This meditation is about practicing the art of reconciliation between the image others see and how we feel.
Ultimately,
How we feel is of greater importance than others' perspectives.
Some of us have been conditioned to listen to and respect an authority that exists out there,
Rather than honoring the authority within.
We know ourselves better than anyone else,
And yet we are still learning and have much to learn.
We are both experts and beginners.
We know nothing and everything.
For example,
Do you know your age?
Okay,
I invite you to set that number aside for a moment.
And now,
Ask yourself,
If I was unaware of my actual age,
When asked my age,
What age would I claim to be?
Now we are beginning to identify with an age that is aligned with how we feel,
Or perhaps desire to feel,
Versus an age determined by our birth year,
And then wrapped in a set of agreed-upon internal and external expectations.
Let us visualize the construction of a bridge.
This is a bridge of gentleness and ease between our chosen age and our given age.
You may have found yourself exploring the floor beneath this bridge.
In this void,
You may be feeling invisible.
You are not alone.
Nor are you invisible.
Yes,
Your feelings of invisibility are very much real.
We can journey toward embracing the image that others see and also honoring our feelings.
We can travel to the edge of the cliff and then soften our perspective by stepping with care across this bridge.
Yes,
You are brave.
Now,
Step with care and authority.
You are worth this shift you are making.
