This is a lighthearted letting-go practice. You may use it for anger, something that has caused frustration, or a situation that no longer serves you. This is a visualization meditation where I will guide you through the steps of letting go.

Welcome.

Today's meditation will focus on letting go of what doesn't serve you,

Something you may have been carrying for some time,

Something you'd like to dismiss from your life.

This could be as simple as a conversation that didn't go the way you'd hoped or the resentment held within the body for past interactions or being mistreated.

Anger is a powerful emotion.

It's okay to feel angry,

But does it serve you?

It is said anger or holding a grudge is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.

So let's sit with anger today.

Come into a comfortable posture,

Upright but not uptight.

I invite you to close your eyes if that is comfortable.

Today we will be doing a bit of visualization.

Let's first watch our breath to drop in a bit deeper.

Take a moment to follow the inhalation and exhalation.

And if the mind wanders,

That's okay.

Begin again and focus on the breath.

Just checking in to see where the attention is and to bring it back.

Imagine you're in a large open field.

In the distance you see a barn.

You walk through the field taking in the beautiful surroundings.

As you approach the barn,

You notice its doors are unlatched.

You open the door and walk inside.

In the center of the barn is a large incinerator.

Surrounding it are many boxes.

As you get closer,

You notice each box is labeled problem one,

Problem two,

And so on and so forth.

You approach the box labeled problem one.

Let's take a moment and feel into what you would like to let go of.

A memory,

A moment,

A thing.

And let's feel the resistance it's causing.

And when you're ready,

I want you to put that into the box and tape it shut.

Keep breathing.

Feel the weight that has slowly been lifted.

You approach the second box.

Is there anything you'd like to put in it?

Take your time to feel into what you are letting go of.

You can repeat this process as many times as necessary.

I'll give you a bit of time to wrap things up.

You see a lever.

I'm going to ask you to pull it.

And when you do,

The incinerator springs to life.

Flames roar from the bottom.

Feel the warmth of it,

The anger,

The loss.

Realize it's okay to feel this way.

It's human.

When you are ready,

I'd like you to line the boxes up next to the incinerator.

How you proceed is up to you.

You can put each box in one by one,

Acknowledging each.

Or throw them or kick them.

Whatever is appropriate.

And as you do,

Say goodbye.

Good riddance.

You no longer serve me.

And watch as the boxes engulf with flames.

Have some fun with this.

Take a moment to acknowledge what was let go of.

How hard you've worked to get to this place.

And the weight it has lifted.

You walk to the lever and turn it off.

As you leave the barn,

It's a bright sunny day.

The air is clean and the day is fresh.

You may sit in the field and enjoy this or invite the eyes to open.

Thank you for taking this time to work on difficult emotions and circumstances.

This work isn't easy or always pleasant.

I find a quick trip to the incinerator to alleviate things I'm truly ready to let go of to be very helpful.

This isn't a cure-all,

But it does feel good.

Wishing you much love on your journey.
