Transcript
Find a comfortable lying position that allows your legs to relax,
Perhaps supporting your knees.
Allow the palms to turn up towards the sky to soften your shoulders.
Allow your eyelids to gently rest on the eyeballs,
Soothing your forehead,
Letting the lips and the forehead be wide.
Take a big inhale deep into the bottom of your belly and sigh opening the mouth.
Take another big deep inhale and sigh opening your mouth.
And gently let the lips touch,
Lifting the edges slightly.
And begin to listen to the sounds around you,
Becoming aware of your environment through only your hearing.
Acknowledge the space and its soundscape,
Allowing things to pass and change.
And set the intention that throughout this practice of Yoga Nidra you shall remain aware and listening to my voice.
Should your attention and consciousness drift in and out,
You will just come back to the practice and listening to my voice,
Allowing it to serve whatever you need at this time.
Soften into the sound or sensation of your breath.
Be aware of it changing with each inhale and each exhale.
Focusing the body resting on the surface you're lying on with each breath,
That contact becoming softer yet heavier.
Letting your body sink into being supported by this surface that you lie on.
Allowing it to hold you,
Allowing gravity to support you.
Don't think of a place,
It can be real or imaginary,
That makes you feel safe.
Picture and feel yourself in that place,
Feeling safe and secure.
Imagine yourself in that place right now,
Those feelings of safety and security all around and through you at this moment.
And then think of your intention,
Your heartfelt desire,
A short simple sentence in the present tense and repeat it to yourself three times.
And then becoming aware of the body,
We shall now rotate your consciousness through different body parts.
Either visualize or feel the body part as it is named in rapid succession.

Come back to your breath noticing the rise and fall at your navel centre.
Be aware of your breath around your navel lifting on the inhale and falling on the exhale.
Begin to count,
Inhaling rising for one,
Two,
Three,
Four and exhaling four,

Navel lift one,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Navel fours four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Watch your navel rise and fall as you breathe.
And then we come to the sensation of fire.
Feeling the heat of a fire warming through you from your navel centre,
Spread it out through the whole of your body.
Feeling that hot sensation throughout the whole of your body.
Allow that heat to feel its presence in your body right this moment in time.
Feel every cell in your body hot.
And then like an ice cube melting through your body,
Let it spread those cool sensations across the whole of your body.
Feeling all of your body and how it senses and experiences being cold right now.
Be aware of those sensations of cold throughout your body.
And come back to the sensation of the heat from the fire warming through all of your body.
How that sensation of the fiery warmth spreads through and changes the sensations and feelings in your body.
Coming back to the cold sensation.
Feeling that spreading through all of your body.
Experiencing the sensations of how cold feels around the whole of your body.
And then release those sensations and feel the sensation of being a young child.
Feel the energy,
The sensations of childhood,
Of youthfulness running through your body.
Recall a time where you felt your body almost youthful.
Experience feeling youthful right now.
And now come to the feeling of being old.
This is the feeling of being young.
This is the sensation of age and how that feels to you in your body.
Be aware of the sensations through your body of age.
Come back to the sensation of being young.
Try to hold both being young and old in your body together.
Experience both opposites as one in your body right now.
And then come to the point between your eyebrows centre.
Become aware that you are standing in a cave.
The entrance is behind you.
And as you look into the darkness in front of you,
You become aware that there is something alive.
Curious,
You begin to walk towards the breathing,
Living thing.
As you approach,
Become aware that it is a dragon.
Be aware of how you feel at seeing the dragon.
It opens its eye.
Look into the eye of the dragon.
Show your strength.
As you climb onto the dragon,
Holding onto its neck,
It lifts itself and walks you out of the cave.
At the entrance to the cave,
It drops and you feel yourself falling,
Holding onto the dragon.
The wind catches and lifts the dragon up and you fly through the sky.
Being aware of the sky around you and the scene beneath you of the earth and terrain below.
Watch and observe the journey as you fly on the dragon.
How you feel sitting on the dragon,
Where it takes you.
See the scenery change.
See the panoramic views all around.
The dragon takes you far,
Far away to a place you do not know,
Where it lands to a lake.
You climb off the dragon and stand next to the dragon,
Looking into the lake.
Before your eyes,
You see the scene unfold from a moment in your life where you wished you could have changed your actions and behaviour.
Witness that scene and change your behaviour as you watch to what you would have wished to have happened.
Experience the scene you wished you had lived.
When the scene is finished,
Write yourself a message on a piece of paper that acknowledges your forgiveness,
Compassion and acceptance for everything that happened.
When you have completed your message,
Show it to the dragon who breathes fire onto that letter and releases the letter,
Releasing all the memories and feelings.
Let the ashes fall into the lake,
The memory dissolved.
Hug the dragon,
Thank him and let him leave.
And as you look at your reflection in the lake,
Repeat your sankalpa,
That intention you said at the beginning of your practice three times with that same true feeling in the present tense.
And feel your breath filling your body from your navel centre.
Let that breath spread through your body,
Feeling your shape lying on the surface.
And as you become aware of your shape,
Begin to hear the sounds around you,
Starting to become aware of the place that you are in.
And as you begin to feel present in this place,
Start to move parts of your body,
Coming back into this reality,
Into this conscious experience.
And in your own time,
When you're ready,
Acknowledge that you have finished this practice of yoga nidra.
And that with a steadiness and ease,
You will continue with your day.
Namaste.
