Hello,
Dear people,
Welcome to another unique opportunity we give ourselves to stop the rush,
Hold hands and walk the path together,
Not just as individuals but also as a united consciousness that is asking and answering and expanding in this process.
So your responsibility in this conversation is to be engaged,
Ask,
Use this opportunity to shed any load,
Any barrier,
Any difficulty,
Doubt,
Fear,
Any form of suffering that you feel that is still hanging there between you and an awakened consciousness.
Allow me just to share that this week I was blessed to be in the presence of my teacher who came to visit our side of the world in Calgary and in Edmonton.
It was a blissful few days to be engulfed with this nectar of unconditional love and to be reminded about our true essence.
And that's the blessing I bring today with me.
Use it,
Don't let it slip away.
So who would like to be the first one to bathe in the shower of unconditional love?
As you can see,
Carly is not blessing us with her presence today.
She had to go help a woman deliver a baby.
I'll do my best to sound the voice of the Sincere Seeker for you.
But the Sincere Seeker has to get into the spotlights.
By the way,
I call this specific meeting Stop Making Sense.
And why did I do that?
First of all,
Because I love the Talking Heads and they have a beautiful album called Stop Making Sense,
Which I recommend.
And also,
I have this sense that trying to make sense occupies too much of our attention.
And the blessings of the stillness that can be found within is often obscured by the demand to make sense,
To get the point,
To understand.
To figure that if we can figure it out,
We'll be able to achieve it.
And that urge prevents direct experience of that.
We fool ourselves to believe it's an achievement that is caused by a successful process,
By our effort.
But that's not the case.
So,
As long as we try to obtain it,
The further away it gets from us.
Stop Making Sense is honoring the mystery.
What do you say?
Now it's your turn.
You know,
People drift in and out of this meeting.
Peeping in just to see what's going on,
What are they talking about?
I tell you,
To shift that agenda.
Is there something interesting here?
Can I gain anything,
Any new insight?
Would that be entertaining?
Should I invest my time in this?
You can keep on spiritually shopping like that till the end of days.
That's the wrong attitude.
Okay,
Barbara is asking,
I have an idea,
Notion,
Expectation that a united consciousness will feel good,
But my feelings are irrelevant to the silence too.
You're right,
My desire to have it make sense and feel good gets in the way.
Beautifully said,
Barbara.
Consciously or unconsciously,
There are terms that we set to what enlightenment should look like.
Isn't it?
We have this idea of some beautifully white-gowned individual sitting on the Himalayas somewhere where there's no noise,
But the birds singing and the wind blowing,
Or whatever.
It should feel good,
It should be pleasant,
Rewarding.
But what's common to all of those ideas,
Without exception,
Is that they describe a reality different than the one that we are currently experiencing.
What we currently have,
Where we are,
As we are,
Is never good enough,
Is never satisfying enough.
There must be something else.
The reality as it is cannot be what enlightenment looks like.
Or the version of myself cannot be worthy of that experience.
There must be a better version,
More sophisticated version,
More compassionate,
More loving,
More,
I don't know what.
The ideas you have about yourself.
But they all describe an alternative reality,
Not the one that you experience right here,
Right now.
Isn't it?
So keeping that attitude ensures that you will never experience it.
Because enlightenment doesn't happen somewhere else,
Some other time,
In some other circumstances.
That's never the case.
That was never the case to begin with.
Hmm?
Rabbi is saying,
Yes,
I understand the words,
But forget all too often.
That's why we are gathering here every week to remind ourselves.
And you're right,
My words means nothing.
Sitting here,
Expecting to hear the words,
The right words that will open the door for me.
It's a waste of time.
I tell you,
It's never about what I say.
It's nice to have,
But it's not about that.
That's why the title of our discussions,
Our weekly discussion,
The title is not the issue at all.
I can write anything.
It's just a hook to fish you back home.
The wise disciple will always look for what is hiding between the words,
Between the ideas and concepts.
It will always focus on the skies behind the clouds,
Between the clouds.
You see what I'm saying?
Cassie's saying,
I spend a lot of mental energy trying to make sense of things.
It's like an underlying thought running in the back of my mind.
I often don't realize it's happening.
It's exhausting.
I can feel how letting go of the expectation to make sense holds so much freedom.
Yes,
Smell that freedom.
Smell it.
It has a scent.
Smell that freedom.
Take a deep breath.
Breathe it in.
Isn't it wonderful?
It's just one breath away.
Honor the mystery.
