Welcome to Rest Revolution Life,
Empowering guilt-free rest.
My name is Destiny and this is a Yoga Nidra rest ceremony.
Please take a few minutes to find a cozy place to settle into.
You could lie down on the earth or in your bed or even on a couch.
Please use as many pillows and props so that your body can become comfortable and feel held and nourished for today's rest ceremony.
This ceremony is a time to go inward,
To witness the internal rearrangements of your inner wilderness.
This particular ceremony is a time to rest and witness the magic within,
The magic of healing that can happen effortlessly.
You deserve rest,
So take another moment here.
Make any last-minute adjustments so you can get just a little bit more cozy and warm.
You might cover your eyes to block out the light.
Take a moment just to ask yourself if there's any last-minute movements or fidgets you can get out of the way so you can drop in to comfort a little deeper.
I'd like to honor the beginning of our rest ceremony by calling in the directions,
Powers of the East,
Sacred ones of the East,
Inviting your energy to be present in this rest ceremony.
Place of fire,
Of the snake.
We ask that you help to keep us warm and held so that we could witness the unlayering effects of our own body and skin,
So that we can learn to use rest as a place of rebirth and renewal.
Thank you,
Fire.
Powers of the South,
Sacred Earth,
Mountain lion or puma.
We ask that you allow our bodies to lay upon you,
To witness your power and your grace,
To ground and to feel supported.
Mountain lion,
That we may rest upon your back.
Thank you,
Earth.
Powers of the West,
The waters,
Turtle and dolphin.
May we flow through the layers within as if we were floating down a river in memory of ourselves and in memory of what's sacred.
May we use the water to feel purified and cleansed as we rest today.
Thank you,
Water.
Powers of the North,
Sacred ones of the North,
Air,
Breath,
And the great white owl.
We invite your presence of open wings,
Soft feathers embracing our souls,
Allowing us to feel safe and protected by the winged ones and by our own breath.
May the winds of the North blow through us in this rest ceremony,
Helping change.
Thank you,
North.
Here we lie present with all four directions,
Holding space as we go in deeper.
Could you allow the whole weight of your body to rest into the support beneath your body?
Letting your bones connect to the soil,
Surrendering to gravity,
Softening the grip that you may have inside,
Softening the jaw and all the little micro-muscles around the brain.
Let's take a deep inhale through the nose and let it out through the mouth.
And now we'll take two sips of air through the nose and a long exhale through the mouth.
Two sips in through the nose,
Long exhale out through the mouth.
Do that three more times.
As we enter into ceremony,
Let's call in an intention or a sankalpa,
A heart's desire to rest today.
What rearrangements internally call to you?
What internal changes is spirit asking for today?
Use your breath to call in the powers of your sankalpa.
Invite them to be held by the four directions.
And now we'll begin to rotate our mindfulness through our body,
Stretching our awareness through our body to help unravel the outer layer.
Please bring your awareness to the point between the eyebrows.
Feel the forehead softening,
All the fluid that houses the brain,
Soft,
Flexible.
The left eyebrow,
Left eye,
Left temple,
Right eyebrow,
Right eye,
Right temple.
Sense both eyes at the same time.
The healing darkness behind closed eyes and all the deep,
Small muscles beneath the eyes resting down toward the earth.
Left ear,
Left ear taking in the sounds,
Right ear,
Right ear listening.
Could you sense both ears at the same time,
Listening,
Both ears listening.
The tip of the nose,
A flow of air moving through both nostrils.
The space between the lips,
Inside the left cheek,
Inside the right cheek,
Roof of the mouth,
Tip of the tongue.
Could you sense the moisture on the tongue?
The top teeth,
Lower teeth,
The chin.
Could you sense the shape and the weight of your entire head resting down into your pillow?
The brain stem,
Base of the skull and the brain stem held and supported.
The sides of the neck,
A flow of air moving inside the throat,
A radiant heart like the internal drum within,
Beating so quiet,
Sensing the heartbeat.
Left shoulder,
Left elbow,
Wrist,
Palm of the hand,
Top of the hand,
Left hand thumb,
Pointer finger,
Middle,
Ring,
Pinky.
Sense all five fingers on the left hand and the gentle touch of air on the left fingertips.
Notice where gravity wants your left fingers to fall.
The weight of your left hand and your left arm heavy.
Sacred heart,
Right shoulder,
Elbow,
Wrist,
Palm of the right hand,
Top of the hand,
Right hand thumb,
Pointer,
Middle,
Ring,
Pinky.
Sense all five fingers on the right hand and the gentle touch of air on the fingertips.
Notice where gravity wants your right hand to fall and the whole right hand and right arm heavy.
