I'm Louise Vorbal.
I'm currently in my 19th week of pregnancy.
And so today I'd like to share with you a meditation for pregnancy.
One of the most beautiful things we can do is carry a child and give birth,
And it's a privilege to those who want and choose to follow this path.
One of the things I find myself doing is not being as present as I'd like to be,
To enjoy each moment,
And not really finding time,
Especially when you have other children and other things going on in your life,
To really slow down and actually spend some time with baby.
So I was looking for a meditation for this,
And I'm yet to find one,
So I thought I'd make one.
I hope you find it useful.
So starting,
As always,
By getting comfortable.
Now,
I actually quite like sitting on a ball.
So if that's available to you and that's something you'd like to do,
I find it actually quite grounding and quite comfortable for my lower back.
If not,
You can sit on a pillow on the floor.
Obviously,
If you're lying down in a safe position,
I trust you know what to do with your body.
And whenever you're ready,
Closing your eyes.
And let's start,
If it feels available to you,
By putting your hands either side of your belly,
Just in front of your hips,
And taking a long,
Slow,
Deep breath in.
And as you breathe in,
Feel your fingers move away from each other,
And your belly expand.
And then release.
And as you release,
Your fingers coming closer together.
Just relaxing everything now.
And let's take a few of these breaths together.
One more time,
Take a long,
Slow,
Deep breath in.
Belly expand.
Gently release,
Let that go.
Belly form.
Long,
Slow,
Deep breath in.
Feel it expand.
As you release,
Give your baby a hug.
And then feel free to keep your hands where they are,
Or wherever they feel comfortable for you.
And just spending a few moments,
Noticing how you're feeling.
Doing a quick scan up and down our bodies,
From our feet to our head.
Breathing into any areas of tightness or tension,
And releasing on the exhale.
And if it feels available to you,
Repeating the following affirmation,
The mantra,
I trust that my body knows what to do to grow and nurture my baby.
I trust that my body knows what to do to grow and nurture my baby.
Repeating,
If it feels comfortable and right,
Maybe even creating your own for the next few moments.
Releasing that,
Letting it go.
Just repeating the following affirmation,
I am on the inhale,
Here now on the exhale.
Just spending a few moments in present moment.
I am on the inhale,
Here now on the exhale.
And finally,
One of my personal favourites,
I trust on the inhale,
The process on the exhale.
Knowing that you're exactly where you need to be right now.
I trust on the inhale,
The process on the exhale.
Repeating this internally and silently,
Until you hear the sound of my voice again.
Just starting to come back into your body,
Maybe bringing some movement,
If you're on a ball it might feel right to wiggle your hips a little bit,
Maybe even bounce up and down,
I'm told babies love that.
Wiggling your fingers and your toes,
Perhaps moving,
Adjusting your neck and your shoulders,
Going back into the room,
Whenever you feel ready,
Opening your eyes.
Congratulations and have a beautiful rest of your day.
Thank you for meditating with me.
