Good morning,
And welcome to this meditation by M for Meditation.
Are you a morning person,
Or do you find that your energy is higher in the afternoon or evening?
Whichever you are,
This meditation aims to help you set your intentions and mindset for the coming day.
The present,
The here and now.
Today is the only time we can make a difference.
Yesterday has been and gone,
And tomorrow is yet to happen.
So whatever you have planned,
Whatever you hope to achieve,
Let's focus on today and try to do our best to make the most of it.
You can do this meditation anywhere,
Be it while you are still in bed,
Lying down or sitting up,
On the sofa with your favourite beverage,
Outside in nature,
Or wherever you feel restful,
But try to make time for it before you start any other tasks.
It's likely that your body is still relaxed if you only woke up a short time ago,
But still take a few moments to make sure that you're comfortable where you are,
And that you're not under any tension to hold your position.
Your chosen position should not require any additional effort or energy from you to maintain.
Just existing in your space,
In a relaxed state.
Close your eyes and bring your focus to what your body is doing.
Are you clenching your hands?
Are your shoulders raised?
Is your jaw tight?
Notice any points of tension and take a moment to unwind those coils and let your body settle.
To help bring our focus to our meditation,
We will take four deep breaths together,
In through the nose and out through the nose.
For the in-breath,
We will do a count of four,
And for the out-breath,
We will do a count of eight.
When we breathe out,
Every muscle,
Fibre and cell of our bodies relaxes,
And it gives us the opportunity to decompress.
This is why we aim to make the out-breath longer.
We want to start our day feeling relaxed and calm,
And the simple act of breathing can really help us to get this on the right track.
So in your own time,
And in your own rhythm,
Take those breaths now.
Four counts in,
And eight counts out.
And if you want to do more than four breaths in total,
That's okay.
Do what feels right for you.
Breathing now into your normal breathing pattern,
Just breathing in and out to your own rhythm,
Enjoy the stability and peace that that brings.
Listen to the words of the meditation,
And allow yourself to accept them as your mindset for the coming day.
Whatever you have planned for today,
Whatever you hope to achieve,
Whether you have a busy day or a quiet day,
Something exciting or something that you're not looking forward to,
You will do your best.
Your best is enough,
And that is unique to you.
You do not need to compare yourself to others to try and keep up with them.
You can make choices which are right for you,
And allow you to be the best version of yourself.
It's okay to take a break and a breather if things get too much.
Everyone has their limits.
We cannot do everything.
You are allowed to find things difficult.
It does not mean that you are weak or incapable.
It means that you are human.
Be proud of what you achieve.
Showing pride and recognizing your achievements will help you begin the next task.
Sometimes things go wrong and mistakes are made.
It's what you learn from them and how you use that learning that matters the most.
Time for yourself is never time wasted.
Don't be afraid to say no.
No one can do everything.
The moments you take for your well-being today are the moments of better well-being for tomorrow.
All of these affirmations apply to us regardless of who we are,
What we do and how our days pan out.
You can return to this meditation throughout the day if you wish to.
It is just as true at the beginning of the day as it is during and at the end of the day.
Allow yourself a deep,
Refreshing,
Energizing breath in through the nose and sigh it out through your mouth,
Even making a vocalization if you want to.
Open your eyes and feel that invigoration of intention and positivity.
Today is your day.
Enjoy it.
