Transcript

Welcome to this creativity meditation to unblock any areas that may be holding you back from allowing your full potential of creativity to flow through you.

Find yourself a seated position in any way that feels comfortable for you.

So whether that's a lotus position on the floor with your legs crossed,

Seated on a cushion,

Or that seated next to a wall with your back fully supported,

Or you're welcome to sit in a chair,

Whatever feels the most comfortable and supportive for you.

You may want a blanket in case you cool down during the meditation.

And just take a scan of your body,

Just noticing from your head to your toes,

Are there any areas of your body that feel a little bit tight,

Maybe a bit sore,

Maybe not as comfortable as you would like.

Is there any adjustments perhaps that you need to make to make yourself more comfortable for this meditation,

To feel more supportive?

Do you need any bolsters,

Anything under your knees?

And taking a breath through your nose and then out through your mouth,

Just a slow,

Slow breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.

And on this next breath,

We're going to really expand our lungs a little bit more and really get a little bit deeper with this breath.

So taking this next breath in now through your nose,

Pulling it all the way through your ribcage,

Down into your belly,

Really expanding that breath.

And then out through your mouth with a,

Allowing that breath just to come out and doing a full clear of that body.

And your next breath in through your nose,

Taking that breath in through your ribcage,

Can expand it a little bit more,

A little bit deeper,

A little bit more air,

Expanding down into your belly,

All the way down and out through your mouth.

Really clearing out that air.

And one more last big,

Big breath,

Your biggest yet,

In through your nose,

All the way in through your ribcage,

All the way into that belly and out through your mouth.

And do you feel your body just soften a little bit more?

And just allowing your breath to come back.

A natural breath for you,

In through your nose and out through your nose.

And connecting a little deeper with your body.

Are there any areas in your jaw that you just need to relax a little bit more,

Let it go?

Are there any areas in your shoulders or your shoulder blades that you're holding onto that you just need to let go?

Allow those muscles to melt and let those shoulders just drop a little bit further.

And let those shoulder blades know you don't need to work right now,

Just relax.

It's not about posture.

Maybe your head needs to dip down a little bit to just allow you to relax a little bit more.

How are your hips feeling?

Do you need to adjust your sit bones a little bit to feel a little bit more comfortable?

Do you need an extra cushion,

Something supportive under your knees or ankles?

And just noticing how you're feeling now.

And one last scan.

Is there any way you could be just a little bit more relaxed?

Allowing those eyes to close or just looking down into a soft gaze.

Allowing that mind to quiet.

If any ideas or thoughts come up,

You just say,

Not right now.

We can talk about that later.

And going into your third eye and just imagining you are surrounded by this beautiful forest.

Tall,

Tall ancient trees.

So tall they look like they reach the sky.

And you're just enveloped in this beautiful forest.

Huge ancient barks.

Stunning forest.

Beautiful green deep colors.

You're just noticing all this expansive nature all around you.

And as you notice this forest,

You notice there's a path that you hadn't noticed.

And you start walking along this path,

Curious,

Where does this go?

And the air is feeling so warm and comfortable.

It's like a hug from nature.

It's lush and rainforest and just moisture in the air that feels so good.

You take a deep inhale of this luxurious air.

In through your nose and out through your mouth.

You just continue on this path.

Noticing the beautiful sights around you,

The trees around you.

Mesmerized by the color,

The textures.

It's midday and you notice the sun is sparkling through the trees.

You hear beautiful bird songs and watch squirrels scurrying.

Collecting their nuts and their treasures for the day.

And your body is just enveloped in this beauty.

Of the sounds,

Of the smells,

Of the colors of nature.

And you're so far away from your regular sights and smells.

No longer noticing any sounds of the city.

And even if your regular day to day is nature,

There's something different about this forest.

Something you can't quite put your finger on,

But you feel so connected to nature.

Your body feels at ease.

It's kind of reminding you of those childhood days where you felt carefree.

You know those small moments that you were just running,

Barefoot,

Playing,

Hide and go seek.

And even if there's other kids around,

It's almost like you're just by yourself.

You're in the moment in your own little world.

Not a care,

Not worried about what happened a moment ago or what's going to happen.

And in the next moment,

Just fully in this present moment.

And as you keep walking,

You notice some ferns.

Kind of nestled amongst the base of all the trees.

The beautiful colors and textures.

The variety of the tree trunks,

The sizes and the variety of the bark.

