Welcome to the fourth of your seven chakra meditations in rewiring your nervous system this week.

We are going to be centering our awareness in the center of the heart,

Located right in the center of your chest,

Directly over your heart.

To begin,

Please find a comfortable seated position.

Straighten your spine and allow your thoughts to settle.

Allow your awareness to move down from the head,

Through the throat,

To the base of your heart.

Connect to your breathing.

And feel the breath move in and out of your chest,

In and out of the center,

Allowing your breath to be soft and subtle.

Begin feeling into this area of your heart as you receive its resonance,

As you receive its vibrations.

You may even like to place one or both hands over your heart to give you a better feeling,

A better connection to the area of your heart space.

Your heart is the center point between the more physically concerned chakras and the more ethereal energy centers.

It is the unifier between spirit and body.

And it is the first organ to manifest in a fetus.

It is a central generator of love.

And love is its central theme.

It is associated with the frequency of healing,

As vibrationally speaking,

Love is the highest frequency of all.

The heart is associated with compassion,

Forgiveness,

Emotional safety,

Gratitude,

Hope and trust,

Generosity and joy,

Kindness and connection.

It has the capacity to bring you into full integration and therefore into wholeness.

And it maintains that we are eternally connected to all that is.

I'm just taking a moment here to allow yourself to settle deep down into the heart space,

Remaining connected to your breathing,

Feeling the breath move in and out of the chest.

The heart is associated with the color green,

More specifically,

An emerald green and the element of air.

Maybe you'd like to imagine a bright green emerald color in the center of your chest.

The heart governs your circulatory system and emotional regulation.

It governs the lungs,

Shoulders and arms,

The hands,

Your lymphatic system and the thymus gland.

Our brains are,

In fact,

Governed by our heart chakra.

The heart sends messages to the brain and the brain then obeys these messages.

And by deeply tuning into this,

By deeply tuning into the power at our heart,

We can practice truly speaking from the heart and therefore speaking with truth.

On the other hand,

What closes the heart so quickly is criticism.

It is the one vibration that makes the heart shrink and the heart chakra close really,

Really fast.

And this then could bring the heart chakra out of alignment.

Any hurt in conjunction with the connection to other people closes the heart chakra.

And both positive and negative emotional states that apply to our relationships with other people are governed by the heart center.

Therefore,

The connection that we have with ourselves and with other people can so deeply affect the way we feel.

And often this is associated with the feeling that we have at the center of our chest and the area of our heart.

Around the heart,

There is a membrane called the pericardium.

It's a fluid-filled sac that essentially protects and nurtures the heart,

Both on a physical and metaphysical level.

The emotional energy that you feel affects the pericardium and the fluid within the sac.

And it takes on the vibration of the emotion that you are experiencing.

The pericardium is essentially a wall that protects the heart.

And it does so naturally in a way for love to both come in and flow out.

It acts as a medium between the internal and the external experience between your feeling inner space,

Your feeling heart,

And what you bring out to the world,

And vice versa.

The hurt you experience through life strengthens or thickens this heart wall,

Thickens the pericardium,

And sometimes enables love to flow in and out.

It's like the wall of the heart becomes a little bit stronger to protect us,

A little bit better.

So now I'd like you to center yourself in your heart,

Connect to that feeling in your chest,

And ask yourself what emotions do you think you're struggling with that may keep you from opening your heart and that keep your heart closed and guarded?

I'm just feeling into that for a moment.

Are there any emotional memories that may be unhealed?

The repression of emotion is the undoing of the heart chakra.

It closes it.

So the more we can become aware of our feelings and express those feelings and let them flow instead of holding on to our emotions,

The more healthy and open our heart chakra can express itself in the way that we speak to ourselves in turn,

The way we hold ourselves,

And the way that we nurture and harbor self-love opens or closes the heart chakra as well.

If you're in a very critical relationship with yourself,

This will very quickly close the center at your chest.

Breathing into the heart chakra and imagining it opening will allow you to tune into a deeper,

More aware,

And more open and honest relationship with yourself and with your ways of practicing self-love.

It will allow the heart chakra to both freely emit and absorb energy.

Again,

Relating to the external world through your sense of feeling and also receiving from the external world and internalizing.

And again,

For another moment,

Allowing this to settle into your heart space,

Contemplating the feeling aspect of your heart.

And you may ask yourself,

What does my heart need in order for it to remain open?

And this is a process that you can't muscle or wrestle yourself through.

If you're trying to break through the wall around your heart,

It will just resist even more.

It will protect itself and guard itself even more.

So you got to hold the space gently and ask it to trust you.

And the safest tool to apply here is to first really feel deeply into the space of your heart and then allow the breath to naturally move in and out.

Let it come in and out of your heart as if the breath is acting as a means of communication,

A means of communication with yourself and the way that your internal world relates to the external world.

And taking just one moment longer here to fully rest in the space of your heart,

Resting in the center of your being,

Allowing any insights to embody itself and possibly contemplating the ways in which you can speak from the heart,

Contemplating the ways in which you can authentically live from the heart in your everyday life,

Speaking from your truth.

And you can practice this as we did in the beginning,

Allowing your thoughts to come,

Allowing your awareness to move down through the throat into the space of your heart,

Allowing your awareness to settle in the space of your heart.

And then whatever you'd like to express to bring that up from the space of your heart through the throat and out into the world.

And with that,

Take a gentle moment to close your practice.

And then heading out into the rest of your hours of your day,

Centered in the feeling of your heart.

Namaste.
