Hi,

My name's Nick Mann and I'm excited to lead you through a five element mudra meditation.

The five elements are the fundamental components of life.

These are space,

Air,

Fire,

Water,

And earth.

They are found all around us in our environment and living circumstances.

These elemental energies are also within us and when brought into balance can bring about health and healing.

That is the aim of today's meditation,

Health and healing.

We will also access and utilize the power of mudras or hand gestures to aid in this beautiful process.

Begin by finding a comfortable meditation posture,

Preferably cross-legged on the floor or cushion,

But if that's too difficult,

You can sit on a chair with your back and shoulders straight.

If you choose to lay down,

Please ensure that you will not fall asleep.

Now that you have found a comfortable position,

Take a full breath in through your nose and as you exhale through your mouth,

Release and shift your shoulders back ever so slightly.

Lower your chin so the back of your neck is neutral and long,

And settle into a neutral upright posture.

Very good.

And now it's time to enjoy a journey of the five elements.

Ready?

Here we go.

Take a long and deep breath.

As you exhale,

Move your attention to your hands and specifically to your thumb and ring finger.

Simply bring them together.

With this mudra held,

You bring your attention to earth energy.

The earth element is stability,

Groundedness and roots.

Bring attention to the earth element now and feel it connecting you to the ground below.

Feel the weight of your body resting on whatever surface you find yourself on.

Your roots are growing and feel your roots growing into the earth.

Breathe into your roots and see them taking in pranic energy and nourishment from the earth.

Feel the earth supporting your existence and your being unconditionally,

Supported,

Centered,

Holding this mudra rest in earth energy awareness.

When you're ready,

Release your thumb and ring finger and slowly join the thumb and pinky.

With this mudra now connected,

You highlight the energy of water.

The water element is flow,

Adaptability and ease.

Breathe here in the water element and feel your energy gently expanding,

Expanding like ripples on the surface of a lake.

Feel all the water molecules in your body,

In your entire being rejoice.

Feel the flow and the free movement of the water in your body.

Here in the water element,

Your energetic field and cells are being bathed and purified,

Nourished and satisfied,

Refreshed and cleansed.

Holding this mudra,

Rest in the water element awareness.

Feel the two elements now,

Earth and water,

And be grounded yet at ease.

When you're ready,

Release the thumb and pinky,

Slowly make a fist and put your thumbs slightly up like a mild thumbs up gesture.

With this mudra now connected,

You highlight the energy of fire.

Fire is passion,

Vitality,

Expansion.

As you hold this mudra,

See the flames and the fire element grow in your body.

Feel the transformational heat,

The energy of fire.

Let the flames of this transmutational element ignite you.

Feel the warmth spreading into your arms,

Into your legs and through your whole body as you call upon the fire element.

Feel your power getting stronger,

The power to serve,

The power to help and nurture yourself and other beings in your environment growing.

You are warm and powerful,

Ignited and expanding upwards,

Feel your vibration rise.

Rest holding this mudra in the fire element awareness.

Feel the three energies of earth,

Water and fire,

The groundedness,

The flow,

The warmth of these elements being balanced and harmonized now.

It is now time to release that mudra.

Allow your fists to relax and the thumbs up pose to go at ease and then allow your thumb and index finger to slowly come together.

Having connected your thumb and index,

You are powerfully calling on the element of air.

Air is inspiration,

Change and movement.

Air both reminds us to soften and lighten.

Feel your breath now,

Pulling in fresh oxygen on the inhale and on the exhale it releases and gently caresses everything it touches.

You are moving air,

Let the breeze of it breathe you,

Where air is prana,

Life force,

Life.

Bringing your attention to how it circulates through your body and as it does it automatically purifies,

Calms and centers.

Oh air,

The great purifier,

In and out,

In and out,

The sacred exchange.

Let the breath breathe you,

Freedom,

Lightness,

Inspiration.

Holding this mudra rest in the air element awareness.

Feel the four energies,

Earth,

Water,

Fire and air within you,

The groundedness,

The flow,

The warmth and the softness of these combined elements and when you are ready allow the thumb and index to separate.

Now slowly allow your thumb to make contact with your middle finger.

Connect them together now.

As you hold this mudra you open yourself up to the element of ether or also known as the element of space.

Ether is open,

All including,

All encompassing and all of the other elements arise from it.

Feel the vastness of your being as you hold this mudra.

Deep breathing,

Deep awareness.

Here in the ether element realize you are as magnificent as all that is and let this element remind you of your absolute right to be here.

There is both nothing and everything at the same time.

It is stillness,

Yet it is the very thing that makes all movement and life possible.

Having traveled from the stability of earth,

Through the flow of water,

The passion of fire and lightness of air,

We reach the element that makes everything else possible.

Feel the sacred stillness and harmonization with the ether within you now.

Become one with all that is.

Letting this mudra rest here in the space element awareness.

Feel the five energies of earth,

Water,

Fire,

Air and ether within you and call in the security,

The ease,

The warmth,

The softness and the spaciousness of these combined elements now.

Now allow the thumb and middle finger to gently separate.

Bring your focus back to the rising and falling of your own breath.

Feel the perfection of this moment as you have balanced your own elements and just notice how you feel now that you've taken time to call in the element of earth,

Water,

Fire,

Air and ether,

Again balancing them in your body,

Mind and spirit.

Now having completed this meditation,

You may allow your eyes to open,

A smile to come to your lips,

Give yourself credit and a big hug,

Take in a deep cleansing inhale and release.

You did it.

I'm so proud of you.

This meditation is always available to you.

Get your intention to use it whenever you need to remind yourself of the power of the elements and corresponding mudras.

Blessings to you in all the ways for all your days.

Nick Mann here signing off for now.

Be well.

Namaste.

Well paced and good clear instructions. I have done some of Nick’s other meditations and always find his voice very calming; this meditation was no exception. I’d never done an element balancing meditation before and found it interesting, especially with the mudra to element connection. This is one I will bookmark to do again in the future.
