Hi friends,

This is Sue,

And welcome to this week's guided Lectio Divina practice,

Rooted in the Gospel of Thomas.

Now,

Remember,

In this practice we are not analyzing the text we hear.

Instead,

We are allowing it to speak to us,

To take root in our hearts,

To see how the divine is moving in us and speaking to us,

That new arisings might emerge in our lives.

So,

Let's begin by settling into a gentle stillness.

Feel the breath that moves through you,

Just grounding you in this moment.

Breathe in deeply,

And exhale fully.

Close your eyes and rest in the quiet.

Just set the stage to allow the mystery of the sacred to open before you.

Trust that you are held in love,

Even as you journey into the unknown.

And in this space of stillness,

Of receptivity,

Of rooted groundedness,

Let us take in today's passage and enter into its wisdom and spirit together.

The Gospel of Thomas,

Logian 2.

If you are seeking,

You must not stop seeking until you find.

When you find,

However,

You will become troubled.

Your confusion will give way to wonder,

And in wonder you will reign over all things.

Your sovereignty will be your rest.

If you are seeking,

You must not stop seeking until you find.

What are you seeking?

What deep hunger draws you into the unknown,

Beyond what you've been told?

The seeking itself is holy.

Let the words wash over you,

Not as answers,

But as a sacred invitation to journey.

Feel the pull of that longing within.

Let these words wash over you like a promise,

Gently reminding you to keep moving,

To keep longing,

And to keep opening.

If you are seeking,

You must not stop seeking until you find.

Just sit with the word or the message that rises up in you from this line.

Just sit with it and let it be a companion in your heart.

When you find,

However,

You will become troubled.

To find is to become undone.

The veils are lifted,

And what was once certain fades into mystery.

So becoming troubled is sacred.

It is the undoing of all illusions,

The shaking of foundations.

Finding shakes loose comfortable ground beneath us,

Inviting us to deeper layers of truth.

What is troubling you as you seek and find?

Allow this trouble to be your guide,

Showing you where the false certainties must crumble.

In this sacred confusion,

Where is the divine unsettling you?

Where are you being asked to let go,

To be troubled,

To be remade?

When you find,

However,

You will become troubled.

Allow yourself to dwell in the tension.

Let the sacred trouble rise without needing to resolve it.

Your confusion will give way to wonder.

In this confusion,

Wonder breaks through the troubling like light piercing the clouds,

Not as an answer but as a revelation,

As an opening of your heart to awe,

A space of grace,

A threshold into something larger than yourself.

Where do you feel the stirrings of wonder within you now?

Let the wonder wash over you as though you are standing on the edge of the infinite.

Your confusion will give way to wonder.

Let your wonder rise up as a prayer,

As a song of gratitude for the beauty you can now see.

In wonder you will reign over all things.

Your sovereignty will be your rest.

To reign over all things is not an act of power or control,

But of surrender.

This sovereignty is a deep,

Quiet knowing that all things are held together in love.

It is in wonder,

Not in striving,

That you find your rest.

In this space,

You no longer need to grasp or struggle.

Your rest is in being,

In knowing that you are part of the all,

And the all is part of you.

In wonder,

You will reign over all things.

Your sovereignty will be your rest.

Rest here in your sovereignty.

In the quiet,

Let your heart settle into the fullness of wonder,

Into the wholeness of this sacred rest.

If you are seeking,

You must not stop seeking until you find.

When you find,

However,

You will become troubled.

Your confusion will give way to wonder.

In wonder,

You will reign over all things.

Your sovereignty will be your rest.

And so,

Indwelling divine,

Guide our seeking and meet us in our confusion.

May our troubled hearts give way to wonder.

In that wonder,

May we find the true rest of knowing we are already whole,

Already part of your infinite love.

Amen.
