Beneath The Boats
by Niamh O'Shea
There are nights when the dark feels closer than the sky. Nights where the weight sits low in the body, and even the smallest breath feels like it is searching for a place to land. These words came from one of those nights. A moment where the world above felt too far away, and the water below felt too deep, and I had to face the stillness that rose between them. It is not about fear, and it is not about breaking. It is about what happens in the quiet when nothing moves, and you finally hear the part of you that refuses to disappear. If you have ever felt swallowed by the dark or caught in a depth you did not choose. I hope these words hold you gently. Not to lift you out but to sit beside you until something inside you begins to soften again.
