Welcome back.

My name is Samantha Linden,

Also known as the Blissful Soul.

This is our series,

Happy Hormones,

A 30-day gut reset for women.

If you haven't started from day one yet,

I highly recommend doing so to maximize your success and understanding.

Imagine abstaining from food and water for some time.

It may seem extreme,

But did you know that this practice,

Known as dry fasting,

Can benefit your body in remarkable ways?

One of these benefits is autophagy.

During autophagy,

Your body recycles damaged proteins and uses them to create new ones.

Think of it as a deep cleaning process for your cells,

Clearing away harmful pathogens and viruses.

Why consider dry fasting when we're constantly told to drink plenty of water?

Just like overwatering a plant can damage it,

Excessive water consumption can also adversely affect our bodies.

Dry fasting mimics our ancestors' conditions when food and water were not always available.

It helps our cells cope with stress and promotes resilience.

Your body enters a special mode that facilitates cellular cleanup when you consume nothing.

It's like taking out the trash for your cells.

Dry fasting eliminates toxins,

Strengthens bodily functions,

And enhances cell health.

Dry fasting also supports mitophagy,

Which targets damaged mitochondria for cleanup.

Healthy mitochondria are essential for energy production and reducing the risk of diseases like cancer.

Incorporating exercise and fasting into your routine can boost mitochondrial health and vitality.

Epigenetics,

How our lifestyle choices influence gene expression,

Also plays a role in dry fasting.

Taking care of your mitochondria and making healthy lifestyle choices prepares your body to thrive in challenging conditions.

Dry fasting can also increase energy levels.

Sometimes,

Feeling tired is a sign that your body needs to eliminate waste.

Fasting allows your body to detoxify and rejuvenate.

While dry fasting can be beneficial,

Listening to your body and starting gradually is essential.

Try skipping water during shorter fasts,

Such as 13 or 15 hours,

And ensure you stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water when you break your fast.

Remember to prioritize your health and take care of yourself.

Drink plenty of water before your fast and resume hydration when you start eating again.

Tomorrow,

We will discuss leptin,

Our hunger hormone,

And how fasting impacts it.
