Hey,
My name's Mike.
And today we'll be doing a meditation on grounding ourselves in the height of the storm.
So take a moment to get comfortable and we'll settle in.
Whatever that may look like to you,
Laying down.
And if you're comfortable,
We can invite the eyes to slowly close.
And if not,
Just a low gaze is fine too.
And we find ourself in front of a beautiful field.
And I'd like you to slowly walk to the center of it and take a seat.
In this field,
There's a clear sky,
Sunny day.
We just get comfortable in the field as well.
And we get into our meditation posture,
Whatever that looks like.
And we begin to focus on our breath.
Just focusing on one moment at a time.
The in-breath,
Then the out,
Over and over.
Nothing to do,
Nowhere to go.
Enjoying this beautiful field and anchoring into our awareness.
T-betting our focus.
Seeing if we could place our attention on one area,
Maybe the tip of the nose,
Maybe the belly.
And we really try and sit there and focus.
Imagining the wind and the grass and coming back to our focus point.
And as we're grounding ourself,
Gaining more presence,
A physical anchor begins to materialize next to you.
And the more we focus,
The bigger the anchor gets.
Creating this groundedness.
This stable point that we can return to.
And we notice that there's a rope tied to the anchor and to our waist.
And we keep building this anchor,
Breath by breath.
And in this beautiful field,
A breeze comes by and it begins to lift you,
Floating slowly up into the sky.
And the rope expands,
But the anchor stays below.
And we can take a look around from up here,
Taking note of what we see.
Looking down,
Seeing that we're still anchored.
Maybe narrowing our focus to feel that anchoredness.
And as the wind passes,
We slowly descend back down to the ground,
Safe and sound.
And we focus on our breath to continue building this anchor.
Deepening presence,
Breath by breath.
As you're sitting,
You feel a slight drizzle.
And the wind picks up.
And we begin to ascend again.
This time,
It's more windy.
And the rain begins to come down harder.
And at the top,
Take a look around.
Can you see your anchor from up here?
Or from here?
And if not,
Can you feel it?
Can we feel anchored amidst a storm?
I'll leave to you what the rain represents.
Could just be rain.
Or the inconveniences of life.
But can we feel that anchor while our mind is racing?
Can we stay calm in the storm?
And the option is always there.
The invitation to come down and re-anchor yourself at any time.
And slowly,
The rain begins to lessen.
The clouds begin to part.
And the wind gently brings you back down to land.
Checking in with yourself.
If you need a break.
And the invitation is to focus on the breath.
And go even deeper and build a bigger anchor.
Using whatever resources are comfortable for you.
Really getting in touch with your inner self.
Slowly building the foundation to weather any storm or turbulence.
One breath at a time.
One breath at a time.
And in the field,
We see a flock of birds flying in formation away.
Heading south.
And the leaves begin to turn beautiful reds and browns.
And they slowly fall from the sky and surround you.
And the temperature begins to drop.
And the field is clear.
And the silence is profound.
And it's broken by a single snowflake falling from the sky.
Landing on your nose and melting away.
And then another.
And slowly,
Snow begins to start falling.
And the wind begins to pick up.
And you begin to float back up to the sky.
Still attached to the anchor.
Still attached to the anchor.
And the wind starts to whip.
And the snow starts to howl.
And we've lost visibility of the anchor.
So we just try to feel into our connection with it within this blizzard.
This could be a sudden change in your life.
Something unexpected or expected.
Can we remember that we always have an anchor available to us?
As long as we're alive,
We have this breath.
And we can focus to reground ourselves.
And within this blizzard,
Lightning appears.
And rain,
And hail,
And wind,
And snow.
The unexpected occurs.
And we remain anchored to what we know is true.
Our truest self.
In the lightning gets spaced further and further apart.
And the large hail stones diminish in size.
And the snow turns to rain.
And we're watching this still anchored.
And the rain slowly drips away.
And you are let down on a cloud slowly back onto the ground next to your anchor.
And the rain stays safe.
And the bitter cold slowly fades into new life and a new understanding and a new way of looking at life with new resources and a gentle reminder that this is always available to us.
And in the field you slowly begin to stretch out and stand up and look around.
And you notice that the anchor is still there but it's gotten smaller in size.
And you pick it up and place it in your pocket as a reminder that you can always return to this field of peace.
Taking a moment to thank yourself for showing up walking slowly away from the field back into your house back to your meditation space and we find ourself in the present taking one deep breath in through the nose and out through the mouth and whenever you're ready inviting the eyes to open and coming back to this space.