The most beautiful things in life comes with no explanation.
Isn't it?
The most cherished things in life.
You cannot explain and there's no point.
Try to explain love.
Can you explain it?
Can you rationalize it?
Can you formulate it in some way that can be artificially manufactured again and again?
No.
And if you were able to do so,
It would lose its charm,
Its magic.
It would become industrialized.
What's the point?
Isn't it?
The fact that it's a mystery is so valuable.
Cherish the mystery.
Don't be afraid of it.
Don't try to eliminate it.
Remember,
The greatest realization your intellect can achieve is the realization that it is not here to understand.
The mystery.
That's not what the intellect is here for.
It cannot do it and there's no point trying.
Understanding the mystery.
Solving that.
No need to and there is no point.
Once your intellect has developed to reach that realization,
It lets go of the inherent demand to understand,
To control,
To manipulate.
It is all because of me.
It is all thanks to me.
I know.
I understand.
Let go of that.
It's an illusion.
Embrace the mystery.
This is a feminine quantity,
Quality,
Sorry,
Feminine quality that is in you.
Embrace the mystery.
Allow life to happen around you and within you without trying to explain it to yourself.
Allow the horse to take you home without trying to navigate the path by yourself.
Don't try to ride the horse.
To control it.
Allow it.
Can you sense,
Can you smell how much freedom there is there?
And yet for some reason you won't.
You won't allow that to happen.
And my invitation is always go back and ask yourself what is holding you back from truly surrendering?
It's always a type of fear.
What are you afraid of?
Surrender is what happens when you outgrow your own fears.
You don't even need to adopt that additive.
It's just the result of you overcoming your fears.
The natural outcome of that state of mind.
Fearless.
What do you say?
And one more comment about Cassie's words.
Realize that when you feel exhausted,
It's not because whatever is happening,
Not even the fact that you're thinking a specific thought.
Even if it's a repetitive thought,
That's not what causes exhaustion.
What causes exhaustion,
What causes you to burn out energy over nothing and to feel out of energy,
Life force,
Is you objecting the reality that you experience.
Rejecting it.
So whatever you do,
Doesn't matter if it's a physical work or emotional or intellectual work,
Whatever.
Whatever action that you're involved in,
It's never the cause of your exhaustion.
You believing that this should not happen,
Something else should happen.
I'm thinking a thought by believing I should not think that thought.
A different thought should be there,
Not that one.
That what is burning energy.
And if you are holding into that position of I know versus what is,
You will be exhausted 100% because now you're trying to swim against the current and this is exhausting.
How long can you swim against the current?
And what would happen to your life force when you submit yourself to the flow of life as it happens?
Think about it,
Imagine that.
AJ is saying the body's exhaustion seems to impact the clarity of the spirit,
Realizing that I'm not the body,
How to maintain our life force when the vessel is tired.
You know our body is a physical tool,
It has its own limitations of course.
What to do when the body is tired?
Rest.
You know,
Eat right,
Make sure that your diet meets your body's needs.
In terms of what you eat,
How much you eat,
When you eat,
This is very important.
And rest.
And if you don't have time to rest,
Meditate.
You know,
It's like squeezing sleep into 10 minutes.
A couple of hours of sleep in 10 minutes if you meditate.
Use breathing techniques.
There are many guided meditations you can find on my Insight timer page.
Practice.
You know,
And then meditative state of mind.
What does it mean?
Stop arguing with life.
I tell you,
This is what burns energy.
If you feel exhausted on a daily basis,
You must look into your set of beliefs.
And recognize all the times that you open a gap between what is and what you believe,
It should have been.
I tell you,
You live in that gap.
No wonder you feel exhausted.
So do that.
Do that.
Make it your daily routine.
And you'll see you'll feel less exhausted,
100%.
So,
Eat right,
Drink right,
Rest right,
Breathe right.
Meditative state of mind.
Yes,
April is saying,
What if you always fall asleep when you meditate?
You know,
There are four stages of consciousness,
State of consciousness,
Four.
One is awake,
The other one is asleep,
Then dreaming,
Then meditating.
Four states your consciousness can be in.
And sleep and meditation are very close,
Very similar.
You know,
In meditation you are in a deep rest,
Like sleeping,
Like a deep sleep.
But unlike sleeping,
You are aware.
So it's not like you are just oblivious to reality and you just,
You know,
Rest and you are completely gone.
In meditation,
You are very restful,
But alert.
Restful alertness.
