A Course in Miracles Lesson 185 I Want the Peace I want the peace of God.
To say these words is nothing.
To mean these words is everything.
I want the peace of God.
If you could mean these words for just an instant,
There would be no further sorrow possible for you in any form,
In any place,
In any time.
I want the peace of God.
If you could mean these words for just an instant,
Heaven would be completely given back to you in full awareness.
Your memory of God entirely restored.
The resurrection of all creation fully recognized.
Say in your mind,
Repeat after me,
I want the peace of God.
You want the peace of God and it is given you.
No one can mean these words and not be healed.
Say in your mind,
I want the peace of God.
Many have said these words,
But few indeed have meant them.
You only have to look upon the world you see To be sure how very few people there are who mean these words,
I want the peace of God.
To mean you want the peace of God is to renounce all dreams.
I want the peace of God.
Let us today devote our practice to recognizing that we really mean the words we say.
When you say,
I want the peace of God,
This is no idle wish.
These words do not request another dream be given.
I want the peace of God.
To mean these words acknowledges illusions are in vain.
To mean these words acknowledges that we are requesting the eternal in the place of shifting dreams.
Dreams which seem to change in what they offer.
Dreams that are one in nothingness.
Today devote your practice periods to careful searching of your mind to find the dreams you cherish still.
Now spend a few moments in careful searching of your mind.
Find the dreams you still cherish.
What do you really ask for in your heart?
Ask yourself,
Is this dream of comfort what I would have in the place of God,
In the place of heaven?
This is a choice you make.
Do not be deceived that it is otherwise.
Is this dream of comfort what I would have in the place of heaven,
In the place of God?
How can we fail today as we request the peace of God be given us?
I want the peace.
Nothing real can be threatened.
Nothing unreal exists.
Herein lies the peace of God.
