Transcript
Let's prepare for this Yoga Nidra practice by choosing to lay down in a spot that feels cozy for your physical body.
Assure that you're warm and that you have all the support you need for your bones and your head.
This practice is dedicated for the direction of east and the element of fire.
So let's begin now.
Sacred ones of the east,
Fire.
We ask for your presence to be strong as we sink into this rest practice.
The place of the rising sun,
Of illumination,
Transformation,
Passion and courage.
We invite the company of the first sun rays of the day.
To give prophecies or guidance for our day.
To light up the healing path.
The path that's most rich for our wiser self.
So holding the presence of fire and east with us.
That spark of life,
The spark of inspiration to move through our day.
Let's hold that sacred as we sink into deeper rest.
Let's do a few rounds of breathing.
Just to drain any morning fog that you might feel in your space or lingering feelings or visions from your dreamland.
We'll take two sips of air through the nose.
With a long exhale through the mouth.
Two sips in through the nose.
Long breath out,
Mouth.
Long breath in,
Mouth.
Once more.
And let's set our intention.
I will hold the flame close to my body to stay connected to spirit in my day.
I will hold fire close to me to stay connected to spirit and my higher self as I move through the day.
And now could you dissolve into stillness.
And as we move through this short body scan.
Could you imagine that you're dragging the spark of flame through all the parts that I name.
Begin to visualize a flame at the crown of your head.
Igniting your connection to creator and to the day.
And dragging the flame to the third eye.
To both eyes.
The tip of the nose.
Both ears.
The skull bones.
Brain.
The base of the skull.
The inside of the mouth.
Chin.
Feel the whole head ignited by the spirit of fire.
Passion and courage and connection.
Dragging the flame to the heart.
Both shoulders.
The elbows.
Wrist.
Palms of the hands.
Tips of the fingers.
Both hands and both arms.
Connected to fire.
Burning off what doesn't serve you.
Igniting this flame to the solar plexus.
The low belly.
Entire trunk of the body.
Hips.
Knees.
Ankles.
Soles.
Soles of the feet.
Tips of the toes.
Feel as if a spirit of fire could burn off anything you hold in the feet or the legs that doesn't serve your walk on earth.
Radiant sunshine.
Illuminating your whole body.
Could you feel your body breathing?
As you inhale,
Feel the breath move up the front body.
Exhale down the back body.
Inhale up the back body.
And exhale down the front.
Inhale up the front.
Exhale down the back.
Just continue to visualize this breath moving up and down the front and back body as a cleansing.
As you exhale,
Continue to sink into your support,
Into stillness.
And behind closed eyes,
Could you begin to visualize yourself preparing to light a fire somewhere in nature?
And you begin to light your fire,
Feeling the warmth rise up to meet your body.
Listening to the sound of the fire.
And this fire begins to get bigger and grow into your circle.
And as the fire grows,
It becomes a gathering place for all your loved ones.
All your loved ones begin to arrive and circle around the fire.
The ancestors arrive and circle around the fire.
Spirit,
Animals,
Any other guides you may have.
Arrive here.
As you gather around the fire,
You begin to offer what no longer serves you in the fire.
Any impurities,
Self-doubt,
Give it to the fire.
Disappointments and shame,
Offer it to the fire.
Thoughts that don't serve your highest good,
Offer it to the sacred fire.
Anything else that you want to offer,
The fire will take and transmute this energy.
So here you put your hands out so that you can feel the flame.
And just allow whatever you want to release to pour out of your hands and into the fire.
And once you have offered all you wish to release for today to the fire,
Could you remain in silence,
Allow your eyes to watch the flame.
The way it moves and dances.
Listening to the fire,
To the great spirit,
Or any messages,
Just listen.
And now use your hands as if pulling the energy from the fire to your body to cleanse and purify yourself.
Put your hands as close to the fire as you can to just gather some heat and then bring it back over your body like you're cleansing yourself with water.
Keep grabbing the fire,
Cleansing from the crown of the head down to the feet.
Washing the sacred fire,
Bringing it into your being.
And now notice the flame starting to die down.
As we reach the end of the flame,
We give thanks and we offer the flame a little sage,
Maybe tobacco or cedar,
As a way to honor the sacred element that comes from the east.
Stay with the fire until it reaches the dirt and becomes coals and dissolves.
And all the ancestors and the loved ones and the spirits begin to depart.
And you're left here alone with the remains of the fire and this open nature space.
And you look up at the sun and you thank the sun for bringing the inspiration and the vision of your day.
And you look at the fire and you put a seed of your intention there,
Of keeping the fire close to you to stay connected to spirit and your most wisest,
Highest self as you move through your day.
Now you can move your awareness back to the physical edges of your body.
You can come back to feeling your body here on the earth,
Resting.
You can start to deepen the breath.
Allow the powers of fire and ease to remain ignited as you move through your day today.
Thank you so much for this practice.
