"There is one life, and that I share with God." This lesson emphasizes the oneness between ourselves and our Creator. It teaches that the life we experience is an eternal, unchanging, and shared reality with God. By recognizing this oneness, we release the illusions of separation, fear, and conflict, allowing us to experience true peace and love. The lesson encourages us to let go of the belief in individual identity and embrace the idea that we are forever united with God and all of creation.

Welcome to Active Meditation A Course in Miracles Lesson 167 There is one life,

And that I share with God.

There are not different kinds of life,

For life is like the truth.

Life does not have degrees.

Life is the one condition in which all that God created share.

Like all of God's thoughts,

Life has no opposite.

There is no death,

Because what God created shares His life.

There is no death,

Because an opposite to God does not exist.

There is no death,

Because the father and the child are one.

In this world,

There appears to be a state that is life's opposite.

You call it death.

We have learned that the idea of death takes many forms.

Death is the one idea which underlies all feelings that are not supremely happy.

Death is the alarm to which you give a response of any kind that is not perfect joy.

All sorrow,

Loss,

Anxiety,

Suffering,

And pain,

Even a little sigh of weariness,

Or a slight comfort,

Or the merest frown,

All of these in some way acknowledge death,

And thus deny you live.

You think that death is of the body,

Yet death is but an idea,

Irrelevant to what is seen as physical.

The thought appears in the mind.

This thought can then be applied as mind directs it.

But it is the thought's origin where it must be changed,

If change occurs.

Say to yourself,

Say in your mind,

There is one life,

And that I share with God.

There is one life,

And that I share with God.

Remember ideas leave not their source.

The emphasis this course has placed upon that idea is due to its centrality in our attempts to change your mind about yourself.

The idea that ideas leave not their source is the reason that you can heal.

Ideas leave not their source is the cause of healing.

That ideas leave not their source is why you cannot die.

The truth of this idea has established you as one with God.

Death is the thought that you are separate from your creator.

Death is the belief that conditions change.

Death is the belief that emotions alternate because of causes.

Causes you cannot control,

Causes you did not make,

And causes you can never change.

Death is the fixed belief that ideas can leave their source and take on qualities the source does not contain.

That ideas can become different from their own origin,

Apart from its origin in kind,

As well as in distance,

In time,

And in form.

Death cannot come from life.

Ideas remain united to their source.

Ideas can extend all that their source contains.

In that,

Ideas can go far beyond themselves.

Ideas cannot give birth to what was never given them.

As ideas are made,

So will their making be.

As ideas were born,

So will they then give birth.

Where ideas come from,

There will they return.

The mind can think it sleeps,

But that is all.

The mind cannot change what is its waking state.

The mind cannot make a body nor abide within a body.

What is alien to the mind does not exist because it has no source.

Our mind creates all things that are.

The mind cannot give things attributes the mind does not have.

The mind cannot change its own eternal mindful state.

The mind cannot make the physical.

What seems to die is but the sign of mindless sleep.

The opposite of life can only be another form of life.

As such,

Life can be reconciled with what created it.

Because life has no opposite in truth,

Life's form may change and life may appear to be what it is not.

Mind is mind,

Awake or sleeping.

Mind is not its opposite in anything created.

Mind is not its opposite in what it seems to make when it believes it sleeps.

God creates only mind awake.

God does not sleep.

God's creations cannot share what he does not give.

God does not make conditions which he does not share with his creations.

The thought of death is not the opposite to thoughts of life.

Forever unopposed by opposites of any kind,

The thoughts of God remain forever changeless,

With the power to extend forever,

Changelessly,

Within themselves,

For the thoughts of God are everywhere.

What seems to be the opposite of life is merely sleeping.

When the mind elects to be what it is not,

It merely seems to go to sleep a while.

When the mind assumes an alien power which it does not have,

A foreign state it cannot enter.

When the mind assumes a false condition not within its source,

It merely seems to go to sleep a while.

The mind dreams of time,

An interval in which what seems to happen has never occurred.

The changes wrought have no substance,

And all events are nowhere.

When the mind awakes,

It then continues as it always was.

Repeat in your mind after me,

There is one life,

And that I share with God.

Ideas leave not their source.

Ponder on this.

There is one life,

And that I share with God.

Ideas leave not their source.

Let us today be children of the truth,

And not deny our holy heritage.

Our life is not as we imagine it.

Who changes life because they shut their eyes?

Who makes themselves what they are not because they sleep?

But who sees in dreams an opposite to what they are?

We will not ask for death in any form today.

We will not let imagine opposites to life abide even an instant where the thought of life eternal has been set by God himself.

We strive to keep today God's home holy as he established it,

And as he wills it be forever and forever.

God is Lord of what we think today.

In God's thoughts,

Which have no opposite,

We understand there is one life.

We share that life with God,

With all creation,

With their thoughts as well,

Whom he created in a unity of life that cannot separate in death,

Who cannot leave the source of life from where it came.

We share one life because we have one source,

A source from which perfection comes to us,

Remaining always in the holy minds which God created perfect.

As we were,

So are we now,

And will be forever.

A sleeping mind must awaken as it sees its own perfection,

Mirroring the Lord of life so perfectly that the once sleeping mind fades into what is reflected there.

And now it sleeps no more,

A mere reflection.

The sleeping mind becomes the thing reflected and becomes the light which makes reflection possible.

No vision is now needed.

Take a few moments and reflect on this.

The wakened mind is a mind that knows its source.

The wakened mind knows itself.

The awakened mind knows its holiness.

There is one life,

And that I share with God.

Nothing real can be threatened.

Nothing unreal exists.

Herein lies the peace of God.
