Wisdom includes everything like impermanence and multiplicity and interdependence.
And so the root of suffering is just not seeing the nature of phenomena.
But what does that even mean?
What does the nature of phenomena even mean?
So,
You know,
Impermanence brings out our being,
Right?
Our subconscious mind,
Our body,
Our thoughts,
Our emotions.
Everything that makes us who we are is brought out through that method.
For example,
Saying something like,
You know,
We've always heard this,
Oh,
Waves in the ocean.
And,
You know,
Just waves in the ocean coming in and out or clouds like passing us by.
But in like life is so great and life is so wonderful.
But again,
What does that even mean?
What does that mean about waves going up and down or clouds passing us by?
What does that mean in real life for us?
So,
For example,
If you're really facing problems and you forget about impermanence,
We fall into a habit of solidity.
So we're holding on to the belief of whatever we're experiencing is permanent.
It's forever.
Then we get mad because things don't work out that way,
That things continue to change.
And our perception and our thoughts and our habits turn out a different way.
It always turns out a different way than what we are actually expecting it to turn out.
So to bring this practice into kind of the experiential level,
We have to learn to meditate on things such as like a breath or sound or something that's easy in our actual experience to show that things are always changing.
There is a beginning.
There is a middle.
There is an end.
But even that beginning starts another beginning.
That end starts another process.
So there's a continuous change of experience at all times.
So let's take like traffic,
For example.
So let's raise your hand if you like being stuck in traffic.
Just a quick poll.
Who likes being stuck in traffic?
No,
Right?
No,
No,
No,
No.
Yeah,
Maybe sometimes.
Not really.
Especially if you have to go somewhere.
Who likes being stuck in traffic?
Right.
You got somewhere to go.
You got somewhere to be.
So if you have a problem in your life,
Just like traffic,
Thinking about all the causes and conditions.
So what is traffic?
Is it because the weather?
Right.
You're angry because the weather.
Is there an accident?
Is there a storm?
Like,
You know,
Sean was just saying,
Is there a storm that's causing the backup for traffic?
Is there some other event that is completely outside of your control,
Outside of our control,
In which we want it to be a different way?
We want it to change.
So do we have a solution to that?
Maybe.
Maybe there's a solution.
Maybe there's a path.
Maybe there's a solution of thinking that,
You know,
We don't always have to know what's coming next to be at ease with whatever is coming up,
To be at ease with traffic,
To be at ease knowing that even traffic will change,
Even if it seems like it's forever and you're stuck for a year.
It's actually not the truth.
Like things are changing.
Things are constantly in flux and things are constantly moving.
Thank you.
