Hello and welcome everyone.
My name is Asha Kennedy.
I'm a creativity catalyst and mentor for women who want to experience spacious success by being more and doing less.
Today I want to talk about and do a little meditation around comparing and creating.
So there's always a balance in life and I find that sometimes we tip the scales a little bit,
Sometimes we don't even realize it and I want to focus that tipping of the scale on comparing ourselves to others and what we can do about that.
To stop comparing and to start creating more.
So I don't think that there's anything wrong with looking at what other people are doing.
It can be a very expansive,
Informative and inspiring thing to do,
To see what others are doing.
But then there's that time when you spend so much of your day to day life scrolling,
Looking and seeing what everyone else is doing,
Leaving very little time to be curious about yourself and about what you're doing and who you are and what makes you light up and what you enjoy doing and what you want to do.
We can spend so much of our time focused outwards on what others are doing.
And when we do that over and over again,
And I speak from experience,
I've done it many times myself,
Is you start to feel that little icky,
Yucky,
Sickening feeling in the belly and that's always my clue that I'm focusing too much on the outer,
That somewhere my mind has started to compare what I'm doing to others.
And so the remedy for that is simple and yet as most simple things are,
It can be hard to implement.
So I want to make this meditation,
This invitation for you to bring back more balance in your life around what you're doing and what you're doing.
This meditation for you to bring back more balance in your life around looking at the outer expressions of what others are doing and focus more on your own heart,
Your own desires and get to know and understand who you are on deeper and deeper levels.
And from that exploration within,
You begin to become more inspired,
You start to create more.
And the more you create and the more that you express yourself in that really authentic way,
You begin to lessen that comparing that often overtakes,
That makes you feel that you're not enough or you don't have the right or someone's doing it better than you.
And all the stories and the doubts that come up we can start to let all of that go as we recognize we're spending too much time focusing on others and too little time bringing our focus home to ourselves and creating from that inspired place within us.
So I'll invite you now to come into a short meditation with me so that we can begin to let go of all the outer looking,
Scrolling,
Comparing and come home to what's really valuable and important.
To come home with that inquisitive curiosity of who am I?
Why am I here and what do I have to share with the world?
What are my gifts?
What is it that I love,
Love,
Love doing?
Can I give myself permission to do more of that?
So take a comfortable seated position.
If you can have your feet on the floor that's really good too.
Or something under your feet to feel grounded.
And I'll invite you to close your eyes if it's safe to do that.
So if you're driving of course don't close your eyes.
And just begin to let yourself feel the body.
Feeling the body and the breath moving in the body.
And this is the simplest way to just let go of all the thinking,
The past and the future.
And let yourself for that moment sink into the spaciousness of right here and right now.
We often think a moment is so skinny and small but the moment is vast.
So sinking into the vastness of being right here,
Right now.
Listening to my voice,
Listening to the sounds that you might hear in your environment.
Feeling your breath,
Feel the feet and imagine that the soles of the feet,
Soft soles of the feet open down towards the earth.
Bringing in that connection of earth energy grounding you,
Supporting you,
Nourishing you.
And as you're breathing in and out,
Lightly staying connected to that breathing.
Bring the energy up from the soles of the feet up to your heart.
You might even want to place a hand or both hands on the center of your chest.
Feel the warmth.
And then feel and sense that at the very top of your head you're open to receive.
Open to receive.
Whatever insights,
Whatever comes down,
Whatever ideas,
Whatever inspirations,
Could be colors,
Could be words,
Could be visuals.
And if it's nothing,
If it's absolutely nothing at all,
Being with that,
Being with the spaciousness of nothing.
And feel your breath moving in and out of the body.
And ask yourself this.
What is it that I'd like to create?
What is the next thing,
The very next thing that I'd like to create in my life?
Don't put any limitations on what comes in,
What comes through as an answer.
And if you don't hear anything,
If you don't feel anything or sense anything,
Just let it be.
It will come.
Sometimes it takes a day,
Or sometimes it comes in your dreams.
If you don't know,
Just allow it that space.
What is it that wants to be created through me?
It could be something tangible in your work,
It could be a feeling that you want to create more of in your life.
Perhaps more peacefulness,
Or more joy.
And you're going to extend that out now.
Just be with the feeling of what it is you want to create.
And then allow yourself to open up to all the many ways that that can unfold.
That there is no rush,
There is no timeline,
There is no deadline.
And give it all the space it needs to inform you of what you need to do next,
And next,
And next,
Until it becomes more of a form,
A solid form in your life,
Something that you want to create,
Something you want to invite more of into your life.
And in doing this,
In this practice,
You start to create more things,
More content,
More artwork,
More writing,
More singing,
More dancing,
Playfulness.
And as you allow this creative essence of you to be nourished,
To give it expression,
You'll find that,
That habit of comparing and looking out at what others are doing starts to diminish,
It starts to dissolve,
Because you are feeling full,
You are feeling expanded and creative.
And when you're in that place,
You feel yourself solid in your sovereignty,
In the expression of who you are,
In the exploration of who you are.
It's so magical and so wonderfully expansive that you can then look at what others are doing without that energy of comparing or feeling less than or feeling small.
You only feel that way because you are doing what your soul really wants to be doing,
And your soul wants to create,
And it wants to express,
And it wants you to be fully and completely you,
Your unique expression.
And the more that you can do that,
You'll find that you are expanding and then you can look at what others are doing without the comparison,
It drops away,
It's not necessary.
And you can appreciate much more what others are doing without feeling diminished or less.
So take a deep breath in and a deep breath out and just get that sense that we are all here equal,
Standing side by side.
Each of us has our unique gifts and expression to bring into the world,
Into humanity.
No one is greater or lesser than one another,
We all have our unique contribution.
So when you start to feel that you're comparing,
When you start to spend more time looking at what others are doing,
Remember,
Ah,
This is the time I need to come back to myself and see what it is that wants to be expressed through me.
Maybe it's a writing that I've been putting off,
Maybe it's singing that I haven't done for a while that makes me feel so much joy.
Perhaps it's creating some art,
Painting,
Sculpture,
Whatever it is.
Let yourself find out more about who you are through your creative expression.
Be focused on who you are,
What's coming through you.
And when you look at what others are doing,
You feel happy.
Happy for them.
Because you are happy and joyful inside yourself,
Doing what it is,
Creating what it is that you're meant to create and share and contribute into the world.
So I hope that you breathe this into your heart and that you create more than you consume and let go of the contracted small energy of comparing.
And let yourself shine.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Wonderful. Your words were exactly what I needed. Thanks to you I started making time for creation. It’s such a beautiful idea that one is the antidote to the other. Thank you 🙏🏼
