Let's begin by finding a quiet,

Comfortable space where you can either lie down on your side or sit supported by soft cushions.

Gently close your eyes or soften your gaze downward.

Take a deep breath in through your nose for four counts,

And exhale slowly through your mouth for six counts.

One more time,

Take a deep breath in through your nose for four counts,

And exhale slowly through your mouth for six counts.

Feel your shoulders drop and your body begin to soften with that exhale.

This is your time,

A time to be fully present,

To nurture yourself,

And to connect deeply with the precious life growing within you.

With every inhale,

Imagine drawing in calmness and warmth.

With each exhale,

Release tension,

Stress,

And any lingering worries or fears.

Place one hand on your heart and one hand on your belly.

Feel the rise and fall of each breath beneath your hands.

Inhale slowly for a count of four,

One,

Two,

Three,

Four,

And now exhale gently for a count of six,

One,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five,

Six.

Continue this rhythm on your own for a few cycles of breath,

Breathing in peace and breathing out tension.

Each slow breath is signaling your nervous system to relax,

Calming your body and mind.

If thoughts arise,

Imagine them drifting away like clouds.

Gently guide your attention back to the breath,

Back to this peaceful moment.

Gently floating your awareness to the top of your head.

On your next exhale,

Allow your scalp and forehead to release any tightness,

Softening the muscles around your eyes and unfurrowing your brow,

Unclenching your jaw.

Maybe wiggle your jaw slightly,

Letting it hang loose and easy.

As you relax your jaw and facial muscles,

Notice a wave of relaxation flowing downward.

When the jaw and throat relax,

The pelvic area can relax too,

Opening gently in response.

Feel into that connection as a warm,

Melting sensation.

With each breath out,

Feel your neck and shoulders dropping away from your ears,

Heavy and loose.

Breathe in comfort and breathe out tension.

Continue scanning down your body,

Feeling the warmth of relaxation in your chest and heart area,

Inviting your heart to be open and calm,

Releasing any tightness in your arms and hands,

Letting your fingers softly uncurl.

With each exhale,

Your back releases vertebra by vertebra,

Gradually sinking a little deeper into the surface beneath you.

Soften your belly.

Allow it to be soft and round,

Creating space for your baby.

Let your hips and pelvis relax,

Imagining them widening and opening with ease.

Down through your thighs,

Let the big muscles go limp,

Softening your knees,

Your calves,

And finally your feet.

Feel a gentle tingling or warmth in your toes as all the tension drains out into the earth.

Feel a gentle tingling or warmth in your toes as all the tension drains out into the earth.

Your entire body is now enveloped in a blanket of relaxation.

Inhale peace,

Exhale release.

You are completely safe and at ease in this moment.

If you notice any remaining areas of tightness or any lingering fears,

Imagine on your next breath that you can direct your breath there.

Inhale into that spot,

And as you exhale,

Imagine tension or fear leaving as a dark cloud dissolving into the air.

You might quietly acknowledge any fear or anxiety,

And then let it go with your breath.

You are creating space for confidence and trust.

With each inhale,

Imagine a soothing light filling that space.

Perhaps a soft golden light of strength.

This warm golden light flows in with your breath and travels to every corner of your body,

Warming and loosening each muscle.

As you exhale,

You let go of what no longer serves you,

Any stress,

Any fear.

Feel yourself becoming lighter,

More open,

And more confident with each breath.

Gently floating your awareness to rest in your belly,

Where your baby rests.

You may wish to gently cradle your belly with both hands,

Feeling its warmth.

Envision that same golden light in your heart radiating down into your womb,

Surrounding your baby in a loving,

Protective glow.

See this light as soft and powerful,

Wrapping around both of you like a comforting blanket of love.

With every inhale,

The light grows brighter and fills you and your baby with peace.

With every exhale,

You send away any negativity or worry,

Releasing it completely.

Take a moment to feel your baby's presence.

You might sense a gentle movement or simply an inner knowing of your little one responding to this quiet time together.

Continue to breathe slowly as you silently communicate love and safety to your baby.

With each breath in,

Imagine sending warmth and nourishment to your baby.

And with each breath out,

Feel a loving response coming back,

An unspoken bond growing stronger each day.

You and your baby are already a team,

Already sharing this incredible journey.