So beautiful.

You notice the moss along the branches just kind of dripping down.

And you continue to walk and observe all these magical pieces of nature.

Like just look at it all.

What do you see?

Taking a moment to really just take it all in.

And as you continue to move forward,

You come to a fork in the road.

And you have to make a decision.

Do you go left or do you go right?

What do you choose?

It's up to you.

There's no map,

There's no route to tell you what will be at the end of each side.

But you get to choose.

Do you go right or do you go left?

And as you wander,

You follow the path.

As it weaves between the trees,

You hear the sounds of a creek.

And you don't see the creek,

But you can hear the water just trickling and rushing through.

And you continue to walk and you come across a bridge that's going to take you over this beautiful creek that you can now see.

You see the beautiful water,

The different rippling and the colors and the blues and the greens.

And all these beautiful pebbles.

So many varieties of colors.

Some blue and green algaes.

And you just mesmerize by watching this creek just flow under the bridge.

Almost in a trance,

Just watching the water flow.

And after some time of just observation of this water,

You decide to carry on.

And as you're walking,

You come up to an intersection.

And you look to your right and you notice,

Oh,

There's these horses coming.

And so you stop.

And just observe these four horses and their horseback riders walking through this path.

And they haven't even noticed you.

Because you're just so quiet and mesmerized with the sight.

And a little bit tucked in with the trees still.

And so you're just like a silent observer watching these horses.

And one horse is white with gray spots.

One is black like the night sky.

One is brown and one is tan.

And they're just massive and spectacular.

And you notice their riders and their outfits.

And how at one these riders are with their horses.

And how one they are in nature.

And after they pass,

You just continue on through this fork in the road and just keep going straight.

And you have no idea of the concept of time or how long you've been walking.

It feels like a lifetime in this forest but also just a moment in no time at all.

And you haven't felt this relaxed in a really long time.

Just in this moment.

Your mind feels clear.

You're not worrying about the past or the future.

You're just really enjoying the now.

The nature.

Everything that's around you.

Your body and mind are remembering how amazing this feels.

To just enjoy the moment.

To live in this moment as one.

And as you continue to walk,

You see an entry into a meadow.

And you take a deep breath just kind of basking in this last moment of the forest before you step into this beautiful meadow that is in front of you.

There are beautiful wildflowers everywhere.

The bright blue sky is scattered with these little cotton candy clouds.

Just little puffs.

And there's rolling hills that are just green and lush.

Grass that almost looks like carpet.

It's luxurious.

And you continue to walk and take in all this beauty of this meadow.

And for the first time,

You're seeing some children and they're playing.

They're running and they're chasing each other like a game of tag.

They're giggling and you smile just remembering,

You know,

That idea of being a carefree child.

Whether you felt like you were one in childhood or not.

You know,

That picturesque idea of just being carefree as a child.

It's right in front of you.

You're watching it.

And you continue on the path and the kids start to follow you.

It's quiet with their giggles.

And kind of faintly you start to hear them behind you.

And you continue walking along this path.

Still enjoying the meadow and the flowers.

And this beautiful blue sky with the puffs of cotton candy clouds.

And it feels so picturesque.

And you continue walking until you actually notice this building in the horizon.

And you didn't know about this building and out of curiosity,

You think,

Well,

What is that building?

Let me walk up and check it out.

Because it doesn't look residential or like it's a private home.

And as you walk closer,

You realize it's actually this beautiful art gallery.

Who knew this was here?

And so the doors open and you think,

Well,

Let me walk in.

Let me take a look at what's here.

And as you enter into this beautiful building,

And it's almost like a cottage,

But quite vast.

And blends in with the meadow.

The beautiful,

Subtle colors of nature.

It doesn't stand out like a building.

It blends beautifully in with nature.

And as you enter the front entrance and walk into a room,

You're in the main room and you notice on the left that there's a room.

And you think,

Well,

Let me start here.

So you slowly take in and observe what's in this room on the left.

And you notice it's an art gallery and there's beautiful paintings all along the wall.

And you just slowly take a look and make your way along each painting along the wall.

What do you see in each of these paintings?

Who is the artist?

What have they painted?

Just stopping at each painting and gathering all this information and observing.

How does this painting make you feel?

What do you see?

Amongst the paintings,

There's also drawings and there's photography.

There's a sculpture in the middle of the room and some screen painting.

