Hello and welcome!

In this course we're going to start learning all about the different chakras and how to balance them in the quickest and easiest way.

But before we get into that,

What is a chakra?

Well a chakra is an energy center of the body.

There are seven of them and they're from the yoga tradition.

The term chakra itself is a sanscript word meaning wheel or disc and these seven energy centers each have a key role of how you interact with the world physically,

Mentally and spiritually.

In this section we're going to go through the root chakra in depth,

Understanding what the meaning of it is,

What aspects of your life this energy center can control and what your life can look like if this center is out of balance.

When your chakras are balanced it means that the energy is flowing from one to the other freely.

You are not getting too obsessed or too withdrawn from specific topics.

An overactive chakra can mean that you dive very deep into an area of your life and an underactive chakra can mean that you're can be avoidant or have deficiencies in a specific area mentally,

Physically,

Spiritually.

Let's start to look at the root chakra.

So the root chakra or the maladhara is our first chakra.

It is located at the very base of your spine and it is associated with the color red.

As it is the first of our chakras it is responsible for our sense of security,

Our survival instincts and everything in our base foundation whether that is our home,

Our money,

Our very sense of being as well as our physical movement.

So it's a very foundational element and working with the root chakra first is the best way to start because otherwise you're building a house on a shaky foundation.

Even if everything else is perfect if the foundation isn't set right there are going to be issues.

There are some physical things that you can look at that aren't necessarily the spiritual aspect that are also going to help your root chakra.

This can involve going through your finances,

Setting budgets,

Cleaning out space in your home as well as ensuring that you have a safe environment around you.

When the root chakra is out of balance it can lead to a whole heap of issues including feelings of insecurity and fear and also feeling really ungrounded.

The parts of the body that are involved with the root chakra are everything from your hips downwards so your legs,

Your feet,

Your thighs,

Your knees as well as your hips themselves.

And as the chakras are related to our physical and mental body working on this chakra can actually help release some pain or discomfort and increase the speed of healing for issues in these areas.

If we look at what an excessive root chakra looks like it could be hoarding wealth,

Feeling quite greedy and someone not likely to share their resources even if they do have an abundance of them.

It can go to the extreme of hoarding because people with an excessive root chakra have a mindset that they won't always be provided for,

That they won't that they won't always have what they need.

Then looking at a deficient root chakra we look at concepts of financial instability,

Housing instability and with this there are so many systematic problems in our world which lead people to have a deficient root chakra.

This is generational trauma being passed down as well as looking at the belief system that comes with being oppressed by people for so long.

Working on the root chakra whilst it will not change everything overnight it is going to create a strong stability and foundation to be able to assess the beliefs around what you are worthy of which comes later in the solar plexus where we work on our confidence and also what are the base human rights that we all have and how to fully welcome them in.

How to feel safe with maybe more or less than what you have before.

Coming back into that balance of not needing excessive control and not having no control.

It's finding the balance between greed and satisfaction in a way that's not only serving you but serving a greater society as well.

I recommend you do the root chakra practice now.

Learn the mudra,

Learn the chanting and just notice how your body is feeling during this practice.