So if you tend to fall asleep while meditating,
What you can do is just sit up straight.
You know,
Keep your spine erect.
Don't lean back on something,
Just sit.
It might be uncomfortable,
It's okay.
Be uncomfortable.
This will help you stay awake.
April is saying,
I do housework and other tasks instead of sitting still,
So I won't fall asleep.
Yeah,
You can do that.
You know,
Meditation is not just sitting,
Saying,
Oh,
You know,
Closing your eyes and trying to look like the Buddha.
Meditation is a state of mind.
The practice of meditation is to bring that state of mind,
Invite it.
So some can do it while sitting,
Chanting OM,
Or others can do it while,
You know,
Maybe walking or swimming,
Some physical activity,
You know,
Painting,
Doing some art,
Can reach meditative state of mind in many ways.
Silly saying.
By thinking,
You sometimes see that your attitude can change the problem and feelings about it.
By thinking,
You sometimes see that your attitude can change the problem and feeling about it.
So you see that the chance,
So you see that the change,
A change is a solution.
Not sure I understand English.
But definitely,
When observing reality,
You realize a very important aspect of life that it's usually hidden behind our drama.
And what you realize is that in life there is no problem.
We generate a problem when we believe it should have been different.
Then it becomes a problem,
Isn't it?
If you just observe and you have no opinion about it,
No agenda.
If you just observe reality,
You realize it becomes flawless,
Perfect.
Isn't it?
There is no problem.
There was never a problem.
We create the problem when we believe,
Oh,
I know how it should be.
I know what,
I know a better version of reality.
This is not good enough.
Let's start working to change reality so it would look similar to what I have in mind.
Isn't it?
Then it's a big problem.
Do you see what I'm saying?
This is crucial.
Tell me.
I want some feedback.
Do you see what I'm saying?
Yes.
Only Cassie understands what I'm saying here now.
Oh,
Barbara also.
And Brooke.
Good,
Good.
AJ is asking,
Difference between doing and being.
The difference between doing and being.
The doing is an expression of the being in the physical realm.
Okay.
Let me say that again.
The doing is an expression of the being in the physical realm.
So your being is being expressed as an action.
If your being is disharmonious,
Full of conflict and doubt and fear and anger and resentment,
Your doing will be an expression of that.
Right?
It will be disharmonious and it will create disharmony.
It's inevitable.
Hence the human drama.
If your being is resolved of that,
If your being is an expression of harmony,
Your doing will be an expression of that.
And this is a karma yoga.
It's an action that doesn't generate new karma.
Do you see what I'm saying?
If you act out of fear and a sense of lack and need,
You have an agenda.
This creates karma.
But if you are an expression of all conditional love,
An expression of abundance,
There is no luck in abundance.
You are abandoned already.
There's nothing that's supposed to happen out there.
To create that for you.
You are an expression of it already.
Then no new karma is generated.
Do you see what I'm saying?
So don't look for the answer in the action.
Don't focus on the action like everybody else is judging you by what you do.
Go deeper.
Don't judge because what other people are doing or because what you are doing.
Go deeper and look for the motivation.
Look what generates that action.
Make sure that your actions are an expression of unconditional love,
Of abundance,
Of inner harmony.
Inner harmony.
This will create an harmonious action.
Yes?
Silly saying.
The overthinking is the problem.
There is no problem.
You don't believe me?
So if the problem is not outside,
The problem is probably with me.
I am the problem.
I and how much I think about it.
This is a problem.
You see,
You just find a new target to blame for your own misery.
It used to be other people.
Now it's me and my tendencies.
No,
No,
No.
Realize there is no problem.
There was never a problem.
Just relax.
Let go.
AJ,
As a Jew,
You don't see any problem with Hitler?
How do you process him?
I don't.
I don't need to.
Hitler died 80 years ago.
It's not an issue.
The guy in the grocery shop that is behaving rudely.
I have to deal with him.
Can I express unconditional love to that?
My dog who peed on the rug again this morning.
I have to deal with that.
Do you see what I'm saying?
Deal with the reality that you meet,
Not with some ideas and concepts about right and wrong,
Good or bad.
And in that reality that you meet,
See if you can find perfection.
See if you can realize perfection.
It is perfect.
Reality as it is manifested is perfect.
Can you see that or are you still obscured by opinions and ideas?
Hmm?
What are you saying?
My family are so opinionated and judgmental.
Yeah,
Many,
Many people are.
It's not only your family,
I can guarantee.
