Lectio Divina,

Or divine reading,

Is an ancient prayer method and means of spiritual growth used up until the 10th century.

It's an organic process of mind,

Heart and spirit in a connective contemplation.

There are four movements to read,

Lectio,

To meditate,

Meditatio,

To speak or pray oratio and to contemplate,

Contemplatio.

The process can take as long a time as you wish it to do.

I will prompt you within each stage and within each stage you can simply pause your device until you're ready to move on.

It begins then with a reading and as I read the words to you a few times you may find yourself caught,

Caught by the heart,

Caught by the mind,

Caught by the spirit,

With a word or set of words and these will form the basis of your contemplation.

So let's begin.

Out of the depths I cry to you Lord,

Oh Lord hear my voice,

Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.

If you Lord keep a record of sins,

Lord who could stand?

But with you there is forgiveness so that we can with reverence serve you.

I wait for the Lord,

My whole being waits and in his word I put my hope.

And now we gently reflect on the word or phrase that has caught you,

Meditate you.

And now allowing your heart to be touched,

Asking for understanding or allowing a question from your inner self to surface as you move into a ratio,

Speaking or praying.

C Hands moving into contemplation.

Opening the heart and the mind and waiting.

Opening to a deep contemplation.

Waiting to receive insight.

Opening the heart and the mind and waiting.

And whatever revelation may or may not have arisen,

It might apply now or make itself known to you in the future.
