Welcome,

Asha Kennedy,

Creativity catalyst and mentor for women who want to do less and be more.

Today,

I'm going to invite you to look at a different way of working with your clients and how to offer your work in a different way that moves us out of fear and more into that deeper heart and soul intuitive place of working and sharing with our clients and inviting them to do the same.

And I'm going to offer a different perspective and a little meditation at the end of the talk to bring you into this place,

This deeper connection to what your clients really want.

So if you're in business,

If you have work,

A service that you offer into the world,

This might be helpful for you.

Now years ago,

One of the business strategies I learned was to answer the question that my potential clients have.

And that question is,

What's in it for me?

I was taught that this is what clients really want to know,

Bottom line,

What's in it for me?

And if you can answer that question,

Then they're more likely to buy your service.

Now perhaps there is some truth in this,

But it never really landed well with me.

I didn't feel 100% in alignment with that.

Because that question,

What's in it for me,

Also has another side.

What's in it for me can become an unconscious force that interferes with making clearer decisions based on one's inner authority and intuitive knowing.

And the reason that is,

Is because that question,

What's in it for me,

Comes from the mind and the nature of mind,

As you know,

Is limited,

Narrow,

And fearful.

So we can choose to move through that limitation of that question and find another way.

We can choose to deepen our own self-trust and listen to our intuitive knowing when making a decision and trust that our clients can do the same.

I've noticed this question has habitually popped up in myself.

And to be honest,

I'm moving in a different direction from the what's in it for me focus.

And I'm no longer answering that question because I don't want to use any form or energy of fear in my offerings,

In my work,

And really in my life.

And I don't want to be subjected to buying out of fear as well.

So I investigated this question and that fear in myself.

And for example,

When I used to ask that question,

Well,

What's in it for me,

When I was looking at an offering,

One of the fears I uncovered was my fear of potentially wasting my money.

And that's a real fear,

Especially if you don't have much and you want to buy something and you're spending all this money.

And because of that fear,

I thought I needed to have an answer to what's in it for me in order to make the decision to buy or not.

But really that question arose in me because of a distrust in myself and that distrust in myself fueled the question in the first place.

And really the truth is we don't know the whole picture in advance of what's in it for us.

Life simply doesn't work like that.

We can discern,

Determine,

Make educated,

Knowledgeable decisions,

But well,

Hopefully there will always be an element of unknowing of what lies ahead.

And what's important is learning to trust in that unknowing and make decisions from a deeper place.

The strategy of answering what's in it for me for our clients,

Because we believe that's what they really want to know,

Is a strategy that does work.

I've seen it work.

Be that as it may,

I am personally moving away from that focus and I'm inviting you to do the same.

I would rather work with clients who are ready to go deeper into self-trust and explore what it would mean to bring their work into the world through the lens of reciprocity,

Gratitude,

And a deepening recognition of the interconnectedness of life.

So instead of the question,

What's in it for me,

The clients I enjoy working with are more likely to focus on questions like,

What wants to be created through me right now?

How can I align more to my life purpose?

What's my role within the collective whole?

What contribution do I make through the work I do?

And how does it benefit?

These are kinds of questions I love exploring with my clients.

And they're different.

They come from a deeper place,

From a heart and soul place,

Not from the mind,

Not from fear.

And when I work in this way,

We are collectively sharing our answers,

Visions,

Challenges,

Fears so we can move beyond that question,

What's in it for me?

So I invite you now to do a little meditation with me.

So find yourself either sitting comfortably or lying down.

And just feel the support that's underneath your physical body right now.

And let yourself soften a little bit into that support.

Moving out of the head,

The mental realm and down into our heart.

I'm going to connect to the breath and just feel the breath flowing in,

Flowing out,

Perhaps even expanding a little bit more.

So the breath is fuller than we normally breathe.

And you can place one hand on your chest at your heart and one down just below your navel at the sacral center,

The center of our creativity,

Joy,

Pleasure.

And as you continue to feel into your body,

Let it take you out of your head.

Let it take you with the riding of the breath into that deeper inner knowing.

And you can invite your business to be with you now,

Right beside you.

I'm going to offer you these questions and when I offer the questions,

See if you can stay with your body and your breath and not try to grasp the answer through the mind.

And if there is no answer,

Then let it be.

There's no need to grasp or force for an answer.

So perhaps you'll have one,

Perhaps not,

Perhaps the answer will come later.

Create as much space as you can around this as you stay connected with your breath and your body,

Feeling your heart going deeper into your inner knowing.

And the first question is,

What wants to be created through me right now?

And again,

If nothing arises,

It's perfect,

Just let it be or perhaps something came instantaneously.

How can I align more to my life purpose?

Now remember the life purpose isn't this big thing.

It can be.

Life purpose is how you live and the joy that you feel and doing things that bring you joy,

That's your life purpose.

So how can you align more to that?

And as you're breathing in and out,

The next question is,

What's my role within the collective whole?

What contribution do I make through the work I do?

How does it benefit?

What's my role,

Contribution and the benefit?

Just let your hands rest by your side or on your lap.

You can always come back to this point in the meditation and have your notebook or your journal so that you can answer these.

These are wonderful questions to explore.

They go deeper into you,

Into your heart and soul and out of the head where the fearful question of what's in it for me often arises.

Now remember there's nothing wrong with asking that question.

It's a perfectly valid question,

What's in it for me.

I'm inviting you to go a little bit deeper and to trust in not knowing,

To trust your inner authority,

Your intuition that says yes,

Even if you don't know the whole picture yet and make decisions based on that.

And when you are operating in this way yourself,

You're inviting clients,

The people you want to work with to come in and work with you in the same way.

I hope you find this helpful.

I hope you find it expansive and hope it deepens you into your heart and soul so that you can bring forth the work that you're meant to do in the world.

Bring that gift in.

Love and gratitude.
