As a survivor of emotional abuse and a chronic illness, it took a VERY long time for me to get to a place of safety and freedom. I only wish I had known that all along, there was a place inside of me where a constant sanctuary existed. Using my experience as a psychologist, Association of Nature and Forest Therapy trained guide, and wellness coach, I wove together guided meditations to bring you to that safety within yourself. There is freedom from the storm - There is a peace you can find within the fear. This is Day 1 of 3, to releasing your fear and finding your freedom - here - now - within.

Hello love.

Whatever has brought you here,

To this moment,

To this place,

To hearing the sound of my voice,

Tell it,

I am safe here.

I am safe now.

Let these next few moments be the blanket you crawl under,

The shelter you can retreat to,

The calm to any storm.

Now find a comfortable position,

Maybe cross-legged on the ground or on the floor.

Sit with your spine straight,

Strong,

But try to avoid straining.

Sit comfortably connected to the ground,

The earth beneath you.

Notice where you are in the space around you.

Notice the space within you and let it all meet here now.

And when you're ready,

I want to invite you to close your eyes or hold a soft gaze for the remainder of this meditation.

We're going to start by noticing your breath.

Take a moment to see,

Feel,

And touch how you breathe.

Maybe place a hand on your belly and feel the air move within your body.

How does it expand under your skin,

Through your stomach?

How does it make your fingers move when they are placed on top of it?

And now maybe move your hand to your chest or your throat.

What do you feel as you breathe?

Now take a deep breath.

And as you do,

Breathe as if you are drawing all the air around you down deep into your heart.

And as you exhale,

Tell your heart,

Your source of lifeblood,

You are safe.

Breathe in again,

All you can gather from the space around you,

Down deep into the chambers of your heart.

And hold.

Hold it there.

Keep holding.

And release.

And as you exhale,

Say,

I am safe.

For the next few minutes,

Repeat this.

And as you do,

Slowly start to imagine what it feels like to be the version of yourself who finally feels safe.

What would he,

She,

Or they feel if nothing could hurt them?

Let yourself imagine and feel that surrender now.

For the next few minutes,

My dear,

You are safe.

You are free.

Let go.

Breathe.

Beautiful work.

If your thoughts wandered,

That's more than okay.

Just come back here to this moment now.

And imagine with me,

If you feel ready,

That you are the breath from all the space surrounding you.

And you are being drawn into the safety of your own heart.

Take a deep breath in and hold.

Here you are safe.

No one and nothing can harm you.

Your own heart is your refuge.

Breathe and release.

And now breathe normally for a moment as you imagine a room.

A place no one can find you.

Maybe it has a fire crackling or your favorite blanket covering you.

What sits with you in your hideaway?

What do you invite in?

What color are the walls?

Is there wallpaper?

Are there lights?

What do the fixtures look like?

What kind of light do they give?

What song is playing?

Is it loud?

Is it soft?

Can you hear it?

What do you smell?

Fire?

Incense?

The scent of perfume?

Fresh cut grass?

What smell is there in your safe room?

And what do you feel?

Is there a breeze going past your neck from an open window?

Or do you feel the heat of your fire on your skin?

Sit in this room,

Your hidden safe place.

What do you feel,

My dear?

What do you hear?

What do you see?

And when you are ready,

Take a deep breath in.

And imagine this time you are the breath in through your nose and down the hallways of your throat into the doorway of your heart.

And release.

Breathe normal.

Go ahead and repeat this visualization as long as you would like and come back to this recording when you're ready.

My dear,

You no longer have to live a fearful life.

There is safety within you.

You are safe.

There is peace always waiting for you despite what chaos storms around you.

You have a connection to the beyond,

To the divine,

To the space outside and within you,

To the breath of all that is,

That is us,

That is love,

That is life,

That is peace.

It is waiting for you always down deep in the chambers of your heart.

Come back to it as often as you need.

There may not be a whole lot you can rely on.

I don't know what's happening in your life,

What has brought you here to find peace.

But there is one thing you can rely on and always feel and always know.

And that is the continued,

Repetitive,

Reliable,

Trusted beat of your very own heart.

My love,

Whatever it is that you seek solitude and safety from,

I want you to know you are safe,

You are loved,

And there is peace waiting here for you.

And I want to congratulate you on taking the first step,

On exploring meditation,

On looking for ways to find your own peace.

You have already today claimed your own peace.

You are stronger than you were 15 minutes ago.

And you have found your own fortress,

Your own chamber of safety and peace.

You've done it.

So please carry this with you as you walk through the day,

As things get scary,

As you feel your peace slip away.

Remember,

Listen to the beat of your own heart that reminds you,

I am safe.

Go into its room and carry that sense of peace with you.

Through the day,

Through the night,

Through the dark,

Through the light,

No one can take the power of your peace.

No one can steal the beating of your own heart.