But can you be free of the idea that your family should know better?
Can you be free of the idea that they should change?
In order for you to be happy and fulfilled.
This is the question,
Not how they behave,
What do they believe,
What do they say,
Whatever.
But can you accept and love them as they are unconditionally?
Or are you still preoccupied with your opinions and ideas about who they should be?
Hmm,
Marie,
Do you see the difference?
Marie is saying,
How find this state of being when severely ill and not able to leave bed since many months and don't know if ever get better?
How to meet this reality and find perfection?
Beautifully asked.
Thank you for this question.
This is a losing game we are in.
We are about to lose and it's inevitable.
What we believe we have will be taken away from us.
It's just a matter of time.
Realize that,
Wake up to that reality.
Your temporary existence here in a body is just a fleeting moment in time versus eternity.
It's a harsh realization,
But you have to walk with this acknowledgement through life.
Don't get too attached to anything,
A relationship,
A statue.
Or even your body.
They will be taken away from you.
Just a matter of time.
And if that is the case,
Why don't you be generous enough to give it?
Give whatever you are holding on as an offering to the divine.
As long as you have a body and there is a breath in that body,
Enjoy life.
But don't get too attached to it.
Don't try to identify yourself through that experience.
You are not the experience or the object of your experience.
Consciousness is there.
You are that.
Consciousness is eternal.
It's not born and it will never die.
In that sense,
You are immortal.
You are eternal.
Now express that in the way you experience life.
Let go of the idea it should have been different.
That you can only be happy in a different reality.
When you are young and beautiful and healthy and you can,
I don't know,
Run the fields.
No,
No,
No.
If you are in bed,
This is your temple now.
Your bed is sacred.
Use it as a temple to express divinity.
And everybody that comes to your bed,
Experience that divinity.
They will keep pilgrim into your bedroom to taste a little bit more of that divine scent that you allow.
What do you say?
Perfection is never anything else but the present moment.
It may meet our expectations or completely contradict them.
Doesn't matter.
Do you see what I'm saying?
AJ,
Is surrender accepting what is without trying to change it?
Including Mia's health issues?
Yeah,
Yeah.
I mean,
Of course,
We are all changing reality all the time.
It's not a matter of changing reality.
You have to understand reality is an expression of everlasting change.
That's the whole idea of evolution.
What is evolution?
It's a constant change,
Development,
Expansion.
Isn't it?
It's inevitable.
The physical realm is changing all the time.
That's the definition of the physical world.
And we are a part of that change.
We are contributing to that change,
Whether we are aware of it or not.
Now ask yourself,
What kind of change are you generating around you?
Is it based on misery,
On anger,
On frustration?
Your disharmony is expressed outside.
That's the change that you contribute.
What kind of change generator do you want to be?
Or are you expressing harmony and love and inner peace and compassion around you?
This is the change that you will create.
Do you see what I'm saying?
Change is happening anyways,
Whether you like it or not,
Aware or not.
Doesn't matter.
You ask yourself,
What kind of contribution to that change do I want to set?
Marie is asking,
What words of wisdom would you suggest for fear of flying,
Claustrophobia?
It's a lot to ask.
There is a whole course about fear versus surrender.
I recommend you take that course.
Find it on my Insight Timer page.
Take that course.
Fear versus surrender.
Understand the nature of fear,
How it affects us,
And more importantly,
How to grow beyond it.
Definitely.
In a nutshell,
Realize that whatever life has to give you,
Pleasant or unpleasant,
It's never beyond your capacity to experience with a whole heart and a willing soul.
That's a law of nature.
Keep reminding yourself that again and again and again.
Whatever life has to throw at you,
You are wise enough to embrace that.
Marie is asking,
Do we have self-will?
As long as we have a separated identity,
A separated self,
A sense of a separated self,
As long as we have that,
There is self-will.
Definitely.
Now,
You can fine-tune that will to promote what is most important to you.
This is why we keep on asking this question.
What is the most important thing for you?
Use that.
This is what I want.
But you have to make sure that you acknowledge what truly is most important to you.
And go for that.
Yes?
What do you say?
Good,
Good,
Good.
So,
Thank you guys for sharing this hour with me,
Growing together one step closer to an awakened consciousness.
Thank you for your time,
Your beautiful questions.
Let's meet again next week to keep on our journey together.
And bring a friend.
You can make a party out of it.
What do you think?
Yes?
Good,
Good,
Good.
Good night,
Good morning,
Wherever you are.
See you.
