Welcome to Active Meditation.
A Course in Miracles,
Lesson 36 My holiness envelops everything I see.
This is a Course in Miracles.
It is a required Course.
Only the time you take it is voluntary.
Some of the ideas the exercises present,
You will find hard to believe.
And others may seem to be quite startling.
This does not matter.
You are merely asked to apply the ideas as you are directed to do.
You are not asked to judge them at all.
It is their use that will give them meaning to you and will show you that they are true.
My holiness envelops everything I see.
Today's idea extends the idea from the previous lesson,
From the perceiver to the perceived.
You are holy because your mind is part of God's.
And because you are holy,
Your sight must be holy as well.
Sinless means without sin.
You cannot be without sin a little.
You are sinless or not.
If your mind is part of God's,
You must be sinless.
For a part of God's mind would be sinful.
Your sight is related to God's holiness,
Not to your ego.
And therefore,
Not to your body.
The longer practice periods should take this form.
First,
Close your eyes and repeat the idea for today several times,
Slowly.
Then,
Open your eyes and look quite slowly about you,
Applying the idea specifically to whatever you note in your casual survey.
Say,
For example,
My holiness envelops that rug.
My holiness envelops that wall.
My holiness envelops these fingers.
My holiness envelops that chair.
My holiness envelops that body.
My holiness envelops this pen.
Several times during these practice periods,
Close your eyes and repeat the idea to yourself.
Then,
Open your eyes and continue as before.
For the shorter exercise periods,
Close your eyes and repeat the idea.
Look about you as you repeat it again and conclude with one more repetition with your eyes closed.
All applications should of course be made quite slowly,
As effortlessly and unheardly as possible.
Let's practice.
First,
Say to yourself,
Say to your mind,
Slowly,
Several times,
My holiness envelops everything I see.
Open your eyes and look quite slowly about you,
For each object you note in your casual survey.
Say to yourself,
My holiness envelops and name the object.
Do this now.
Close your eyes.
Repeat in your mind several times,
My holiness envelops everything I see.
I'll be silent.
Open your eyes.
Note random objects.
Say to yourself,
Say in your mind,
My holiness envelops,
Name the object.
Do this now.
Close your eyes.
Say in your mind,
My holiness envelops everything I see.
Four,
Three to five minute practice periods are required for today.
Try to distribute them fairly evenly and make the shorter applications frequently to protect your protection throughout the day.
My holiness envelops everything I see.
The purpose of the workbook is to train your mind in a systematic way to a different perception of everyone and everything in the world.
The exercises are planned to help you generalize the lessons so that you will understand that each of them is equally applicable to everyone and everything you see.
My holiness envelops everything I see.
Remember only this.
You need not believe the ideas.
You need not accept them.
And you need not even welcome them.
Some of them you may actively resist.
None of this will matter or decrease their efficacy.
But do not allow yourself to make exceptions in applying the ideas the workbook contains.
And whatever your reactions to the ideas may be,
Use them.
Nothing more than that is required.
My holiness envelops everything I see.
Let's return our awareness to our physical body.
Start this process by taking a few deep breaths.
And as we return to time and space,
We acknowledge,
I am aware.
I am.
Nothing real can be threatened.
Nothing unreal exists.
Herein lies the peace of God.
