Can you let yourself be held in this place you did not want to call home?

In the embrace of unbearable longing?

In the unwanted solitude or loving of an imperfect lover?

Can you let yourself be held in the unwept tears of abandonment and silent resentment of secrets and betrayal?

Can you let your heart take the shape of the life you didn't know you had made and fill up the spaces carved into you by disappointment and broken promises?

Can you let your mind lost in scattered certainties be summoned home by doubt and faith?

Can you fall as hastily into now as you do into infatuation with the past and fear of the future?

Can you let yourself be held when every fiber screams to push life away like the opposite of being born?

Can you let yourself be held,

My love,

In the undeserved grief and grace?

Can you let yourself fall?
