Welcome to today's breathwork session.

Today we will be doing the ocean breath.

This breathwork session was inspired by the rhythm and the cleansing power of the sea.

Today we will be breathing into flow,

Release,

And renewal.

The technique for today's breathwork session is the ujjayi breath.

In this technique there is a gentle constriction of the throat creating the sound of ocean waves.

So before we get started go ahead and get comfortably seated or lie down.

Allow your eyes to close or soften your gaze.

Take a few easy breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth.

Feel your body begin to settle.

With your next inhale,

Send the attention to connect with the rhythm of the ocean.

Steady,

Cleansing,

And alive.

Imagine the sound of the waves moving in and out.

Your breath will soon become the ocean.

Now begin to breathe only through your nose.

Slightly constrict the back of your throat as if you're whispering the sound but with your mouth closed.

You'll hear a gentle sound like ocean waves rolling along the shore.

Let this sound anchor your attention.

I'll give a quick example of what the exhale will sound like.

We'll go ahead and complete our first inhale.

Inhale,

Slow,

Steady,

Smooth.

Exhale,

Soft,

Controlled,

Continuous.

Feel the waves of the breath moving through you.

In,

Out,

In,

Out,

Constant,

And alive.

Now that you've got a sense for this technique,

Let your breath take on a steady rhythm.

Inhale for a count of four.

Exhale for a count of six.

Inhale,

Two,

Three,

Four.

Exhale,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five,

Six.

Repeat this cycle about four more times on your own,

Counting in a moment.

Notice the sound,

The ocean in your throat.

Each breath washes through you,

Clearing away what no longer serves.

Feel the waves of breath rising and falling like the tide,

Gentle and eternal.

Continuing with this breath,

With each inhale,

Imagine drawing in fresh,

Clean,

Ocean air,

Pure energy.

With each exhale,

Release tension,

Heaviness,

And old emotions,

Letting them dissolve into the sea.

Your breath becomes a tide of renewal.

Inhale,

Cleanse,

Exhale,

Release,

Each time coming back to the rhythm of the ocean.

Stay with the rhythm.

Let the sound soothe you,

The motion of your breathing becoming the ocean itself.

Now feel the breath expanding beyond the body.

With each inhale,

The wave flows higher,

Filling your chest,

Your ribs,

Your belly.

With each exhale,

The wave rolls back,

Softening everything it touches.

Your body is floating effortlessly,

Supported by the sea.

There's nothing to hold,

Nothing to resist,

Only the sound,

The rhythm,

The flow.

You are breathing with the ocean.

You are the ocean.

Begin to soften the sound of your breath,

Keeping it smooth and full,

But more delicate.

Let the waves become smaller,

Gentler,

Ripples on a calm sea.

Inhale,

Peace,

Exhale,

Ease,

Inhale,

Softness,

Exhale,

Surrender.

Allow your breath to find its natural rhythm again,

Effortless,

Calm,

Spacious.

Feel the stillness that follows the tide,

Quiet,

Open,

Fast.

The ocean of your breath has washed you clean,

Leaving only calm presence.

Bring your awareness back to your body,

The weight of your hands,

The rise and fall of your chest.

Take one final deep ocean breath in,

And a long,

Slow exhale out.

Carry the steady rhythm with you,

The ocean within,

Always flowing,

Always here.

When you're ready,

Open your eyes.

Your ocean breath practice is complete.
