Our body and mind react to our surroundings, and our surroundings are hugely affected by the cycles and rhythms of nature. In this part of the course, you will understand that you are not meant to feel the same all the time. You will come to accept daily, monthly, and yearly rhythms and seasons and learn how to go with the flow and not against it.

Your mental state,

Your feelings and your ability to perform at the highest level are all dependent on external cycles and seasonal changes.

By nature you're a creature of cycles,

Day and night cycles,

Weather cycles,

Daily rhythms,

Monthly rhythms,

Yearly celebrations and so on.

Your life is full of recurring circumstances with recurring energies that affect you.

Raising your awareness of them will allow you to utilize them,

Go with the flow and develop yourself further.

So today we're looking at cycles and seasons and how you can benefit from understanding them.

Our goal is to bring consciousness to the fact that you're not supposed to be in the same state of mind all the time.

You will learn to accept that your surroundings change every hour,

Every day,

Every week,

Every month and every year.

Our goal is to incorporate cycles and seasons and not go against them.

Yoko Ono said spring passes and one remembers one's innocence,

Summer passes and one remembers one's exuberance,

Autumn passes and one remembers one's reverence,

Winter passes and one remembers one's perseverance.

Let's harvest the power of all kinds of seasons and cycles.

First of all,

All living beings and also you are affected by external cycles,

Rhythms and seasons and the more you can go with these cycles and not against them,

The easier and happier your life will be.

It's extremely important for you to become aware of this because the more societies technologies develop,

The further people go away from harvesting the energy and benefits of natural cycles and rhythms.

The most obvious examples are daytime and nighttime.

By nature you're not supposed to be awake for very long after sunset,

But artificial light has changed that.

Because of modern technology and modern lifestyles,

Our cycles are broken and the body and mind are confused and muddled.

The more you go back to natural cycles,

The easier it will be for you to manage your energy levels,

Emotions and health.

Now one of the biggest areas affected by cycles is your mood and feelings.

They are heavily affected by hourly,

Daily,

Weekly,

Monthly and yearly cycles.

This is due to many reasons,

Temperature,

Sunlight,

Moisture,

Pressure systems,

Afternoon drops in energy or for females of course their menstrual cycle.

Now modern science often wants to counter these moods and fix them,

But I would like to invite you to create space for them instead.

You're a human being and as such you're supposed to feel the ups and the downs.

So allowing yourself to slow down or to be tired and a bit grumpy is important.

There's nothing wrong with you.

You don't need to fix yourself.

You don't need to pop a pill and go against nature.

You just need to slow down at times,

Take some space and isolate yourself if need be.

By the way,

Of course the effect of cycles can also be positive and uplifting.

They can also give you energy and creating space for these extra energies that are available is just as important.

Now I would like to look at some examples of regular external cycles and their effects on you.

There are also cycles that are only somewhat regular and have different rhythms within one system like the weather.

For example,

High pressure and low pressure systems have a big effect on you and your energy household,

But are only somewhat regular.

Become aware of any types of cycles and rhythms,

Even the ones that are not fully regular and try to embrace the effect also.

But let's come back to our examples for regular cycles.

The first cycle I want to look at is the daily cycle,

The 24-hour cycle.

There are many actions attached to this cycle.

Your natural biological sleep rhythm is one of them.

By nature your body wants to go to bed early and to wake up early.

The closer you can get to your natural sleeping cycle,

The better your energy levels will be.

Next,

Your daily hunger cycles are also important to look at.

You're an individual,

So I cannot tell you exactly what is right for you,

But I would like you to become more aware of when you're actually the hungriest during the day.

Eating when feeling hungry seems like a no-brainer,

But it is less common than you imagine.

Of course,

Hunger is not a feeling we can completely trust.

If you get hungry just before you go to bed,

You should definitely go to bed earlier.

Try and see if you can manage to only eat when hungry,

But also take other factors into consideration,

Like how late you eat.

Next,

Try and observe your overall energy levels during the day.

At what times are you usually the most energetic and potentially efficient?

And when do you feel heavy and sluggish and need rest?

How can you incorporate these natural energy levels into your daily actions?

Can you try and have important meetings in high energy times of the day and make space for simple tasks or rest in low energy times?

The next cycle I want to mention is the monthly or the lunar cycle.

This cycle is created by the moon,

And of course,

Women get affected by this cycle more than men.

Yet,

The lunar cycle affects everyone.

Studies show that admittance to hospitals,

Traffic accidents,

Crimes and suicides correlate with moon phases,

And that applies to all genders.

I'm not saying you need to get deep into astronomy,

But I'm recommending observing monthly moons.

If there's a certain mood pattern and you don't know where it comes from,

I would suggest writing it down so that you can see if it is repetitive.

Now,

Let us talk about the yearly seasonal cycles,

Which are the biggest and most obvious external changes.

This season analysis might sound a bit airy-fairy to you,

But see it more as a reminder to give yourself permission to be in different states of energy during the year.

The energy in spring is usually light and vibrant.

There's a lot of potential for new ideas and concepts to be created in spring.

It is an exciting time to plan and to start anew.

Summer is the season of celebration.

We feel the most outgoing and happy and want to be active.

It is a great time to meet new people.

During summer,

We are often passionate and have the most energy.

In autumn,

We slow down from our summer excitement.

We're in need of nurturing ourselves,

Spoiling our body and taking care of our health.

We're also connecting on a deeper level with close friends and partners.

Winter is the period of pause,

Self-reflect and go inwards.

Winter allows you to create time for yourself.

You're expecting less of yourself,

Which immediately frees you up to mentally digest anything that has accumulated.

Also,

Your immune system is more active in the winter months,

Which is why autoimmune diseases flare up in winter more than in summer.

All of this information around seasons might sound obvious to you,

But it is good to remind yourself regularly that you're not supposed to be in the same state of mind all year around.

Next,

I want to mention that the transitional periods in between seasons are also very important to be aware of.

During these periods is when you need to accept the change happening around you and within you and you will benefit from adjusting your lifestyle.

The more you bring these adjustments into consciousness,

The better.

Lastly,

I want to mention the cycle of life.

It is important to be aware of changes that happen because of entering certain age groups.

Of course,

There are some bigger landmark changes like puberty or menopause,

But try to become aware of more subtle changes that happen all the time.

Accepting and embracing change will allow you to keep being balanced.

If you're fighting against your age and you're not embracing it,

You will eventually create imbalance,

A personality disorder or at least have a very hard time being happy.
