Welcome to this guided meditation.

Here you will learn how to be with what is by using breath work and visualization.

And if you're thinking right now,

I find that hard to do to meditate.

I cannot quiet my mind even for one moment.

Then I want to remind you friend,

That this meditation was made exactly for you.

And now I want you to find a safe place where you can relax and you are free from distractions.

These meditations are meant to be used while you are at rest.

So please,

As a gentle reminder,

Do not ever attempt to meditate if you are driving.

And now we will engage in a ritual to create a safe place where we can come to be with what is and to heal from whatever ails us mentally or emotionally.

Research has shown that shows there are benefits to meditation and how it can be used to restructure the brain in such a way that there's a reduction in anxiety.

And how you can learn how to get into a more relaxed state much easier.

And now I want you to look around your space and do what you must in order to feel safe here.

This can mean adjusting a picture frame,

Fluffing a pillow or throwing a blanket over your legs as you lay in your bed.

I will give you a few moments to do just that.

Welcome back.

And now let's begin this journey.

I want you to adjust your body into a position that feels just right for you.

You can be laying down on a flat surface on your back.

We're sitting up with support and a chair.

Just make sure that your arms are relaxed at your side.

And your ankles are not crossed if possible.

And now I want you to close your eyes and breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Good job.

And now in through your nose and out through your mouth.

And as you continue to breathe in and breathe out,

I want you to imagine that with each breath you take,

You can feel yourself becoming more relaxed.

And with each breath you let out,

You feel lighter and more at ease.

Good job.

And now just let your breathing become your normal pattern.

Feel your body being held by whatever it is that you were laying on or sitting on.

Feelings of being embraced,

Overcome you and you feel warm.

And now just follow the sound of my voice.

You don't have to be anywhere but right here.

And it is okay to just simply exist and just be.

And if any other thoughts come up,

I want you to just come back to my voice.

Just follow it back here with me.

As we go on a journey of healing,

You are safe here and all is well.

Now I want you to visualize in your mind a path of soft dirt set before you.

And on either side of this path are tall grasses that are green and seem to dance happily in a soft breeze.

The path is welcoming,

And it gives off a sense of belonging.

You see that it twists just out of sight and disappears into tall trees in the distance.

Now I want you to take your feet and step onto the path and begin to move forward.

And it's okay to throw your fingers through the grass as you walk by,

As you once did as a child perhaps.

And if you do,

You notice how cool they are and how soft they are.

They give you a feeling of connection and well-being as you touch their long blades.

And as you walk on the path,

You begin to feel a warmth in the soles of your feet that spread through to the rest of your body.

And this is the connection between you and the very alive grass that surrounds you.

The grass is not only above,

But also is interconnected to its vast systems below too.

And that system is also a part of you.

Interwoven.

You follow the path and soon the grasses are placed by tall trees.

You look up to see that the branches almost seem to reach into the clouds above.

And there is a sense of peace here.

The trees almost appear to stand guard as if they are wise protectors,

Protecting all who walk here and live here.

And they also keep the secrets of all that have come before.

And as you continue to walk,

You notice up ahead in a small clearing,

There is a tree that stands out from the rest.

It has branches that are also tall and reach into the sky.

But there's also branches that fan out towards the soil below as well.

As you get closer,

You see that there's even a branch that curves in such a way that one could easily sit there for a spell if they wanted.

This tree is bigger than those that make up the forest that you find yourself in.

And you have a deep understanding about this tree.

And you feel connection to it.

It seems to beckon you and you walk towards it.

And as you come closer to the tree,

You realize that this is a sacred space.

And right in front of you is a sign.

And the sign says,

Hang your troubles on me and leave them here.

You crane your neck again to see that the highest branches of the tree appear to almost be made of everyday objects,

Like a bike or a cooking pot.

And although that seems silly,

You understand that this means that others have come before you.

And their troubles have taken the form of bikes or cooking pots.

And that eventually,

Those troubles go back to nature,

They become one with nature.

They evolve into a branch or leaf or flower.

Or somehow you know,

Even a life giving blade of grass.

You realize that this tree has the power to transform any negative emotions into something beautiful.

And that gives you a sense of peace.

Now I want you to take a moment,

Perhaps you can sit on the branch that was made for just this purpose.

Or you can sit on the green grass below and feel the connection to all that is and was and that will be.

And I want you to think of what troubles you hear today.

And this moment,

Those troubles are not with you.

They cannot hurt you any longer.

And you have the power to bring them to the surface of your mind.

And into the sacred place,

You are protected here.

And you are doing a great job.

And I want you to take those items,

Those things,

Those emotions,

Experiences,

Whatever no longer serves you,

And place it at the base of the tree.

Once you place it here,

And you walk away,

The tree will take it up,

And the transformation will begin.

And now I want you to thank the tree for all that it does.

But also,

Thank your body and your mind,

And your very essence for enduring and bringing you to this very moment.

Great job.

Now turn around and leave it all here.

The connection to these troubles is broken,

Like a cut string.

You feel a freedom wash over you as you walk back down the path past the siblings of the great wise tree,

The troubles that have been transformed,

And now have given birth to trees of their own that protect this place and bring life to this place.

And you walk past the tall grasses that sway back to the very beginning of the path.

And you feel lighter and more at ease.

And I want you to remember that this place is always within you.

Always within reach.

This power to recreate,

To transform,

To heal,

To bring life.

It's inside of you always.

You have the ability to cast off what no longer serves you.

You have all that you need inside of you.

You just have to start to believe it.

I want you to breathe in and breathe out.

Deep breath in.

Deep breath out.

And I want you to become more aware of any sounds in the room where you are now.

Any sensations like a blanket on your body,

Or the bed beneath you.

Come back to the present.

And you can wiggle your toes or your hands,

Your legs,

Your whole body,

Whatever feels good to you.

And open your eyes.

Welcome back.

And take a big nice stretch.

Great job.

And remember to come back here when you need to.

I'm so proud of you for doing this work.

And for beginning this journey.
