As you age, you may be feeling more and more invisible. With these feelings, there are possibilities that may lead to more freedoms rather than isolation. This meditation explores perceptions of aging and reinforces your beauty within. You are beyond invisible.

This meditation is about practicing the art of reconciliation between the image others see your initial outward appearance and the image you feel and see in your mind's eye your internal true nature self.

As you continue to age each day or each moment each year there may be times when you feel an increasingly disparaging gap between how you think and feel about yourself and how others talk about you.

You may be feeling they are talking about you rather than with you because you are invisible.

Your invisibility can create a space,

A divide,

A separation,

A division between how others see you and how you see yourself.

Inhale,

Exhale.

Let me toss out a wild idea.

Your feelings of invisibility are a gift.

You can use this gift to create and define your space.

You are worth your space.

You are worth being seen by yourself and by others.

You are delicately and boldly stepping with care through a process of creation in reverse which in fact is an act of creation itself.

Be brave.

Your space is rich and vibrant and full of energy.

Inhale,

Exhale.

This is your space.

You get to decide what fills your space.

Perhaps you could hold a lens of curiosity to the image of you that others see.

Please invite your breath to take a deep inhale.

Exhale.

Perhaps you are inhaling so much that you inhale your inhale and exhale your exhale.

Let go of any ideas of accomplishment.

True,

Shifts in thinking and feeling may occur during this meditation.

The abundance of beauty in this meditation is what you bring to it.

You are always changing and so what you bring to a moment also changes.

Inhale,

Exhale.

Conjure up an image of an object that brings you feelings of ease and peace.

Perhaps a tree,

Water,

A blanket,

Or something else.

Now attached to this object,

A vacuum hose.

You can use this hose to move through your body and gather up any unwanted tensions.

Go ahead,

Vacuum up those unwanted tensions and release them.

In releasing your tensions,

You're allowing space for your new gifts to rest in a place of ease and peace.

By holding on to ideas of invisibility as darkness,

You may be blocking all of the light that truly desires to radiate all throughout your body and shine brightly onto the world.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Feel your breath connecting with your body.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Feel your body connecting with your mind.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Feel your mind connecting with your breath.

Ultimately how you are feeling right now is of far greater importance than anyone else's perspectives.

Some of us have been conditioned to listen to and respect an authority that exists out there,

Outside of our own being.

With each inhale and exhale,

You are taking a step toward honoring the authority within.

There is a saying,

Om Nama Shivaya.

This is found in the second oldest of the Vedic text,

The Yajurveda.

It's a hymn to a deity of destruction and transformation.

Now it is said that chanting this mantra can help you get rid of internal imperfections,

Limitations and sins.

Although there is no direct translation,

One translation suggests,

May the greatest that can be in this world be created within myself,

Within others and within the world.

Another meaning,

I honor the divinity within.

I invite you to take this moment and say this mantra aloud.

Om Nama Shivaya.

Some of the power in mantras is in hearing the sacredness of your sound.

Om Nama Shivaya.

There are calming and powerful reverberations you create when you say mantras.

Om Nama Shivaya.

These reverberations create a ripple effect and permeate your whole being from within and are then reflected out and projected onto the world.

Please no judgment of your pronunciation,

Rather your intent is what matters most here.

Your intention is true and supremely beautiful.

Take a moment and repeat this mantra three times.

Om Nama Shivaya.

Here you are on your journey of connecting with your true nature self.

Take this moment and truly connect with your inner self.

Here you will meet your true nature self.

You know yourself better than anyone else and yet you are still learning and have much to learn.

You are both an expert and a beginner.

You know nothing and everything.

For example,

Do you know your age?

Okay,

I invite you to set that number aside for a moment.

And now ask yourself if I was unaware of my actual age.

When asked my age,

What age would I claim to be?

Now you're beginning to identify with an age that is aligned with how you feel or desire to feel versus an age determined by your birth year and then wrapped in a set of agreed upon internal and external expectations.

I invite you to invite your mind to visualize a bridge.

Exhale.

Invite your heart to feel this bridge.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Allow your breath to breathe across your bridge.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Feel your breath flowing openly and freely across your bridge.

You are constructing a bridge of gentleness and ease between your chosen age and your given age.

Perhaps you have found yourself exploring the floor beneath your bridge.

This cavernous space of fright,

Ambition,

Angst,

And curiosity.

Perhaps your space between your ages is dark,

Maybe overgrown with flora and fauna,

Or maybe even a ubiquitous fungus stretching far and wide across your divide.

You may have even posted a no trespassing sign when you labeled aging as a very scary process.

Precisely,

It is in this void where you may be feeling invisible.

The bridge you are now constructing will allow your internal light to shine on this beautiful,

Remarkable space below.

Your light will highlight all of the beauty that makes you,

You.

This vast space of unknowns,

Wanderings and wonderings.

You are not alone,

Nor are you invisible.

Yes,

Your feelings of invisibility are very much real.

Because you have already committed to viewing your invisibility as a gift,

You are able to more fully and wholly,

Intricately and precisely create and define your spaces.

You are delicately and boldly stepping with care through a process of creation.

Be brave.

Inhale.

Exhale.

As you travel to the edge of the cliff,

You can soften your perspectives of aging by stepping with care across your bridge,

Your bridge of light and comfort,

Safety and security.

Inhale.

Exhale.

You are beyond invisible.

This was really a great meditation for someone like me, who is 63, and does feel invisible most of the time. While I still feel that way I can see how to make it my own now, and embrace it, instead of being afraid of it. It’s still lonely and painful however. I will share this with my group!! Thank you for sharing this with us. 🌺🦋💖💔🐾✨ I appreciate your thoughts on this meditation.

OM Namah Shivaya! Excellent imagery, voice, journey. I prefer longer meditations so participanted thrice. Each journey into deeper aging. Truly wonderful. So fertile the images, have much to journal.

Really helpful for those of who feel irrelevant. Reminds us of the divinity within our selves. We are in charge of our own self worth and listening to (or not listening to) what other say about us. take the high road, and never stop loving yourself!
