We sometimes try to suppress our feelings.
We overeat,
We overspend,
And we watch far too much Netflix or YouTube to take our minds off the feelings we don't want to feel.
When you learn to process these feelings,
You no longer have to compensate.
My name's Katrina Horne,
And in this audio,
We're not going to attempt suppressing emotions.
We're not wanting them to go away.
We are going to allow them to be there.
On a physiological level,
Feelings and emotions are simply hormones coursing through your body.
You can't make them go away.
They're part of living and breathing.
What you can do is to change your reaction to them.
To do this,
You first have to normalize the hormones or feelings or emotions in your physical body so that your subconscious mind will no longer be afraid of them.
It'll think it's normal.
You do this by becoming very familiar with the feeling or the emotion.
Let's start this exploration.
Please close your eyes and breathe in and out a few times in your own time,
In and out.
Now become aware of the feeling or an emotion you're feeling.
Name it.
What is this feeling?
Where is it located in your body?
It could be in the pit of your stomach.
It could be in your chest.
It could be in your left shoulder.
It could be anywhere.
Locate it.
What does it look like?
What color is it?
Is it lit or is it dark or somewhere in between?
Is it moving?
Is it pulsating?
Is it still?
Is it dense?
Heavy?
Fluffy?
Big?
Tiny?
Is it making a sound?
Is it humming like an engine?
Is it screaming?
Emitting static?
Churning?
Thumbing?
Has it got a smell?
Describe it.
What does it smell like?
Bitter almonds?
Dew drops?
Has it got a sting to it?
Be with it for a minute.
Observe it.
Is it still there?
Has it changed?
Is it leaving?
Evaporating?
Melting away?
Dissolving?
If it's still there,
Let that be okay.
It's okay.
It can be there.
It can come along with you.
That's not a problem.
It can come with you on a road trip.
It's there in the back seat.
You are in the driver's seat.
It's there,
But you're not letting it decide.
You've got a plan for where you're going,
And you're going to follow the plan.
It can't decide where to turn,
Where to park.
It's just there.
It's there as a passenger.
You can leave it there.
It's okay.
In fact,
You hardly notice it when you're driving because you're focusing elsewhere.
You're looking out on the road ahead.
You know it's there.
Not a problem.
It can stay.
You're the driver.
It's all good.
You're safe.
You're safe and well.
All's well.
You've got this.
