Welcome to this Guided Catholic Healing Meditation.

Today we will be using healing stories from the scriptures,

Quoted by the Dewey Rhimes Schellinger version,

As a part of the Healing from the Scriptures series.

As a disclaimer,

I do not intend to interpret the Holy Scriptures and only use these wonderful stories for guided meditation.

God is our Father and Healer,

Then,

Now,

And always,

And truly,

Nothing is impossible when we ask in Jesus' name.

Prepare by putting yourself in a comfortable position.

Sit,

Walk,

Stand,

Or even lay down.

If you happen to fall asleep during this meditation,

Do not worry.

Be glad that your body is able to relax.

Sleep is a part of our total healing.

You may always refer back to this audio at a later time.

Today's story is about the Widow's Son,

1 Kings Chapter 17.

Give me thy son.

And he took him out of her bosom,

And carried him into the upper chamber,

Where he abode,

And laid him upon his own bed.

And she answered,

As the Lord thy God liveth,

I have no bread,

But only a handful of meal in a pot,

And a little oil in a cruz.

Behold,

I am gathering two sticks,

That I may go in and dress it,

For me and my son,

That we may eat it and die.

And Elias said to her,

Fear not,

But go and do as thou hast said,

But first make for me of the same meal a little hearth-cake,

And bring it to me,

And after make for thyself and thy son.

For thus saith the Lord,

The God of Israel,

The pot of the meal shall not waste,

Nor the cruz of oil be diminished,

Until the day wherein the Lord will give rain upon the face of the earth.

She went and did according to the word of Elias,

And he ate,

And she,

And her house,

And from that day the pot of meal wasted not,

The cruz of oil was not diminished according to the word of God,

Which he spoke in the hand of Elias.

And it came to pass after this,

That the son of the woman,

The mistress of the house,

Fell sick,

And the sickness was very grievous,

So that there was no breath left in him.

And she said to Elias,

What have I to do with thee,

Thou man of God?

Art thou come to me that my iniquities should be remembered,

And that thou shouldest kill my son?

And he cried to the Lord,

And said,

O Lord my God,

Hast thou afflicted also the widow with whom I am after a sword maintained,

So as to kill her son?

And he stretched and measured himself upon the child three times,

And cried to the Lord,

And said,

O Lord my God,

Let the soul of this child I beseech thee return into his body.

And the Lord heard the voice of Elias,

And the soul of the child returned into him,

And he revived.

And Elias took the child and brought him down from the upper chamber to the house below,

And delivered him to his mother,

And said to her,

Behold,

Thy son liveth.

And the woman said to Elias,

Now by this I know that thou art a man of God,

And the word of the Lord in thy mouth is true.

For consideration,

Think of the woman who was gathering sticks,

So she and her son could eat it and die.

And then came the prophet Elias,

Who assured her of God's providence.

God fulfilled his promise,

And the woman and her house ate and did not go hungry.

Now how did the woman react when her son fell ill?

She was so sure that God was punishing her for her iniquities by taking her son away from her.

She was probably afraid and doubtful of God's mercy and love.

But what did God do in the end?

The Lord heard the voice of Elias,

And healed a son.

Was it Elias' faith that healed him,

Or was it the mother's cry?

Now start your conversation with Christ.

You may sit in silence as you ponder upon this Old Testament miracle,

Or you may follow my voice for this guided conversation.

Jesus,

Thou art fully aware of my own doubts,

My fears,

My despair.

But I also know that I love you,

And I believe in you.

It is through my faith in thee that I am able to push through the pain,

The sensations,

The discouragement,

And the hopelessness.

Today I come to thee like the prophet Elias.

I do not doubt anymore.

I do not fear anymore.

I am certain that you want me to be healed.

I know I am created to serve you in good health of mind and body.

I know that you do not want me to suffer unnecessarily if my faith in you could heal me.

I fully accept the gift you are giving me today.

I accept the gift of acceptance,

The gift of understanding,

And the ability to offer all this up for thy greater glory.

I adore thee,

O Christ,

And I love thee.

My soul is grateful for the many ways I could speak to thee.

Thank you for this precious time I am having with you.

I am about to leave this conversation,

But my heart and mind are yours,

Now,

Always,

And forever.

You may now open your eyes or come back to the world.

May this meditation and conversation with our Lord fill your day or night with hope and healing.

Remember that you are loved and prayed for.

God bless you.
