Firstly,

Finding a comfortable,

Stable position for the body.

It's not much important what style or type of position it is,

But rather that your body is in a comfortable and stable place.

As you start to find that place of comfortableness and stability,

Bring a sense of interest or curiosity to the present moment.

When we are first starting out with meditation,

The present moment can seem a bit obscure.

So it's essential that we are ready and willing to develop a relationship with our breathing.

Following the breath,

Becoming interested in the breathing as it flows in through the nose and flows out.

Many times people can be concerned about controlling the breath or their way of breathing.

But actually,

This breath is not about controlling or not controlling.

This breath is just to breathe.

Breathe as deeply as you need to,

To keep your attention and your presence in the breathing.

As you follow the breath,

As you breathe as sincerely as you can,

You may notice that the awareness of your mind begins to enter,

Penetrate into your body.

You may begin to become aware of the heart beating,

The stomach expanding,

Possible places of tension in different areas of the body.

The practice is to be mindful,

To be aware,

But not to be attached or overly involved.

Just aware,

Just breathing,

Just listening with our present moment awareness.

Just listening with our present moment connection with the breathing happening.

The breath flowing in and the breath flowing out.

Breathing and noticing,

Breathing and aware of the heart,

The body,

The mind.

But whatever we are aware of,

Whatever we are mindful of as we breathe,

This practice is not to be attached.

So we are aware with kindness,

Aware with gentleness,

Aware with softness.

Coming back to the breathing again and again and again,

Willing and able to be aware of whatever arises,

But not caught in anything,

Not sinking into anything,

Not dwelling on anything.

This present moment of breathing in is exactly this present moment of breathing in.

This awareness of the heart beating,

The body being,

Is exactly the heart beating,

The body being.

Nothing added and nothing needing to reject or to take away from this experience.

Just breathing and aware.
