I know how hard being a SEN Mum can be so I've created a short 7-minute meditation to help you take some time just for you. Focus on your breathing, focus on yourself, take some time out, and remember that you're important too.

Welcome,

Dear mother,

To this moment of peace and calm,

Just for you.

As this meditation is designed to relax both your body and your mind,

Please do not listen whilst driving,

Operating any kind of machinery or in any situation where you need to be both awake and lit.

Now it's time to get comfortable.

Take a seat in your favourite chair,

Sit on the floor,

Lie down on your bed,

Wherever you can get comfortable and cosy for our time together.

I invite you now to take a deep breath in through your nose,

Hold for a second and then slowly exhale through your mouth.

And again inhale through your nose,

Hold for a second and slowly exhale through your mouth.

Continue this deep breathing by yourself now.

With each breath,

Feel the tension leaving your body.

Feel yourself becoming more present in this moment,

Releasing the burdens of the past and the uncertainties of the future.

As a mother of a special needs child,

Your days may be filled with challenges and responsibilities that demand your unwavering strength and love,

But in this moment you have permission to let go of those demands and simply be yourself.

Visualise a warm gentle light surrounding you,

Embracing you.

This light is a reflection of the infinite love and compassion that resides within you,

The source of endless strength and resilience.

As you continue to breathe deeply,

Allow this light to expand,

Filling every corner of your being with a sense of peace and serenity.

Feel its warmth soothing your weary soul,

Nourishing you from within.

In this space of stillness,

Allow yourself to acknowledge any emotions that may arise,

Whether it be joy,

Sadness or exhaustion.

There is no need to judge or suppress these feelings,

Simply observe them with an open heart.

Continuing your deep breathing now,

With each breath you feel yourself becoming more grounded and centred.

Rooted in the present moment like a sturdy oak tree,

Swaying gently in the breeze,

Know that you are supported,

Cherished and deeply loved,

Just as you are.

As we near the end of this short meditation together,

Take a moment to express gratitude for yourself,

For the courage,

Resilience and boundless love that you embody each and every day.

Remember that you are a beacon of light in the lives of those around you and your presence is a gift to the world.

Know that you can return to this space of peace and tranquility whenever you need,

Simply by closing your eyes,

Taking a deep breath and imagining,

Visualising,

Feeling that warm light all around you.

You are a warrior of love and you are never alone.

When you are ready,

Gently begin to wiggle your fingers,

Wiggle your toes as you bring sensation and awareness back to your body.

You can carry this sense of peace and serenity with you as you continue on your journey as a mother,

Knowing that you are deeply loved and supported every step of the way.

When you are ready,

Open your eyes,

Place one hand over your heart and thank yourself for taking this time just for you.
