Welcome to Ipek and Tara's Threads of Light,
A talk series that illuminates the path to a brighter and more meaningful life.
Join us as we set sail on a journey of self-discovery,
Transformation,
And shared wisdom.
Welcome to another enlightening episode of Threads of Light.
Today we are diving into a topic that touches the very core of who we are,
Connecting with our inner voice to discover our true self.
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said,
To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.
This quote resonates deeply as we explore how our inner voice,
The authentic part of ourselves,
Guides us through life's many influences and pressures.
In a world that often pushes us to conform or be something we're not,
Tuning into our inner voice can be one of the most significant achievements of our lives.
As we navigate the expectations and roles that society imposes on us,
It can be challenging to stay true to our authentic selves.
The journey to discovering who we truly are begins with listening inwardly,
In my opinion,
And also separating our true desires and values from external expectations.
By doing so,
I think we align ourselves with our deepest truths and aspirations,
Which can lead to greater fulfillment and clarity in our lives.
Tara,
In what ways have you found that your inner voice has helped you stay true to yourself despite external pressures?
How can we better connect with that inner voice to navigate the complexities of our modern world?
Thank you,
Ipek.
Certainly some really interesting questions and deep ideas.
I like the word that you used about tuning in,
And I think that that's an important word or way to approach this is really it's about tuning in and being aware.
I really think that we create our life experiences based on tuning into the voices that emerge or the knowing thoughts.
This really begins,
In my opinion,
When we enter into adulthood after having certain types of experiences.
I'm saying that because I consider the development that occurs before adulthood as being really more primitive and driven by the varying instinct that we have as children or adolescents.
We hone that or tune in perhaps later in life after having had additional experiences.
It may be interesting to think about this in the context of human development and the stages or cycles we go through.
You might be thinking there are circumstances that occur out of our control or influence at different stages,
Especially after infancy.
We can have different things occur that we may not have control over,
But what we can think about is how do we respond to these circumstances or complexities that come into our lives.
I'm curiously exploring further how my own intuition plays a role in my choices and decision-making.
What is the brain of a child to be considered in different terms as we continue to talk about this,
Focusing more on the adulthood awareness?
So personally,
I'm examining impulse versus choice based on values or inner knowing.
As I reflect on this topic,
I'm aware that when I'm excited about something,
I want to act quickly in the moment.
And then in hindsight,
I realize that more time is needed to pause and reflect on what about that idea or opportunity is drawing me since it may not be what appears on the surface.
So as we think about choices and decision-making,
Paying attention and not making a conscious choice when you're being impulsive is something to consider.
So after I've made a decision that I think was ultimately too impulsive,
I know this that my body actually has a response,
Whether it be physical,
Stomach issues or anxiety or anxiousness,
It starts emerging.
And now I know that that's actually my inner knowing and tuning into that inner knowing.
It's the true self messaging me about the right course of action for myself.
And again,
These are cases where I might have been impulsive and acted very quickly because I was excited.
But then afterwards,
I'm getting messaging from my inner knowing and my true self.
So taking time to reflect more before making a choice is something I'm doing,
And it ends up feeling better,
You know,
After sitting with something.
And I don't have this other bodily or emotional response,
I know that it was the right thing or I'm in the right direction.
And while hindsight is 20-20,
I think that there's a lot to be understood about foresight.
There is a quote that I would like to share,
And it sets the tone.
It says,
Intuition will tell the thinking mind where to look next.
And this is by Jonas Salk.
He actually was the inventor of the polio vaccine.
And so hindsight is 20-20.
But we can evolve our foresight,
As I said before,
By leaning into our known values and making choices.
Now while working with clients,
I'm using intuitive intelligence more and more to guide my questions and advice.
Having a deeper presence and listening shapes my dialogue with them and the offerings that I select or choose.
And my values of trust,
Learning,
And curiosity play an important role in my life experiences.
And I always look for something to learn from an experience,
No matter how complex.
And curious reflection helps me get to the root of the matter for myself or others that I might be guiding.
And so trusting our inner knowing can emerge over time as we become more self-aware in adulthood.
Knowing our core values is a guide for our thoughts and actions that lead us really to amazing discoveries.
So another quote that I think relates to our choices is,
Every thought is a seed in the garden of your mind.
Positive thoughts mean that you are planting positive possibilities.
And this is by Kate Spencer,
Author.
Our true self is expressed in our thoughts and actions.
So many factors shape our lives and choices or pursuits.
And with that in mind,
Let's talk about how and when our inner voice chimes for us.
Let's ask ourselves how or when does my true self show up?
And consider whether it's showing up before,
During,
Or after choices.
Ipek,
I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.
That's a great question to ask,
Tara.
Thank you for sharing those beautiful quotes and this beautiful question and for your insightful share.
You know,
Our inner voice is a powerful guide in our journey toward understanding ourselves.
And it's really very important to recognize that this inner wisdom is not just about hearing,
But also about truly listening and understanding the messages it conveys.
And our inner voice often emerges from a place of deep self-awareness and can be influenced by our core values,
Life experiences,
And moments of reflection,
As you also mentioned and shared.
So listening to our inner voice requires us to be present and attentive,
Allowing ourselves to tune into the subtle cues and feelings that arise within us.
And it's about creating space for introspection and being open to the guidance that comes from our true self.
By understanding and embracing this inner guidance,
We can make choices that are more aligned with our authentic selves and lead us toward a life of greater fulfillment and purpose.
So,
As we explore this topic,
It's essential to remember that connecting with our inner voice is a continuous process and it involves ongoing self-reflection and the willingness to adjust our course based on the insights we gain.
This process can help us navigate life's challenges with greater clarity and align our actions with our core values,
Leading us to be a more authentic and meaningful existence.
So reflecting on our inner voice and its role in guiding us can be both enlightening and challenging.
For me,
The inner voice is that quiet but persistent whisper that reveals my deepest truths,
Often drowned out by the noise of everyday life.
Growing up,
I faced numerous experiences that tested my values and beliefs.
And these experiences,
While challenging,
Became really pivotal in shaping my inner voice and the direction of my life.
And as I look back,
I see how my values and inner guidance evolved through these trials,
Providing me with the strength to navigate through complex situations.
So I invite everyone who's listening to this to consider,
How does your inner voice communicate with you?
What core values are you discovering through your experiences?
And how are they guiding your actions and decisions?
Reflecting on these questions,
In addition to the one Tara shared and asked,
Can offer valuable insights into the path you are on and help you connect more deeply with your true self.
And with that,
I'm giving the mic back to you,
Tara,
For you to take us home.
Thank you,
Ipek.
That is an amazing way of interpreting or suggesting how we get in touch or in tune with our inner voice,
Which is a true self-sharing the knowledge really that resides within us.
And we can learn to recognize it and trust the guidance.
An affirmation that I will leave you with is that intuition will tell you where to go.
Thank you for listening.
We hope you found this episode insightful.
If so,
Please share it with others.
Until we reunite under the cosmic embrace of our next episode,
May your days be filled with the brilliance of your unique light.
Take each step with purpose and let the threads of light guide you.
