't be looking at the piece of paper,

But you've invested the time and energy now to be grateful.

So you write the three things down and that prepares you for the meditation.

And as I said,

Sometimes it's easy to come up with things,

You know,

They just roll off your tongue and other times it's more difficult,

But there is always things to be grateful for.

And the more that we're grateful,

What happens is you tend to expand and open up and you notice more things around you that you're grateful for.

So when you complete this exercise,

You just need your piece of paper handy next to you during the next meditation.
