Hi and welcome to Calm in the Chaos,
Your cozy corner of the internet,
With me,
Charlie Holbers.
Today I want to talk about anchoring.
When life gets crazy and chaotic,
Having something that anchors us,
That steadies us,
Is vitally important.
It can be significant big things like our family,
Our faith,
Our past,
Things that have shaped us and continue to shape us as people.
Or it can be small and what to others may seem mundane like working out,
Reading,
Cooking,
Writing,
Journaling,
Things that fill us up and bring us joy.
So why do we need anchors in our working life?
Without an anchor we are mere ships floating on an unknown ocean in a literal and figurative sense.
These anchors form the basis of who we are.
You would be surprised how having things that anchor us in the physical are the vital core requisites to our mental wellness,
Which in essence forms our ability to propel ourselves forward,
To feed our ambition,
To move towards our goals,
To shape the way we work and connect with others,
Facets that are vital in ensuring we're working with our clients to offer them the best part of us.
No one wants to work with anyone who is frazzled,
Flustered,
Harried,
Stressed or disorganized.
We owe it to ourselves and to our clients to show up mentally ready,
Ready to do the work.
So today as you move forward,
Remember the word anchor and ask yourselves,
How do you feel when you hear that word?
What does that word resonate in you?
How can you utilize anchoring in your day to day to ensure you have stability?
When life gets chaotic,
Lean into your anchor to tether you to a place where you can find calm in the chaos.
To celebrate the launch of Calm in the Chaos on VO Radio,
I'm giving away a basket of blissful goodies.
Keep an eye on the winner's circle for your chance to win those.
And now,
Your mindful moment.
Sit comfortably somewhere safe and secure and close your eyes.
Open your soul to the sounds that are around you.
Notice how they fall on you without any effort.
Breathe deeply,
Focus on the sounds and find yourself feeling grounded and calm.
Continue to listen to these sounds for two minutes,
Breathing in and out.
What sounds can you hear?
How do they make you feel?
As you move through your day,
Let the things you hear draw you back to where you need to be.
Let them ground you in the moment where you stand or you sit.
Thank you for listening.
