Hi everyone!
Welcome to today's meditation.
Today we will explore what it means to be a human being rather than a human doing.
Sometimes we can get lost in our busy lives and find a sense of worth in what we're doing and achieving rather than in just being.
So the invitation today is to find that sense of worth in simply being.
Acknowledging our inherent value that lays within.
So we'll start by finding our seat.
Postures not too loose that you may fall asleep.
And also not too tight that you anticipate.
Finding that space in between.
You can gently close your eyes if you haven't done so yet.
And you can start by coming into the body.
Letting your body be present here and now.
While allowing the mind to settle.
So as you bring your body fully into the present moment.
You're opening the way for the mind to come back as well.
You can also notice the lower part of your body keeping you grounded.
And the upper part of your body keeping you awake.
Finding again that space in between.
Opening up your awareness.
Noticing what's there.
And see if you can just be there.
Open to whatever's arising.
Fully present.
In acceptance.
Now shifting your awareness towards your breath.
Each inhale and each exhale.
Sensing the body breathing.
Resting in the breath.
Noticing the rise and fall of the abdomen or the chest.
Continuously resting in the breath.
And if the mind wanders,
Which is completely normal.
The moment you notice,
Gently bring back your attention to your breath.
Resting in the breath.
Each time your mind wanders,
You can come back and start again.
Just be here and now.
With your breath.
With yourself.
And in the last breath,
Before closing the practice,
I invite you to reflect on how does it feel to just be?
How does it feel to just be?
And whenever you're ready,
You can blink your eyes open and come back into the space.
And I'd like to share a quote by Wayne Dyer.
And goes,
I am a human being,
Not a human doing.
Don't equate your self-worth with how well you do things in life.
You aren't what you do.
If you are what you do,
Then when you don't,
You aren't.
So this quote feels to me like an invitation to reflect on how I think about myself.
Or what I think about myself.
And this practice,
It's also a way to unlearn how to be a human doing.
And relearn ways on how to just be.
Thank you for sitting with me.
