Learning Acceptance Meditation
Join me for this 17-minute guided meditation for total acceptance. Acceptance is a state of awareness where there is nothing to fix and nothing to solve. Within you or around you. Acceptance is asking yourself... 'Can I be with this moment without wishing for the next? 'Can I accept that this moment may not be how I’d like it to be, but can I still lean into the beauty, the relevance and the wisdom of this moment?'

Welcome to today's meditation.
The theme for today's meditation is acceptance.
So relaxing into a position of your choice and either closing down your eyes or taking a soft gaze,
Taking your focus inward,
Taking the adventure within and just melting into whichever position you've chosen or that's available to you,
Whether that's seated or lying down.
Let's take a moment to notice what's arising for you today.
In this moment,
In this very moment,
What's present,
What's coming to the surface.
You may be called to sensation in your body,
To sound,
To smell,
There may be some outer noise that's taking your focus or some inner vibrations,
Some inner motions that are coming to the surface,
But just gently paying attention to what's here.
And your first invitation into this theme of acceptance is just allowing whatever is present to be.
Doing as best as you can,
Just letting go of this desire we often have to change what's around us,
To change the sensations,
The sounds,
Or to resist them,
To label them as good or bad.
Can you begin to turn down the volume of that voice in your head and just allow everything to be as it is,
Bringing your mindful attention to whatever arises with no judgment.
Now if you've been aroused,
Alert,
Or activated today,
Or perhaps in the moments leading up to this meditation,
Paying attention to the inner world,
Noticing your body working for you in this moment,
Noticing your heartbeat,
Your breath.
Can you feel the blood pumping around your body?
Can you begin to work with your body now,
Helping bring it back into its balance where it wants to go,
Perhaps by bringing in some slow,
Deeper breaths,
Allowing the muscles around your eyes to relax,
Softening your jaw,
Releasing any tension you're holding there,
Allowing your shoulders to drop and your breath to come and to go with ease.
Checking in with your grip,
With your fingers,
Can you soften your fingers?
Just feel this sense of letting go,
Letting any tension in your body go through the soles of your feet.
Just envision it moving through your body and draining out of your feet,
Leaving you in total surrender,
Softness.
So today's theme that we're exploring is acceptance.
In calling in acceptance is this idea of calling back our power,
Relinquishing this need to control the outer world,
Which inevitably we will never be able to do.
So it's stepping into this empowered position.
So perhaps there's something present for you today,
Something you want to bring peace to,
Something external that perhaps has not worked out,
Something that's not playing out,
Appearing as you desired or as your mind expected it to.
This is the bittersweet concept of the mind,
This persistence on trying to figure it all out,
Trying to control,
Trying to predict the future.
This is completely normal.
So first just checking in and offering yourself compassion,
Offering this softness to your mind,
This compassionate softness.
And so the question becomes,
How do we cross this gap from suffering to acceptance,
From wanting to control the outer world to allowing the outer world to be exactly as it is.
And the power here comes from remembering that we always have a choice.
We can engage our power to choose our response to the world as it unfolds.
There's a quote that goes something like 10% of life is what happens and 90% is how we react to it.
So acceptance is owning your power to choose how you react.
Acceptance is dissolving this illusion that the moment as it is right now should be any different.
So can you allow this moment right here to be?
Can you notice the resistance within your body and your mind to this moment?
And can you visualize that resistance,
That need for control,
That need to hold on?
Can you visualize it dropping through the soles of your feet along with all the tension in your body?
And you know,
Acceptance isn't about making things,
Actions,
Situations okay or condoning them.
It's not forcing ourselves to like how things are.
And it's not convincing ourselves that something good has got to come out of this or that there's a reason why this thing has happened.
Acceptance is just allowing space for things as they are without a narrative.
Can you find space right now to consider even for just a tiny moment that life is unfolding for your greatest good right now?
Even if you don't like how it looks,
You don't want it,
You have this resistance that you can't seem to shift.
Can you find just a moment to open to the potential that this could be unfolding for your greatest evolution?
Can you see the possibility of it being or giving you the opportunity to step up to the next level?
In the process of taking radical responsibility for our life,
We come to this acceptance that the outer world is a reflection of our inner world.
Is a reflection of our barriers,
The resistance we hold and the state of consciousness that we are in.
So when we allow ourselves to be open to learning,
We allow ourselves to see our environment as a mirror.
And as a mirror,
It becomes this continuous invitation to expand,
To grow,
To illuminate our blind spots and it starts working for us.
It starts showing us the way.
And to expand and to do this learning,
We don't have to do as much as we think.
We actually drain most of our energy and our life force,
Resisting life and thinking that we need to do more,
Figure out more,
Become more all the time.
And our energy actually frees up.
When we realize how much energy we're wasting,
Resisting life,
The path of least resistance is actually in the total acceptance of what is.
And from this place,
This is how and where we learn the most.
So acceptance is asking,
Can I be fully with this experience in this moment?
And in the next moment,
Asking yourself the same question,
Can I be fully with this experience in this moment?
So practicing that now,
Becoming fully present with your experience in this moment,
Being fully present with each inhale and exhale,
However it's coming and however it's going without judgment.
Can you allow your body to relax fully,
Feeling it become heavy?
And again,
Noticing any tension and resistance and visualizing everything leaving from the soles of your feet as the earth takes this from you,
Takes this weight and carries it for you.
Now I'd like you to visualize a bubble of white light surrounding your entire being.
So this light wrapping around you in the spherical shape.
And in this bubble,
You are wrapped in softness,
In peace and total acceptance.
You're feeling total acceptance for any sensation,
Vibration,
Emotion,
Anything that arises is welcome here.
Just bathing in the lightness of this white bubble.
Now is the invitation to invite in a situation of your choice that you wish to bring total acceptance to.
Taking the first situation that comes to mind and allowing it to come towards your white light,
Your white bubble,
Inviting it in,
Knowing that you have the strength,
The support and the unconditional love to hold it.
And as it comes into your bubble of white light,
Just allowing your feelings,
Any emotions to come into your awareness as this situation comes in.
Feeling yourself kindly,
Compassionately as you allow it all to exist.
Staying with your breath as you hold yourself here.
Anchoring in the observation of your body,
The sensation,
The emotion which is the energy and motion throughout your being.
Allowing yourself to become the witness to the whole experience.
Can you feel this total acceptance for this situation?
From a place of knowing that you are safe,
Supported and loved and that there is nothing to fix,
Nothing to change about this situation.
The only job is to notice and keep breathing.
Can you breathe into full acceptance?
Can you accept that this moment,
This situation may not be how you'd like it to be?
Can you inquire and look to find the beauty,
The relevance,
The wisdom of this moment and of this experience?
Can you be with this moment without wishing for the next to come?
Can you just be here with what is?
Allowing things to be exactly as they are,
Not how we wish them to be.
Not fighting them or resisting them or holding onto them is what heals you.
This is the beauty of acceptance.
From my heart to yours,
I wish you a beautiful day.
Namaste.
