This guided meditation invites you to visit a very special garden where the seeds we plant grow our intentions, goals, dreams and aspirations. Take some time away from the day to day and focus on what you want to achieve.

How are you today?

However your day has been,

I'm glad that you have taken some time for yourself to listen to this meditation and help create some feelings of peace and contentment.

Whilst meditation is often spent sitting still,

It's rarely without effort.

So give yourself some gratitude for allowing yourself some time for self-care and relaxation.

This meditation is all about intention.

An intention being something that you want,

Something that you aspire to be,

A goal or a plan,

Something that you would like to see through.

It's about focusing on the positive changes you would like to make in your life,

No matter how small they might be,

And giving them the recognition and space to grow.

It is a guided meditation that encourages you to visualise the steps and actions.

If visualisation is not something that you find easy or possible,

You can still listen along and make adjustments to make it your own.

So let's begin.

Find a comfortable seat.

This can be done on a chair,

A cushion,

The floor,

Your bed,

Wherever you feel you can relax and focus is the right space.

You can choose to lie down,

But remember that the purpose of this meditation is not to fall asleep.

So if lying down means that you might,

Then sitting may be the better option.

Take a few moments to adjust your seating position.

You don't have to sit in a cross-leg position or lotus position,

As long as you are comfortable and able to stay in that position for the duration of the meditation,

Then that is okay.

When you are settled,

Turn your head to the left to look over your left shoulder,

Allowing for a gentle stretch along the right side of your neck.

This should not cause any pain,

But if you do have an injury or discomfort in this area,

Please don't stretch any more than is comfortable.

Slowly turn your head to the right to look over your right shoulder,

Allowing for a gentle stretch along the left side of your neck.

Pay any attention to signals that your body is giving you for your level of comfort and make sure that you don't over-stretch.

This exercise is simply to relieve any tension in the neck and shoulder areas and to encourage blood flow.

Repeat this movement a total of three times on each side.

Then when you have finished,

Bring your head back to a central position,

Perhaps noticing the extra warmth that has settled into your neck area.

Now,

If you can,

Roll your shoulders slowly forwards three times,

Nice and gently and only moving them as is comfortable.

As you move your shoulders upwards,

Take a deep in-breath through your nose.

And as they come down,

Breathing out through your mouth,

Really feeling that relaxation as you exhale.

You may hear some clicks or crunches,

But as long as you don't have any pain then that's okay.

Now repeat this movement but rolling your shoulders backwards,

Inhaling as they move up and exhaling as they move down.

Repeat this three times as well.

And when you feel settled,

Place your hands either in your lap,

By your sides or simply rest them on your legs.

Close your eyes and just focus on the sensation of your breath for a moment.

Breathing normally at a pace which is natural and doesn't require any additional effort.

Simply inhaling and exhaling through your nose,

Taking a few moments just to notice how that feels in your body.

Air entering your nose,

Cool and fresh.

The lifting and expanding of your chest.

The small sounds of your breathing.

The warmer air in your nose as you exhale.

The relaxation of your chest and your stomach.

We breathe all day and all night,

But rarely do we stop to notice how we are doing it or how it makes us feel.

This simple yet incredible function that keeps us alive.

Our breath deserves our attention.

Just allow yourself a few moments to settle into a pattern which feels natural and relaxed.

I want you to imagine a garden.

It may be your own garden if you are lucky enough to have one.

It might be a garden that you have seen that left an impression on you.

Maybe it's a public garden that you like to visit.

Or maybe it is somewhere which exists inside your imagination.

Wherever it is,

It's somewhere that you feel comfortable,

Peaceful and you enjoy spending time here.

The weather is sunny,

With little white fluffy clouds that occasionally pass by.

The sky is a bright blue and the sun is warm on your skin,

But not too hot.

You can feel that warmth on your face and on your hands.

The warmth of spring that promises longer days and lighter evenings.

There is no one else in this garden.

You have the space to yourself.

It is quiet,

Safe at the sounds of small birds as they pass overhead,

Busy with the tasks of the day and preparing for the arrival of new life.

A subtle breeze occasionally moves,

But other than that there is no movement.

Everything is at peace.

The garden is coming to life around you.

In every flower bed there are fresh green shoots,

The signs of plants long dormant pushing through the earth to find the sun,

Preparing to spread their leaves and breathe out into the world again.

Some early plants have already started to open,

Little cheerful splashes of yellow and lilac between the green and the brown of the earth.

The garden is only just beginning,

The signs of life prevailing over harder times all around.

The garden is cared for,

But still natural,

The grass dotted with white and yellow daisies,

The soil freshly dug over.

You notice that you are sitting on the ground and it is dry beneath you.

Your sitting bones,

The backs of your thighs,

Your calves and your ankles connected to the earth,

Your roots stable and grounded.

Resting on the grass to your right is a small drawstring hessian bag,

No bigger than the palm of your hand.

And as you pick it up you notice that it is very light,

So you open the bag and can see inside that there are five small brown seeds.

You gently empty the seeds into the palm of your hand and allow them to warm in the sunshine against your skin.

You see that the flower bed in front of you has many new plants,

But there is also space for something else to grow.

This is where you can plant these seeds.

But these seeds will not grow in the same way.

They won't become plants,

But they will grow intentions.

Each little seed represents something that you wish to give life to.

Something that you want to cultivate and nurture.

Something that will give you the same pleasure as watching the plants come to life.

This is the garden where your intentions grow and take root.

You take one of the seeds between your left thumb and forefinger and hold it carefully.

This is your first intention.

What would you like to see grow?

Maybe you would like to spend more time outdoors,

See family more often,

Work on a creative project,

Exercise more,

Get more sleep,

Change your diet.

Whatever the intention is,

It is yours and yours alone.

It is part of your journey and your growth.

You lean forwards and gently push the little seed into the waiting earth,

Which is soft and warm in the spring sunshine.

The rich brown soil parts easily,

Welcoming the seed to be buried.

You clearly think of your intention,

Or perhaps even say it out loud as you settle the seed into its new home,

Where it can receive the nutrients,

Support and care it needs to realise its purpose.

There are four seeds remaining,

So you can plant more intentions if you wish to.

Or perhaps one is enough for now.

With each seed is a new idea,

A new purpose,

A new plan of your making and your design.

The seeds are promises to yourself that you will make positive changes,

That you will work to improve and proceed.

This garden serves as your space to return to whenever you need a reminder of the peace that comes with progression.

You carefully push the loose soil on top of the seed,

Tucking it into its new home where it can begin its journey.

You will water it with purpose,

Cultivate it with care and nurture it with spirit.

The sun will always shine in this garden,

For this simple task of planting and growing,

Infusing your intentions with life.

You can stay in this garden for as long as you want to,

Enjoying the peace and the potential.

Or you can return to a more wakeful state if you feel that you are ready to.

Remember that you give these seeds power,

Your determination will help them realise their purpose.

When you're ready,

Gently start to move your fingers and toes to help bring awareness back to the present.

Notice your breath which has been supporting you through this meditation and take a few deeper breaths in and out to help re-energise your body and your mind.

Rotate your shoulders,

Gently stretch your neck from side to side and take a final deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth,

Really giving that exhale some power.

And when you are ready,

Open your eyes and take that positive mindset forward into whatever you do next today.