Both arms and hands sinking down,
Nothing to hold,
Weightless.
Sense the sides of the ribs,
The lungs like the wings of your body spreading as you breathe.
The soft low belly rising and falling,
Sides of the waist,
Pubic bone,
Left hip,
Left knee,
Ankle,
Heel,
Top of the foot,
Sole of the foot,
All five toes.
Notice where gravity wants your left foot to fall and the whole left foot and left leg heavy.
The right hip,
Right knee,
Ankle,
Heel,
Top of the right foot,
Sole of the foot,
All five toes.
Feeling where gravity wants your right foot to fall and the whole weight of the right foot and right leg heavy.
Both legs and both feet resting down,
Holding nothing.
Sense the entire spine in contact with the earth.
Could you sense the front of your body from the toes to the head and the back side of your body from the head to the heels?
Inhale up the back side body from your heels to the head.
Exhale down the front body from the head to the toes.
Inhale up front body.
Exhale down the back body.
Inhale up the back.
Exhale down the front.
Moving up the front as you inhale.
Feeling the energy of the exhale moving down the back.
Just like that.
Now feel and enter a new place of stillness.
Witnessing the energetic force or the essence of spirit moving through you as you breathe quietly.
No effort on your part,
Just to witness.
The movement of spirit and prana as the lungs expand.
Great white owl is present as you breathe.
Lungs expanding.
Contracting.
Low belly rises and falls like the swell of the ocean.
Belly and water rises and falls.
Rises and falls.
Could you feel the entire weight of your body heavy?
Like a weighted blanket offering itself to the planet.
Heavy.
And then begin to feel the body get light and rising up.
Like dandelion seeds floating in the wind.
Light.
Floating.
And then heavy again.
Whole body moving down toward mother earth.
Down and heavy.
Feeling the weight of gravity.
And then you rise back up.
Becoming lighter like a feather.
Floating up to the great mystery of father sky and the stars and the ancestors.
And could you feel the presence of both earth,
Heavy,
The sky,
And light?
Feeling your existence arriving in between the planes of both.
And here you're held.
And here you're seen and you're whole.
Feel the presence of spirit within you and all around you.
Whole weight of your body is resting.
The bones of your body sinking down toward the earth soil.
Internal streams and rivers within the body flowing.
Like smooth water pathways.
Uniting with the streams and the oceans of mother earth.
The voice of your nervous system.
And joining with the internal root systems and communications of what's beneath the earth surface.
As if your whole body could dissolve into the earth to be rearranged and restructured by her grace and by her strength.
As the earth holds you,
Could you sense into her beauty?
Majestic mountains.
Sacred rivers and meadows.
The fire and strength at her center.
Abundant trees and rainforests.
Sense her resilience and her radiance lie upon you like a comforting blanket.
And within her arms,
Could you sink down a little deeper and enjoy her warm embrace?
Sink down a little deeper and enjoy the earth's warm embrace within the silence.
Quiet mind.
Open heart.
Quiet mind.
Open heart.
In this quiet place,
Please invite the power of your sankalpa to enter.
To stretch in all four directions.
Feel the presence of your intention right here,
Already in full motion.
Buzzing up your cells.
Empowering spirit.
Please begin to bring your awareness to the very edges of your body.
To feeling the skin and your body resting.
Start to breathe deeply.
Let's close our ceremony today by giving thanks to the directions.
East.
Fire.
Serpent.
Thank you for keeping us warm and shining your light within us to help us shed old skin while we rest today.
Thank you,
Fire.
And to the south.
Mother Earth.
Thank you for giving us a surface to feel safe and complete today.
Thank you for allowing us to nestle up in your grace.
Feeling your strength.
And supporting us on the journey of new beginnings.
Thank you,
Earth.
And to the west.
Sacred waters.
Dolphin,
Turtle,
And all finned ones.
We are grateful for the movement within.
For the cleanse that you offered us today as we rested.
For the movement and the flow.
Thank you,
Sacred waters.
And to the north.
Air.
Wind and the planet breath.
Great white owl.
Thank you for lifting us up.
Allowing for spaciousness around us.
And room to move and to float in our yoga nidra ceremony today.
Thank you,
Great owl.
And to air.
You can start to wiggle out the toes and the fingers.
Maybe even rocking the head from side to side.
And becoming aware of your surroundings now.
And place your hands right on top of your heart.
Take a deep breath into your hands and your heart.
Honoring yourself for the willingness to be present with your healing process today.
For being in ceremony and for resting.
Thank you so much for being present with me today.
And present with spirit and your body.
May you walk in beauty.
