Take a deep breath,

Exhale fully,

And let go.

Imagine yourself lying upon the ground with your head to the north and your feet to the south,

Arms stretched wide open east and west.

In your mind's eye,

Imagine a golden circle encircling you as you lie in the center of the great wheel of life.

In the east is the rising sun,

A place of new beginnings.

Each day,

Another chance to begin again.

In the south,

The place of passion,

Working for our dreams,

Actively bringing the energies from the air in the east to the fire in the south.

Playfulness as well as work,

Lessons learned.

Moving to the west,

We acknowledge that this is a place of letting go,

Dissolving in the waters,

Climbing into the bare cave of our hearts and deepest longings,

And looking into the shadows,

That which may be difficult to see,

And to know that all things must end just as the cycles and the seasons change throughout the year,

Throughout all our years.

Moving to the north,

The place of coming home to the ancestors,

To the wise ones,

Becoming wise ones ourselves.

We offer gratitude for everything,

The light and the dark,

And everything in between.

We call out to the great above,

Help us,

All things that love us,

All things above us,

Those who can see the bigger stories,

Those who've held us throughout eternity of time and space.

Great star nations,

The entire cosmos,

Swirling throughout all the multiverses and beyond.

We call to the great below.

We call not only to the elements of air,

Fire,

Water,

And earth,

But to all that's in the great below,

All the creatures,

Two-legged,

Four,

Standing people of the trees,

The Apu spirits in the great mountains and forest,

All creatures,

Great and small,

Beneath the sea or in the air,

Desert plains,

And rainforest.

And then we come to the within,

Within,

Great within,

That spark of life,

That field of plenty,

Where all imagination is birthed and creates our outer world and reality,

Or realities.

And from this place,

We call our hearts truth of love,

Wisdom,

And consciousness,

And we let the wheel turn and turn and turn on the spiral path of transformation.

Deep breath.

Exhale fully.

The world is in turmoil.

Our hearts are in turmoil.

Our minds become confused.

Great changes are happening upon our earth and in our hearts,

In our lives.

All creatures,

All beings are affected in this great shift that we've been waiting for.

Did we think it would simply be easy?

There's times of grace and ease.

There's times of flying high,

And there's times of diving deep,

And there's times of burning,

Dissolving.

Strong winds and earth shaking.

The earth cracks open.

The hurricanes blow.

Tsunamis roll across the land.

In these times,

We hold on tight until it's time to let go.

We take a deep breath,

And we surrender.

Surrender,

My dear friends,

Brothers,

And sisters,

Is not only an act of letting go.

It's surrendering also to taking whatever steps we must take to change.

To choose carefully what we release and what we hold on to.

To decide as if in a great fire what we must pack up quickly,

If anything,

To take with us to where we're going.

Honoring all that we're leaving behind.

Opening to our future.

And do we need help?

Yes.

There's nothing shameful or wrong about needing help and support,

And about wanting to help and support others.

And other beings and creatures.

Today we're going to call upon the medicine animals.

We're going to call upon the power animals that are here to guide us.

The creature teachers that surround us when we have the eyes to see and the ears to hear.

Perhaps it's the whale calling out its song beneath the ocean,

Asking us all to become whale riders.

To lead our people.

To lead our lives fully.

Perhaps the palliated woodpecker of the Cherokee spirit calling out its call,

La-la-la-la-la-la,

Asking us to wake up,

To pay attention.

The battle cry.

The celebratory cry.

To stand for truth.

For what you believe and know in your heart is true.

Or perhaps it's Cayee the hawk calling and saying to us,

Look high.

See the big story here.

There's more to be revealed from on high.

Or the dragonfly,

Flying first forward and then backwards,

Then up and then down.

Eating in midair,

Making love in midair.

It waited a long time to emerge from water,

To climb onto shore,

And to fly.

Morphing a myriad of times before its final form as the dragon who can fly.

Teaching us flexibility,

Versatility,

Stealth.

Changeability.

Keeper of the mysteries.

Perhaps it's the wolf howling out,

Howl.

Calling us onto our path,

Calling us to our vision.

Helping us to find our pack.

To learn to live in community with one another.

