Welcome to today's meditation.
I'm Sami Breguet with Om Alignment.
Today I want to offer a very beginner's friendly meditation.
Our practice is simply going to ask of us to focus our awareness on our breath.
If our thoughts begin to wander and we start to think about our to-do lists,
Or consider that we should have maybe brought a blanket over before we started or whatever the case,
All we have to do is without judgment pull our awareness gently back to our breathing,
To our inhales and our exhales.
So let's settle in.
Find a comfortable place to sit or lie down.
And as you begin to relax your muscles,
Go ahead and scan your body head to toe.
Search for any tension lingering that you can let go of.
Be sure to soften the space between your eyebrows,
Relax your jaw,
Soften the shoulders,
Release your abdomen muscles,
Relax your legs,
Feet,
Arms and hands.
And now as you soften into this space you're creating for yourself,
Gently shift your awareness to your breath,
Perhaps focusing on the nose where it enters and leaves your body,
Or on your chest where you can feel the gentle rise and fall of your breath.
If your thoughts begin to wander,
That's alright,
Just gently pull them back to your breath,
Back to the tip of your nose or your chest as you experience fully what it feels like to inhale and exhale.
Our breath is rhythmic,
It's continuous,
And yet somehow we're so often oblivious to it.
So if you do feel called in this moment,
Offer your gratitudes to your breath for continuously being there,
Supporting you and sustaining you.
Notice your soft inhales and exhales.
Feel the air in your nose,
And in your windpipe,
And in your lungs.
And then witness the air's journey back from lungs to windpipe to nose.
Continue to notice your breath,
Your every inhale and exhale.
Feel the coolness of the air on your inhales,
And the warmth of your breath on your exhales.
And let's be grateful that we were able to carve out this time for ourselves,
To simply notice something that's so foundational to our existence,
Something that does go so often unnoticed.
And as our practice comes to a close now,
Go ahead and take a long,
Slow inhale,
And let it go.
And allow your awareness to once more enter the space around you.
Thank you so much for joining me today.
I hope that as you go about your day,
It's easier to become aware of this rhythmic cycle that really does sustain us and keep us moving in the directions that we want to go.
I can't wait to see you for the next episode.
My name is Sami Birgitte with OM Alignment.
See you soon!
