Welcome to your practice.

Before you begin,

Please make sure that you're comfortable and that you're in a quiet space with enough time to relax and enjoy this experience.

I'd like to introduce you to a practice that brings awareness to the energetic polarity between your coccyx,

Which is your tailbone,

To the crown of your head,

Or the crown chakra above your head.

This meditation brings awareness to these extreme ends of the spine,

And it brings to light how the 1st chakra and the 7th chakra are remotely paired,

And allowing you to sense a continuous current or flow of energy between the two,

Both on a physical and metaphysical level.

To be fully human means to balance between heaven,

The space above your head,

And the earth,

The pelvic diaphragm at your base,

At your seat,

Connecting and grounding you to the earth.

This exercise serves to harmonize the upward-moving yang energy and the downward-moving yin energy while circulating the prana,

Or the life force,

Within the body.

The focus is to descend the energy of the brain to the base while simultaneously lifting it upward from this well of vitality in the lower pelvic region,

Connecting you to your creativity and resourcefulness.

So let's begin by assuming a comfortable seated pose,

And place the crown of your head directly over your pelvis.

Take your time.

And then settling into a soft breath.

Just soft,

Steady inhalations,

Soft exhalations.

Please place the tip of the middle finger of one hand at the tip of your coccyx,

At the tip of your tailbone,

And the tip of the middle finger of your other hand onto the crown of your head.

Take your time.

Sensing these extreme ends of your spinal column,

And see if you can imagine that these two points share a magnetic resonance.

Sensing a pulsation,

A current running between the two.

See if you can sense a vibration between your fingers at these extreme ends of your spine.

Now place the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth.

This is also a point connecting to the conception vessel,

Or the governing vessel,

According to Chinese medicine.

Completing an internal circuit by placing the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth.

And then release your fingertip contact at the tailbone and the crown,

And let your hands rest in your lap.

Continue to keep your tongue to the roof of your mouth.

Begin with a soft,

Steady breath.

Descend your breathing into the area of your navel.

A few long,

Steady,

Soft breaths,

Moving the breath down into the area of your navel,

Allowing your attention to follow your breathing.

Concentrate on expanding your inhalation into the lowest part of your abdomen now,

Between your navel and the pelvic floor.

Sense this as a downward movement.

Every inhale,

Expanding your awareness down into the lowest part of your abdomen,

Between your navel and the pelvic floor.

With your attention,

Bring focus to the energy in your spine.

And imagine moving it upward from the tailbone,

Up along the spine.

Imagine drawing a steady stream of energy upward along the back of your spine to the area of your brainstem at the back of your skull.

Lift the back of your skull gently upward now,

And sense or imagine an ascending movement to the crown of your head.

This apex of the cranium is where the hundred meeting point of all meridians in Chinese medicine converge in the body,

A powerful energy point,

A powerful meeting point of a hundred meridians converging into one.

Now inhale down the front of your body,

Visualizing the breath descending from the forehead over your face and throat,

Along the neck,

Across your sternum,

The breastbone,

And abdomen,

Down to below your navel where you started the circuit.

And continue to create a slow circular orbiting loop with your breath between the pelvic area and the top of your skull without controlling or overthinking,

Just sensing or imagining this orbiting loop pulsating between the base of your pelvis and the top of your crown.

Fully immerse yourself in the experience,

Allowing yourself to be more aware of your energetic experience than you are of the technique of the practice.

Soft steady breaths,

Allowing the energy to circulate between the base of your pelvis and the crown of your head,

Allowing your awareness to bathe in the sensation of your own energy,

Resting here,

Breathing here,

And drinking from your own cup of internal resourcefulness.

And in continuing to focus on the soft steady flow of your breath,

Slowly coming back to your senses,

Coming back to the experience of your physical body,

Feel yourself grounded in your seat,

Connected to the earth,

Grounded in your awareness.

And when you're ready,

Take a moment to close your practice.

And with this energy that you've created for yourself,

You can move out into the rest of your day revitalized and filled with your own presence.

Namaste.
