Welcome.
Let's take this moment to pause at the sacred threshold of Imbolc.
The point on the wheel of the year where winter loosens its grip and the first stirrings of spring start to awaken.
This is a time of subtle yet profound renewal,
A celebration of light returning,
Seeds stirring beneath the surface and life quietly preparing to bloom.
Today we honour this tradition with the Yoga Nidra practice,
An inward journey to connect to the earth's reawakening and your own inner potential.
Come to rest in a comfortable position.
Allow your body to sink deeply into the support of the earth.
Adjust yourself until every part of you feels at ease.
Let your arms rest softly by your sides,
The palms open and receptive.
Close your eyes and take a deep breath in.
Let it expand your chest and belly,
And as you exhale,
Release any tension.
There's nowhere to be but here,
No time but now.
Trust the earth to hold you as we now journey inward.
Bring your awareness to the very tips of your toes.
Imagine them softly touching the cool earth,
Still kissed by winter's frost.
Feel the energy of the soil beneath,
Quiet but alive.
As you breathe in,
Imagine the energy of the earth gently rising into your toes,
Awakening them.
And on the exhale,
Release any heaviness or tension.
Shift your attention upward to your feet and your ankles.
Notice their weight.
How they sink into the ground beneath you.
Picture yourself standing barefoot on cold,
Damp grass.
Feel the coolness spreading across your skin.
Refreshing,
Grounding.
Sense the earth waking beneath you,
Tiny roots and seeds stretching out in response to the subtle warmth of the changing season.
Now let your awareness travel to your legs,
Heavy and supported.
Imagine the strength of the soil below holding you steady.
Feel the gentle hum of life deep beneath the surface.
It's just beginning to stir.
Your legs are rooted like a trunk of a tree,
Connected to its underground pulse.
Bring your focus to your lower belly and pelvis.
Imagine a small flame here,
Like the soft flicker of a candle.
This is the fire of Brigid,
The goddess of Imbolc,
Who warms the earth and kindles the fire of creation.
With each breath,
Feel this flame grow a little brighter,
Spreading warmth throughout your body.
Move your attention to your chest,
Noticing the gentle rise and fall of your breath.
Imagine the air around you filled with the scent of fresh rain and damp soil.
With each inhale,
Draw in this promise of growth.
With each exhale,
Release anything that no longer serves you,
Letting it dissolve like melting snow.
Now shift attention to your hands.
Feel their softness,
Their openness.
Imagine holding a small snowdrop flower in its stem,
Cool and smooth in your palm.
Feel the delicate weight of it,
The quiet strength of life returning.
Finally,
Bring your focus to your face,
Soften your jaw,
Your cheeks,
Your forehead.
Feel a faint touch of sunlight on your skin,
Pale but gentle,
Whispering the promise of spring.
Allow the warmth to settle,
Melting away any lingering tension now.
Let us journey now to the heart of Imbolc.
Picture yourself lying in a quiet field,
The earth beneath you is cool and firm,
Still wearing the last frost of winter.
Above the sky is soft and grey,
Tinged with hints of gold from the rising sun.
Everything feels still,
Yet there is a quiet hum of energy,
A deep stirring that is just below the surface.
Feel yourself sinking into the earth as you are part of it.
Beneath you imagine seeds resting in the soil,
Dormant yet alive.
Picture their tiny forms,
Perfectly designed,
Holding the potential for new life.
In the darkness,
They begin to stir now,
Sensing the faint warmth of the sun returning.
Now imagine a single seed deep within the soil,
This seed is yours.
It's your intention,
Your potential,
Your dream for the coming season.
See it begin to crack open,
Its roots reaching downward,
Its shoot pushing upward.
Feel the determination in this tiny sprout,
Its instinctive drive to grow and find the light.
The sprout breaks through the surface,
Its leaves unfurl tender and green,
Around it the whole world is awakening.
Hear the soft sound of water melting and trickling,
Tiny streams weaving through the landscape.
Smell the earthy sweetness of damp soil,
Of moss and of early buds.
Taste the crisp freshness of the air,
Filled with life,
Filled with possibility.
As this sprout grows,
So does your own potential.
See yourself standing in the meadow,
Where the wildflowers are beginning to bloom.
The light of Imbolc shines down upon you,
Pale but growing ever stronger.
Feel the sun's warmth on your skin,
The soft caress of the wind.
You are alive,
Connected to the cycle of renewal,
Part of the great turning of the seasons.
Begin to draw your awareness back to your breath.
Notice its gentle rhythm,
The way it connects you to the present moment.
Feel the support of the earth beneath you,
Steady and constant.
Wiggle your fingers and toes,
Letting small tiny movements ripple through your whole body.
When you are ready,
Open your eyes,
Let your gaze soften,
Noticing the light around you,
However faint or bright it may be.
As you return to the world outside,
Carry with you the essence of this practice.
Remember the seed within you,
The potential you hold.
Tend to it gently,
Nurture it with care,
And trust in its ability to grow.
Like the earth,
You are in the season of quiet awakening,
A return to life.
Honour this cycle and know that you are part of something timeless,
Something sacred.
Thank you for joining me in this in-bulk yoga nidra.
Go with peace.
Namaste.
