Welcome to this expecting mother's meditation.
In these first few moments we will work on finding a comfortable seat or maybe if it feels more comfortable you can lie down.
Allow your body to settle and ground exactly where you are.
See if you can lengthen your spine.
Maybe it's rising up or just wiggling your body until you feel like you have a dignified position.
If it feels comfortable to do so close your eyes or gaze at a soft point in front of you.
Once you are physically as comfortable as you can get spend the next few moments connecting with your breath.
No need to change or aim for any kind of breathing.
Just be with your breath as it is.
Observe its natural rhythm.
The in-breath,
The out-breath.
Noticing the simple rise and fall.
The swelling and release of the body as you breathe.
Now let's try to get even more comfortable.
Soften the tension in your face.
See if you can allow your eyelids to feel even heavier.
Unhinge your jaw.
Lower your shoulders down inviting them to relax.
And if it feels right to you place one hand on your belly and one hand on your heart.
Just take a few moments to connect with your baby.
Maybe notice how your heart swells up with love as you think about your baby.
A love perhaps that has always been within you waiting to be expressed.
And as you feel your own heart beating see if you can let your two hands create a connection between your heart and your baby's heart.
Or maybe just imagine a string that ties the two of you together.
If you have any fears in your heart,
Any worries,
As best as you can set them aside.
Simply by choosing to focus on your love for your child.
Again if you feel like your mind might be wandering or the fears might be overwhelming,
Center yourself on your breath with patience and self-compassion as neutral as possible.
And remind yourself that this takes practice and that you are currently practicing right now.
And in your mind,
Or maybe out loud if you're in the space to do so,
Take these next few moments to talk to your baby.
Take these next few moments to talk to your baby.
Tell your baby anything that's on your heart in your mind.
Tell them how happy you are that they are here always with you.
If your hands are still on your body,
Bow your head to your heart acknowledging the wisdom within.
Knowing that you will always shower your baby with unconditional love.
Maybe wrap your arms around your belly.
Give yourself a hug.
And now that we've taken this time to connect with your baby,
I hope that it gives you this new intention to move through your day continuing to come back to this connection between the two of you.
Find moments throughout the day to touch the sense of strength and power that is naturally abiding within you.
If you're faced with fear or anxiety or worry,
Choose instead to bask in the love you feel for your baby,
For the joy of their presence and the excitement of the adventure that lies ahead.
When you are ready,
Come back to the room.
Pull yourself out of that hug or the position that you're in.
Maybe wiggle your toes,
Your fingers,
Gently open up your eyes back to the space.
It can help to pull your shoulders up to your ears and roll them back behind you.
So that way you are putting yourself in a higher and dignified posture to carry through the day knowing that you are going to do everything for this baby and that you have everything within you to be the best mother for your baby.
