You know how the saying goes… people are either here for a season, a reason or a lifetime and sometimes it takes a little time and experience to discover how the people in our lives serve us. Nevertheless, when you wake up and realize you and your best friend since 1st grade have become strangers... it hurts and you may experience the grief that nobody talks about that comes with friendship breakups. I hope that this meditation assists you on your journey of healing and remembering that you are worthy of connection even in seasons of feeling lonely.

Greetings friends,

My name is Akili Yasmine and I invite you to join me in a seven-minute guided meditation for healing from friendship breakups,

Also known as grief.

We all know the saying that there's a season for everything but when seasons of friendships end sooner than ever expected it can be devastating and the onset of grief can feel overwhelming.

Trauma is trauma and our bodies don't know the difference between losing someone in a physical sense or an emotional one.

The trauma is stored in our bodies the same.

Join me as we take steps towards acknowledging our grief,

Accepting our grief,

Feeling our grief,

Navigating through our grief,

And letting it go.

I invite you to close your eyes or keep them at a soft gaze as you find a comfortable position,

Relaxing the tension in your eyebrows,

Releasing the clenching in your jaw,

And allowing for your shoulders to drop away from your ears.

Take a deep breath in and inhale as your inner voice counts to three and on your exhale allow for your breath to let every inch of your body know that it can be at ease.

Inviting yourself to a space of acknowledgement and release as you repeat the following affirmations to yourself quietly.

As I embrace my grief I will remind myself that I'm worthy of love and connection.

As I embrace my grief I will remind myself that I am worthy of love and connection.

Feeling all of my emotions deeply is evidence of my vitality and my humanity.

I am made in the likeness of God and my desire for connections is natural and innate.

I am grateful to experience others even after their purpose in my life is complete.

I'm grateful to experience others even after their purpose in my life is complete.

I let go of things,

People,

And thoughts that are no longer serving me so that I can make room for what will.

I let go of things,

People,

And thoughts that are no longer serving me so that I can make room for what will.

As you repeat these affirmations to yourself continue to invite in even more acceptance and self-love.

Feel yourself letting go and making room for healing thoughts and stillness.

As you repeat these gentle affirmations to yourself continue to invite in more acceptance and self-love.

Feel yourself letting go and making room for healing thoughts and inner stillness.

Giving recognition to the grief and to every good feeling that harmoniously exists within you.

Take another deep breath in here.

Inhaling and feeling the expansion of your belly as you breathe in.

Inhaling and feeling the full release of your breath as you exhale.

Carry this light energy with you as you begin to become more aware of your body.

Again breathing in deeply for a gentle count of three and exhaling as you begin to flutter your eyes open.

I encourage you to take a moment to sit with your emotions,

Your thoughts,

And your physical sensations.

Take a moment to journal those gentle downloads from God and to observe yourself.

Thank yourself for the release you just gifted yourself.

And in the words of the writer and author Alex L.

You will rest and you will wilt but you will bloom again.

This was so beautiful & calming! Thank you for doing a meditation on this topic! There’s way more support around romantic breakups out there, but friendship grief is not something I see people talking about very much. I love this track and would love to see more! 🙏🏽🌱