It's completely natural as the birth draws closer to wonder how it will unfold.

For a few moments now,

Let's visualize a positive birth experience.

Imagine yourself on the day labor begins.

Bring this scene into detail now.

Perhaps you are at home when you feel the first gentle waves of contractions.

Instead of fear,

You feel a sense of calm awareness.

You know it's time and you feel ready.

Envision the environment you desire.

Maybe soft,

Dim lighting,

A warm bath or shower,

Or the comforting presence of your birth partner,

Midwife,

Or doula by your side.

In this visualization,

Each surge or contraction is manageable.

Picture a wave building and rising within you,

And then gently falling away.

You might imagine each contraction as a powerful ocean wave.

As it comes,

You take a deep breath and ride the wave,

Allowing it to wash through you without resistance.

You are like a serene surfer or a graceful jellyfish floating in the water,

Simply going with the flow of the wave.

As the wave peaks in intensity,

You breathe,

And as it recedes,

You relax even more deeply.

See yourself coping calmly with each wave,

One at a time,

Staying in the present moment.

Each wave brings your baby closer to you.

Perhaps you can even visualize your cervix gently opening like a blossom with each contraction,

Like a lotus flower unfurling petal by petal,

Opening up to allow your baby to move down safely.

In this vision,

Your body knows exactly what to do.

You sway or move instinctively,

Maybe changing positions,

Breathing deeply and staying soft.

You feel surrounded by support and encouragement.

If any discomfort comes,

You meet it with your breath and the knowledge that each surge is a sign your baby is on the way,

And it cannot be stronger than you because it is you.

It is your own powerful body working for your baby.

This challenge of labor would not be presented to you if you were not capable.

See the moment of birth in a positive light.

Perhaps you visualize the final gentle push and your baby slipping into the world,

Calm and healthy.

Envision that first cry and the moment your baby is placed onto your chest,

Warm and wet and real.

Feel the flood of love and relief as you hold your baby,

Both of you safe and filled with love.

Take a moment to truly feel that joyful outcome in every cell of your being.

Your birth can and will be a safe,

Wonderful experience for you and your baby.

Now in this relaxed state,

Mentally repeat the following affirmations,

Either silently or in a soft whisper.

Let each phrase become a truth that settles comfortably in your mind and heart.

I am calm,

Strong,

And ready to give birth.

My body is wise and knows exactly what to do.

Each breath I take brings me and my baby closer to meeting each other.

I trust my body and I trust my baby.

I release any fears and welcome my baby's birth with confidence and love.

My baby is safe and I am safe.

We are surrounded by love.

Birth is a natural,

Safe,

And positive experience for us.

I am not alone in this.

My baby and I are working together and we are supported by amazing medical staff.

As you affirm these statements,

Truly feel their meaning.

Notice which words resonate with you,

Perhaps the feeling of strength in your body or a deep trust in the natural process unfolding.

With each affirmation and each breath,

You are training your mind to respond to labor with calm and confidence.

You are instilling a belief that yes,

You can do this.

You would not be granted the gift of a child if you were not mentally and physically prepared for childbirth.

Every moment of relaxation you create now is a gift to yourself and your baby.

Gently return your full attention to the connection between you and your baby.

Feel your heartbeat under your hand and know that your baby hears that steady,

Reassuring rhythm all the time.

It is the sound of home and safety for your little one.

You might wish to say gently in your mind,

We are a team.

We will work together.

I will keep you safe.

Your baby hears and feels your love and confidence.

Inhale deeply,

Sending warmth to your baby and exhale,

Any remaining tension.

There is a golden thread of love connecting your heart and your baby's heart.

In this peaceful moment,

Everything is okay.

You are calm,

You are strong,

And you are filled with love.

Ever so gently now,

Becoming aware of your body in the room again as you start to bring yourself back.

Feel the surface beneath your supporting weight.

Notice the air as it dances on your skin.

Inviting some gentle movement through your fingers and toes.

Aware of how it feels to move once again.

Take a final deep breath in and a slow breath out.

Know that you carry this peace and confidence with you.

You can return to this relaxed state and these visualizations any time you need.

You are prepared,

You are capable,

And you trust the journey ahead.

When you are ready,

Slowly opening your eyes and carrying with you a sense of calm empowerment.