And then at the very end,

Tucked in a far wall,

There's a projector showing a film.

And just stopping at every piece of artwork and observing the technique,

The medium,

The texture.

What are you drawn to?

Maybe you don't go and look at every item or every piece of artwork.

Maybe you're just drawn to specific ones.

Which ones and why?

What does the art remind you of?

What do you like about it?

What do you think the art is about?

What speaks to you?

Are there any messages in the artwork that maybe are for you?

Just sort of sitting in the middle of the room and just observing and taking in all the pieces of art in this room.

Taking a slow breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Thankful for this moment,

You exit the room and you enter the next room.

And this room has beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows and spectacular.

And it's almost like roll-up doors.

Like in the summer,

You could roll up these doors and it's sort of an indoor-outdoor feel.

And you can see through these windows this vast meadow and the beautiful blue sky and all these colourful flowers.

And you realize it's an art studio.

How delightful.

And there is every medium you could ever imagine in this room.

There's little cubbies and doors everywhere for you to pop in and get any art supply you could actually imagine.

And you just stand there taking it all in.

Can't believe that you've come across this magical space.

And then you notice a young artist.

And they're likely still in primary school.

A very young artist.

And they're at an easel and they're painting.

And you notice how focused and in the moment this student is.

They're expressive and allow themselves to be submerged in the work not worried about the final product or even what the artwork looks like in its current state.

Just in the moment creating and enjoying the process of creation.

And as you look at this child do they remind you of anyone?

Can you remember a time when you felt carefree like this as a child?

Did you wish that you could be in the moment to create art like this?

Or do you currently wish that?

And not to disturb the child's flow in your mind's eye thank them for what they have taught you and reminded you of the creative process that it's not about what it's to become it's about the joy of creation and the process of it and the fun of what it will become or not become it doesn't matter.

And the child senses you now at the door and they wave you in to find a seat and join them.

And you smile and you take their invitation to join.

You have a seat and you take in the beauty of the meadow in front of you and just take another three slow breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth.

And just allow what you're feeling in your heart as you're looking at this meadow and you're slowly breathing just connecting your body into the space.

What mediums are you drawn to in the room?

What do you want to work with?

Allow your body to be drawn to the supplies and the creative items that you're drawn to.

Go to that supply closet and grab any items that you feel drawn to.

And allow yourself to just play and follow into the flow.

Collect those items bring them back to your seat and just play.

Experimenting with the mediums you chose maybe grabbing new mediums to try out.

How does it feel as you're creating this art and maybe you're not thinking of it as art because it's play,

It's enjoyment,

It's joy.

But allowing yourself to just be free.

Free to experiment with these mediums free to just play and remembering it's not about the final piece it's about enjoying the creative process and not being in your head but being in the moment.

Allowing yourself to sit into the soul of you which is not in your head it's in your belly it's in the moment where you're not thinking about anything you're just enjoying and allowing creation to happen.

And two hours fly by and you realize the sun is starting to go down and you must go wow you created art for two hours and didn't even think about anything.

You put your art in a safe cubby knowing you can come back and admire it at any time and come back and play with it a little bit more at any time continue to work on it or start a new piece.

And you wave goodbye to the child and walk out of the studio and your heart is feeling full and surprised you hadn't known the studio was here how had you not known that you could grab this moment at any time and it's always here but now you know and you slowly walk back to the forest knowing you can come back here anytime anytime you choose.

You take with you the renewed creative curiosity the trust and the remembering of how you feel when you spend time in nature and how you feel when you're creating art in flow.

How beautiful is it to live in the now?

How beautiful is it to live in the now to not be worried about anything and just enjoy the pure moment of what is now.

And as you leave this forest and take your final breath just allowing yourself to take that oxygen of the trees and this beautiful feeling in your heart and the warmth and just thanking yourself for the time you took for this time you took for this walk for this meditation for this moment of creativity and allowing yourself to come back into your body as you step out of this forest and you're back in your space wherever you are in the world and just wiggling your toes and wiggling your fingers and just very gently awakening your body and coming back into this moment of real life of now.

And maybe shifting your feet back and forth or stretching out your legs giving yourself a little hug opening your eyes when you're ready and there's no rush and there's no hurry you come to as you feel and I would invite you to grab a journal and take note of anything you observed in this meditation write it all down and remember that any time you want to come back and be creative and expand yourself a little more that little inner child in you is here and you can listen to this meditation at any time.