To be loyal.

And to look to the moon and the stars at night to guide us when we can no longer see.

So many creatures,

Weaving their webs,

Creating honey.

Flying in the trees,

Hopping upon the earth.

Crawling into holes and out again.

Growling,

Howling,

Screeching,

Roaring.

Tweeting.

So many.

Who do we choose to be our power animal?

Who chooses us?

Take a moment to breathe into your heart.

And lying in this beautiful wheel,

Imagine that there are many animals,

Many creature teachers all around you.

They all have something to say to all of us.

But at this specific time on the planet,

This moment in your life,

There are nine who step forward.

Maybe some crawl forward,

Some fly forward,

Some leap,

Jump,

Or run forward,

Swim forward.

But they come to you.

And they begin to sit in your circle.

Begin,

If you will,

In the east.

And just let what comes to mind or to heart to show up in the east.

In the place of the rising sun.

Nod to that creature,

Accepting them and whatever medicine they're bringing to you.

And now in your consciousness,

Move to your feet,

Move to the south.

And again,

Envision the one who's sitting there patiently smiling or energetically sending you love and support for manifesting your dreams and following your passions,

For learning your lessons and teaching you also to play as well as work.

Again,

Nodding.

Let these come very quickly.

Don't overthink it.

Don't even know why.

Just let them show up as you move to the west,

As you move to the place of what would help you at this time to let go of that which no longer serves you on your path.

Again,

Nodding.

Acknowledging.

And bring your awareness to the top of your head,

To the north.

The place of honoring,

Gratitude,

Abundance,

Of appreciating all those who've come before,

All the lessons.

Who could help you become a worthy ancestor spirit someday and help you to receive your abundance and become a wisdom keeper yourself.

Just gently feel that creature at the top of your head,

Making its presence known and nod again in gratitude.

And then bring your awareness to the great above,

To the great star nations,

To the cosmic influences.

And acknowledge that which is above.

What animal or creature is above you?

And again,

It could even be a bear that's above you.

It doesn't matter.

But which one wants to come to help you reach out to the stars to the cosmos?

Acknowledge what shows up.

And then going down to the great below,

The guardian of the earth and the underworld experiences.

Who could help ground you and send your grounding cord into the earth and help make sense of everything in this domain?

Again,

Bowing in gratitude.

Come back,

If you will,

To your heart and your solar plexus and your throat area.

Those three chakras,

The place of power,

The place of love,

The place of your authentic expression.

And feel the great within.

The creature that shows up in your heart is the guardian of your heart's desire,

Of your imagination,

Of your field of plenty,

And what you most are longing to bring forth at this time.

See what shows up in that place.

You might place your hand on your heart,

Take a deep breath,

Exhale fully,

And see who holds your heart's desire,

Your great within,

Connected to the heart of the great mystery,

To the consciousness of the great one.

Great spirit.

Breathe into that.

And walking now on your left side and then your right side is your receptive energy,

And on your right side is your action energy,

Your yin or your yang,

Or some would say your feminine or your masculine,

But these are the energies that help you with all the other creatures to help you know when to take an outward action or when it's a receptive space that needs to be held.

And imagine first over to the left the creature that has come up and is sitting on your left side within your hand's reach that you can reach out and touch.

And welcome the part of you,

This guardian,

That will guard your innermost longing and receptivity,

That draws things to you and also helps you to be deeply prayerful and meditative.

And silent when you need to be.

And then imagine on your right and see the creature that you reach out and touch that's there as your masculine or your action-oriented energy that can project itself thoughtfully into the world.

And feel that creature ready to take action at a moment's notice when needed with great stealth and skill and thoughtfulness.

We thank all of these creatures,

All of these amazing creature teachers,

Shamanic energies that have come to join us today,

Power animals that can help support us on our path.

We honor you,

We thank you in the days and weeks and months,

Perhaps years to come.

We are grateful that you will walk,

Fly,

Crawl,

Run,

Swim by our sides.

We humbly acknowledge our elder brothers and sisters,

The creature teachers,

And welcome them with an open mind,

An open heart,

And a grateful spirit.

Aho Matakwease.

We are all related.
